The team and the service here is exceptional. Appointments run on time, what a crazy concept, and the staff is very friendly. Surprisingly, they have some pretty fancy chairs while your teeth are worked on and they're very comfortable. The rooms are clean and modern with large displays that show not only the work being done but your actual costs! In a world where providers are pushing costs as low as possible, Bay Star's dentists do the actual work themselves. Dr. Tai cleaned my teeth and spent time just getting to know me as a new patient. I needed to come back for a filing to be repaired and to say that Dr. Tai is a perfectionist might be an understatement. She was helpful with all the questions I had when filling out the forms. After a small wait I was welcomed to the back by the Dr.'s assistant I believe. Super friendly, made some nice jokes and was making sure I was ok. I have not been to a dentist in a long long long time. i was a bit apprehensive about what I would experience but Dr. Qian introduced herself, went over my problems (which yikes I had a lot of!!!) and offered to repair sameday after my initial exam and cleaning. I wasn't ready that day so I had set up another time to come back. They take care of you here! If you can't get something done sameday they can break down your visits for you to maximize your coverage. Again Thank you Dr. her assistant and thank you to Vanessa for all the help and info. When I explained that I was in pain, the response from the front desk was essentially that there was nothing they could do. There was no empathy, no attempt to help, and no referral to another oral surgeon who could see me sooner. Waiting over a month for someone experiencing dental pain is unacceptable. While I understand that specialists can have busy schedules, simply telling a patient to wait without offering any alternatives is poor patient care. After the call, I contacted another oral surgery office on my own. They were able to see me within two days and even offered a same-day treatment. That alone showed me there were other options that could have been suggested. What disappointed me the most wasn't the wait itself, but the complete lack of concern and communication. After being a loyal patient for years, I expected better. Unfortunately, this experience made it clear that once they couldn't accommodate me, they weren't interested in helping me find someone who could. To make matters worse, after the filling (on the left side), I started having headaches on the left side. Based on the X-ray, I suspect it's because the filling is too close to the nerve, but the dentist kept insisting it's a bite issue. I scheduled a second appointment to adjust the filling (because it was too tight and I couldn't use floss). After loosening it, my headache improved somewhat, but it hasn't completely gone away. Additionally, their prices are very high. Other places charge $180 for a filling, but here it's $280. Overall, this was a very bad experience.
