This place is so GOOD!!! I came here for dinner for the first time and it was empty so we were able to sit by the windows. The food came out so fast and service was good. The sushi was surprisingly really really good. The prices on the sushi are such a good deal. The rice to fish portion was on point. The hibachi noodles were delicious! I'd never had a bento box and was looking for something close to home. This is a small place located in a tiny strip plaza on the main drag of 42 in Florence. The setting is casual and perfect for small groups. The bento includes a small sampling of ginger salad, appetizer, rice, sushi and protein. The teriyaki chicken was terrific, as was everything else. I had no idea what to expect when I first pulled in, but dining at Oishii Express Japanese Grill turned out to be a fabulous experience! I got the Bang Bang Roll and a Shrimp bento box. I would order both again! However, next time, I am trying something new because I want to see what else they have! The inside of the restaurant is decorated so cute. It's also very clean. We were served by the owner. She was exceptionally kind and accommodating and I would add an extra star for her service if I could. This was our first time visiting and we cannot wait to come back. The restaurant is decorated with adorable murals and screens to separate sections of the restaurant. The hostess was very friendly. The server was very attentive and thorough. The food was delicious! The rolls were freshly made and delicious. The shrimp shumai was hot and flavorful. We also had shrimp and scallop hibachi that we split between the two of us - and I did not get a pic until we were halfway done. This is a solid 4 star restaurant but I'm rounding up to 5 because it's honestly the best sushi place in the area, so if you're looking for a solid place to get your sushi and teppanyaki/bento box fix in NKY, this is THE place to go. The sushi is ALWAYS fresh, and the flavors are good, and you can just tell they put a lot of care into the rolls. One thing that always amazes me is how neatly the rolls are made and how the rice ratio is absolutely perfect every time. I feel like the sushi chef MUST be a perfectionist like me :) They ALWAYS get my order correct and I've been here at least dozens of times. We have gotten so many dishes and everything is always so good. These are our go-tos: Sunday Morning: they roll and fry these to order and it's always perfectly crisp, hot, and cut every time. I love the flavors of this roll. I always get 2 (one without the spicy mayo and one with, since some of my family members don't eat spicy but even without the mayo, it's great). Megan Roll: is another go-to now. One thing I also appreciate is that their shrimp tempura is perfect every time and you never have to worry about the tail, so it's all shrimp. The flavors are great and the salmon is always fresh. Philly Roll: Again, fresh salmon, perfect fish/cream cheese/rice ratios make a solid roll. Alaska roll is similarly wonderful with avocado instead of cream cheese. One of my kids like the California Roll as well (but they're crab stick style, not crab mix so not a traditional CA roll from CA so I don't usually eat it)--we always get the 3 Rolls special as you get some savings ordering 3 at a time. Umami Roll: we really love the torched salmon on top. Always bring out a different but nice flavor to a roll with salmon (can you tell I love salmon?). A bit more torching on the salmon could bring out the smoky flavor even more but it's still very enjoyable as is. Filet Mignon Bento: The meat is delicious and well made. I love the broccoli that comes with it to round it out. I always get the crab rangoons. We usually get the Philly Roll with it. I've visited every 4+ star sushi place in NKY due to having to make many trips out here. Oishi beats them all and is my go-to. read more

This is a restaurant I have passed a million times and have always wanted to try, but never stopped. I am so glad I did today. The place is super small, so we had to wait a few minutes for a table. Once we sat down though the service was quick. There were a lot of things on the menu I wanted to try, but I ended up going with a dinner box. I chose teriyaki chicken, fried rice, fried dumplings, and an avacado roll in mine. It was really good. My brother in law chose teriyaki steak , fried rice, a crab Rangoon, and a California roll in his. My sister had the hibachi chicken and steak meal. Everything was really good. The service was good. Also, the decor is cute. Overall it was a great experience and we will come back for sure. The only thing that would make it better would be if they were to get fountain drinks, and it it gets busier they should add more tables in the back. Other than that, I wouldn't change a thing. I found this wonderful Oishi Express restaurant 2 years ago by accident but it became my favorite instantly. It is small but very personable and welcoming. I have now tried most of the selection of rolls and many of the other dishes offered and always satisfied with the quality and flavors. I always order extra rolls to take home with me as well. I have now been in northern Kentucky for going on 25 years but I lived a lot of my life in San Francisco area and was raised around Chinese/Japanese/Hawaiian cuisines and culture. Oishi is a wonderful addition to my favorite places to eat and take friends/family and surly for anyone seeking good service and good Japanese food in a relaxed environment with very reasonably and affordable prices. I got the bento box for lunch and with my gluten allergy asked if they could just cook without teriyaki sauce. They were great and offered to do gluten free soy sauce instead and I was pleasantly surprised. The filet mignon was nice and tender and delicious. I got a tuna/avocado roll as well and it was good. The little salad is a nice touch and the dressing is delicious. I will carry out from here again sometime soon. It was a lot of food for a lunch portion. The staff was very friendly and happy to accommodate my dietary restriction and it didn't take long to order. Decided to give Oishi a try when we were wanting sushi for dinner. The sushi menu is limited, but we very much enjoyed the hibachi meals and bento boxes. I have tried the chicken, steak and filet mignon hibachi meals and I appreciate how you can order the large or small portions. The bento boxes are "build your own" style where you pick an appetizer, protein, and sushi roll. Their ginger salad dressing is the best I've tried in the area. "Super Average" Looked at the reviews and decided to try it out. noted the folks running the kitchen were speaking Mandarin and were a friendly bunch. Located in a sorta of strip mall joint, the inside is not inspiring. Turns out the food is not inspiring either, but would say average maybe sorta. Super reasonable prices though. The egg fried rice was way over seasoned with soy sauce and the actual rice felt off as well. The California roll was a no go, I would much rather go with the stuff from Whole Foods in a pinch. The eel roll did not seem very fresh at all. I will admit my review is a function of my years on the west coast, in the 626, the 425 and the 415, so I'm measuring against those standards. I would not mind going back though and trying the bento box, I bet this place does the trick for a nice affordable lunch. read more

I've been here twice & the sushi burritos are delicious. I'd go back JUST for that again and again and again. but the part that sucks is the seemingly only waiter there tries extremely hard to make you laugh, which just turns into awkward and uncomfortable and apparently is 100% okay with asking very odd, personal questions. My partner and I were amazed by the sushi burritos, but service kind of sucks, the waiter's very much off, and they forgot to place part of our order BOTH times we went there. We both got a sushi burrito each & a few sushi rolls to share. Both times they forgot to actually put in our sushi roll orders so we had to have extra wait time do to this mistake. All in all, I'm definitely going back for the food, but not for the service & I'm avoiding the waiter at every turn. P.S. Don't get the Philadelphia Roll. Don't judge a book by its cover. I took one look at the strip mall that we had pulled up to and drew a bunch of false conclusions about what I was walking into. I crossed my fingers and hoped that Yelp wasn't leading me astray. Per usual, Yelp came through. There's good reason why this place is doing well on Yelp! We sat down and examined the menu and I ended up going with a bento box. I was hungry and wanted variety. The Bento box didn't disappoint. You get to build your own bento box with the various, entrees, sides, and sushi rolls. The bento box was great, but I can't wait to come back and try one of their sushi burritos. The prices seemed pretty standard, expect to spend an absolute minimum of $10 per person, but more realistically closer to $15. The restaurant was clean and the decor definitely set the tone that you are in a Japanese restaurant. Our server was polite and attentive. The food took a little longer than I would expect, but this place seems to get inundated with delivery orders (through one of the main couriers, I actually think you might be able to order through Yelp if you're nearby!).
