The amount of yellowtail they give you is amazing! It is soooooo good and fresh it is something you have to try for yourself. The sushi took a while to come out but that was because it was a full house AND they're making it right there and then. Their selection of sushi and other dishes makes it easy to take a big group, there is something for everyone. The staff were amazing and even seemed to have a lot of regulars. I was in the mood for sushi and didn't feel like going very far from the hotel, and this place popped up so I figured I'd give it a try. It's in a little strip mall and rather unassuming when pulling in. Walking in, the place was jamming! I had to wait a few minutes for a table to open up and eventually I was seated. I reviewed the menu while waiting and had mostly decided what I wanted by the time I sat down. My server came over and I went with the miso soup with a Sunrise roll. While the wait for my sushi felt a bit long, they completely forgot my miso soup. the sushi itself was tasty and filling, so that was wonderful. I was going to ask my waiter about the soup but being that they were so busy, I never got the chance. Eventually they brought my bill and had charged me for the soup. I snagged the waiter and asked him to remove the soup from the bill since I never received it. He kind of glanced at the table thinking he'd brought it to me, but he did not. He did offer me the soup to go, but I was full at that point the thought of soup was to much. He did remove it off the bill, and that was that. Made a reservation but had to wait half an hour for the line and also since they don't hold any tables so reservations mean nothing. Upper management needs to be fired; having one hostess and one waiter for the entire restaurant is absurd and cruel. Sushi was honestly below average and portion sizes were all over. I've heard lots of good things about Ohashi Sushi and was excited to try it! Located in the same plaza as Fat Head's Brewery, it's a nice spot for a date or dinner with a few friends. Our server Juan was very friendly and recommended the Fire Cracker Roll to us, especially since my date has not had a lot of sushi before. Let me tell you, the Fire Cracker Roll is one to try! You fill out an order card for your person and you submit it to a server who drops it off to the chefs, while they get to work you get to drink up delicious soul warming Saki ($10 for an XL). Green dragon was my A1. The maki was oh so fresh. Absolutely recommend. We went through the gauntlet of sushi ordering their $32 plate and 2 extra rolls with a seaweed salad. Due to a flub a dub with our order, we were gifted the tempura crab as an appetizer which was also outstanding. If you have a craving for great sushi even in the land-locked mid-west, RUN... do not walk... to this little gem discretely hidden in a row of store fronts just behind the Fat Head Brewery. Nothing I was served was prepackaged, or came out of a box. The fish was fresh & ultra-flavorful. The Miso was both subtle & powerful in its play on the palette. The ginger salad dressing was freshly grated & mixed before serving. And even the Chicken Teriyaki (a sushi first-timers favorite fallback I shared with my partner-in-dining) was delicately seasoned in a way that I have never before experienced & with a finesse that I have never before produced on my own. I came here an a Saturday with my mom in the middle of our shopping excusion. Why settle for mall food when you could have sushi that's only 2 miles away? It's very clean and nicely decorated. We decided to start off with miso soup with shrimp shumai. I highly recommend it! The delicate flavor of the miso complimented the flavorful shrimp shumai very nicely. As for the sushi, we went with the Spider Roll and the Eel roll. The Spider roll was rather large with fried soft shell crab and masago. It was pretty average in taste. The Eel roll was a bit of a disappointment. The maki roll itself was pretty small and so it lacked in the eel-department. Most of the time if you order an eel maki roll you get a good portion of eel, possibly with eel on top. The taste itself was fine but I wish they had put more eel in. Apart from being disappointed with the amount of eel in my Eel roll, I was also a bit disappointed by the number of pieces of the maki rolls, especially for the price. Now, the miso shumai soup was $4.50 each which is perfectly reasonable, especially with three shumai dumplings in it. On the other hand, the Spider Roll was $10.75 for 5 pieces. That seems like a bit much when the seafood portion of it isn't unique and it has fillers of lettuce and cucumber. The Eel roll was $7.00 for 6 very small pieces that lacked eel. Overall, this place is average and good if you're craving sushi but don't expect it to be the best sushi place you've come across. read more
