We had such a great experience! The coconut shrimp was amazing, especially with the horseradish orange dipping sauce--it was the perfect combination of flavors. The Caesar salad was fresh and delicious as well. My boyfriend ordered the Wednesday special, shrimp and crab in penne vodka sauce, and absolutely loved it. I had the pescatore, and I honestly have never had so much seafood in one dish before! The portion was huge, and I have enough leftovers for two more meals. Even though we were completely full, we couldn't resist splitting the homemade cheesecake, and it was the perfect way to end the meal. Gallos is the senior citizen hangout place but it's a good place for all ages! I took my mom for a late lunch on a Monday. It wasn't crowded but there were a few people in the bar area. It's one of the few places that is open on Monday and serves the whole menu from opening to close. We sat in a booth in the bar area. The server was super sweet. She was attentive and helped my mom find the rewards app on her phone. She brought water right away and took our drink order. I had the red clam Chowder. I always forget which one is the Manhattan lol We both had the crabcake sandwich. It is very good and one of the things they're known for. It had a lot of crab with very little filler. It's also not deep fried which I like. The French fries that came with the platter were hot and crispy! I subbed stewed tomatoes for Cole slaw. They were very good.. Back again. I think this place is a very nice family restaurant with great seafood options that work great for lent. Our eyes were definitely bigger than our stomachs and we got a bit of everything. I started with the seafood bisque which was creamy and had a good amount of seafood (crab, shrimp and crawfish I spotted) , the clams casino ( were a miss too me- they were salty, and weird.) We also had onion rings ( they were abundant and hot and crispy.) My husband also order the stuffed mushrooms and loved them. For our entrees he had the Friday special: sweet and spicy salmon with mashed potatoes and broccoli and he also got a side of macaroni and cheese. The mac and cheese ( orecchiette (hat noodle) was really good. My husband likes it thicker I like it just how it was. I got stewed tomatoes with my entree and mixed them in, it was really good. For my entree I got crab cakes with mashed potatoes and stewed tomatoes. I literally only had like two bites of my entree because I was stuffed. The mashed potatoes are garlicky. I haven't been to Gallos in years, and I definitely won't wait that long to return! The inside has been totally revamped. The food was delicious. They even now have a second restaurant with a totally separate menu connected to the original seafood section! I have attached menus to both the seafood and burger bar side. We decided to sit in the seafood part of the restaurant. My friend ordered the Crab imperial. It's sold at market price which was $30. I opted for the shrimp trio. Both did not disappoint! The crab imperial had very little filler. I loved the shrimp trio. The fried shrimp were some of the best I've had. The sweet potato fries were perfectly crisp. We went for the early bird specials. The menu was small but varied. Surprisingly we both ordered Italian dishes. Iwas suppose to order salmon but saw Chicken Marsala and changed my mind. So happy I did, it was wonderful. Full of mushrooms cooked perfectly and delicious. I opted for steamed broccoli and roasted potatoes instead of pasta. My husband ordered Chicken Parm. The sauce is that delicious sweet diner style, so good. Our dinner included house salad or ceaser, we got 1 of each (nice size). Desert was a choice of varied cream and puddings. Coffee or hot tea. I went back on a Friday night and I must say there is consistency in welcoming and friendly service from all the staff and in being a clean restaurant. It was calm and not hectic at all. This time I tried the grilled Canadian salmon which was delicious and made just right. My husband had the seafood bisque which was pleasantly delicious with a slight spice to it, very nice. This will be an easy go to restaurant for me and my husband. A small suggestion for the sesame bread which tastes great, would be to either warm it a bit or to have room temp butter to serve with and honestly it would be perfect. Two of my friends recently took me to Gallo's to celebrate my birthday. And what an enjoyable experience it was. My friends go often, but this was my first time back in a while. I definitely won't be waiting that long to go back! The food was amazing. We all ordered the early bird (don't laugh) honey-glazed salmon as our entree. first course was choice of chowder or salad. my jaw dropped when I saw the salad which was large enough to be an entrée by itself! and really fresh with a delicious honey mustard dressing. All three of us couldn't stop raving about how good and large a portion the salmon was and that it was the best we've ever eaten! Since all of us are old, that's really saying something. This used to be my mothers and I favorite seafood restaurant for 50 years. The current owner destroyed it. He raised prices while lowering quality. The last time we visited, only the cheap piece of tilapia with the broiled combo had the classic Gallo's flavor. The scallops were small and bland. I can't even tell how the shrimp were cooked. Maybe boiled? They were completely unseasoned too. Even the fried eggplant has changed. It used to be flakier and crispier. Look at the older pics people have uploaded where you could see the breading was flakier and crispier like a panko crust. Must have switched to a cheaper quality. The waffle and sweet potato fries seemed like McCains, right out of the freezer section at any supermarket. This restaurant is now no better than any diner in the city. At least they stopped cutting the shrimp in half to make it seem like more. Facebook isn't supposed to remove posts without notifying the poster, but they removed my honest review on this restaurants page at their request. I've added screenshots of threats I received on Facebook by affiliates of this restaurant over an honest review I left there. I had a pecan crusted fish and it felt like a home cooked meal I'd be okay with making on my own or through friends or family. As a restaurant, it didn't have a pizazz of taste. A new friend of mine had shrimp mac and cheese and it looked decent with the delicious creaminess and all. I paid extra for asparagus and I think they boiled it rather than stir fried it w spices to add more flavor. I feel this place really shines with its tradition and the service. The female server went above and beyond and made sure we knew about extra charges beforehand and if something included sides or if it would be extra. Probably one of the best servers I have ever had. I tipped 5 when 3-4 would have been quite proper. Looks like I should've went for the seafood bisque here maybe based on the Yelp pictures. Not my first restaurant choice but a homegrown experience where I felt a piece of some of the friendliness part of the neighborhood and tradition among arguably subpar food overall. I've been coming to Gallos for over 30 years. Food is excellent. Was there last Sunday table of 5. Server "guy," don't know his name because he never told us. The service was terrible even though it was not busy at all 4:00 on a Sunday. Great food but service has been lacking. Then they put an automatic tip on the bill. We also use their great take out on side of restaurant. Have tried broiled seafood meals at least ten shore seafood restaurants in Wildwood, Ceoe May & Ocean City MD. Our family had a funeral lunch here last week for about 30 close family and friends - everything was 5 star. The private room was nicely set and ready for our arrival. Coffee was hot and ready when we walked in. Service was attentive and fast. All of the food was amazing. The Caesar salad was delicious. We had chicken parm which is always consistently great and we also chose the sweet and spicy salmon as an option - Jim Harvey recommended this to us when we were planning the event and it surely didn't disappoint. Everyone at the lunch had rave reviews. Our family is already looking forward to visiting for dinner in the near future. The menu also accommodated the children and picky eaters at the event. My family and I have been eating at Gallo's since they operated in a small space on Frankford Avenue and served on paper plates. Always great food. We still eat there today in the "newer" location on the boulevard. I have only two complaints: 1) The servers are pretty poor now. They used to have mature servers who seemed to really care about their guests. Now, they're young and aloof with little customer service skills. Every visit is a risk that you're going to get yet another poor server. Who hires, trains and reviews these workers' performance? It's sad. 2) Horrid music. I love most all kinds of music except (C)rap. But I never, ever want upbeat fast tempo music when I'm trying to relax and eat my dinner. It's quite annoying. On the plus side, the kitchen does a good job. It's a shame that the front of house staff seems to care little about the people keeping them employed. Unfortunately, this is the case with many other businesses today. Fact is, Gallo's was overall better when it was run by the original owner. read more

Came here for a meeting, the space was spacious and is decorated like a typical restaurant with the dim lighting. For appetizers we started off with the fried calamari and clam casino. They were alright, decent nothing too special. Calamari was fried nicely with a slightly sweet marinara sauce. The clam casino decent nothing special to the flavor. Sometimes you hit a bad one that can be a little gritty. The seafood bisque was decent. Very creamy and gives you a decent flavor profile of "seafood". There was some small bits of soft meat which might be shrimp? Too soft to even tell, more there for a little texture at that point. Having something that wasn't cooked to absolute softness and provide some actual texture would be nice like some nicely cooked small scallops or baby shrimp. The crab cakes were well done. Very crisp with a good amount of crab in them. Stays true to that crab flavor. Didn't really use the sauce as it didn't feel like it added anything to the meal. The portions were big and nicely seasoned potatoes and green beans to pair with it. The Apple crumble, however, was the highlight of the meal. A great dessert to top to off. The vanilla ice cream pairs very well with the hot apple crumble. Delicious! All in all a decent place to try once in a while with great staff. Your experience might be good or bad depending on the food. My friend got the salmon and didn't like it too much cause it was a too dry. read more

Nice, clean place. It's funny that I've driven by this place my entire life (a loooooong time) yet I'd never been there before last night. A friend of mine picked it and made reservations. We enjoyed caesar salad to start. I had the seared scallops with risotto and asparagus and she had the roasted flounder stuffed with crabmeat, mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach. The fresh seeded bread is great too! We were doing a lot of catching up so we were there a while. Our waitress (Hailey) was wonderful! And we ended with fresh made (in house) brownie sundaes! Our last several visits, we were consistently disappointed with their crabcake sandwiches and coconut shrimp. As the prices go up, the quality and quantity of Gallo's food has most definitely gone down. This restaurant has been a family favorite for years and years but sad to say we won't be visiting any more. For about $20, the crabcake sandwich is very bland, served up with not-so-tasty remoulade sauce and a few waffle fries thrown in which have zero taste. Occasionally, we would share an order of the coconut shrimp since the sandwiches were not very filling, but lately the shrimp were tasting old. The orange marmalade dipping sauce was merely okay. Suggestion: a pina colada dipping sauce to compliment the coconut shrimp would be so much better. read more

The food was great for what I had but I had a couple concerns. I shouldn't have to tell people why I'm visiting their establishment in order for me to get good service. Today I conducted an experiment to see how I would be treating if I wasn't dressed up and not so talkative like I would usually be. (Mainly customer service) 2 bartenders: I arrived around 6:15 lots of traffic and talk behind the bar but the bartenders had yet to ask if I wanted anything but continued to look and walk pass me. I was only asked what drink I wanted. And had yet to be talked to since. Not even a small conversation with anyone behind the bar. Which is usually OK for me but this time it was a bit different. 6:47 I got waited on. 7:16 got my food but he walked away to fast for me to ask for anything else a couple minutes later I was asked if I needed anything else which I replied I needed ketchup but I forgot to add water too. (Personally I think if you were at a restaurant having drinks and you're about to eat the server should ask if you want water or just give you water. While there I witnessed noone ask but I watched people who just walked in get water) The experience was OK food was good but the vibe was off. read more

The waitress was absolutely wonderful, however when we received our food (crab cakes) they were inedible. We never had this experience there before. The kitchen manager came out to discuss and did not seem to believe what we were saying and stated that there must be something wrong with "our tastebuds."
