At Oishii Japanese Thai Sushi Restaurant in Clovis new Mexico. I order a beef pho soup with a side of Japanese rice and 3 egg rolls. Everything was good till I saw a cockroach crawling on the table next to where my food was. Then to finish it off; there was hair in my pho soup. I didn't get offered to get a discount or not to pay for my meal. I still paid full price and still left a tip. I truly do not recommend going here at all. I will never go there again. Upon arrival at the Oishii, I was told to sit anywhere I liked. Shortly after, my server stopped by to take my order. I ordered the salmon sashimi and tom yum noodle soup. The salmon sashimi came out with three slices, wasabi, and ginger. The salmon was thick and fresh. It definitely exceeded my expectations for fish in New Mexico and Clovis of all places. The tom yum noodle soup was a disappointment. I had high hopes with how delicious the sashimi was. It was nothing expected of a tom yum soup. There were no mushrooms, lemongrass, shrimp, lime, Thai chili, or cilantro. It was served with just bean sprouts, pho noodles (rice noodles), and green onions. I was asked if I wanted pork, chicken, or steak with it and I had picked pork. The menu description said it came with chicken and shrimp. It was unfulfilling and did not satisfy my craving for tom yum, but it wasn't bad either. I just wouldn't call it tom yum soup. Service was nothing special. The gentleman looked like he was being trained. He was quiet. I was barely able to hear him in the quiet restaurant. He never checked up on me and did not provide napkins. read more

Didn't have much unagi or flavor. 1 California roll: basic sushi, better the unagi 2 smoke salmon: good 2 inari (sweet tofu): I enjoyed this but my two friends did not. The rice was a bit funky. 2 uzura (quail egg): this was different you can't taste the egg. Just adds a creamy texture. Sushi chef was polite. Waitor had like 9 tables to wait on by himself so he was overwhelmed. He came off nice but eventually got rude. This being our first time visiting you should be a hell of a lot nicer. Oh no...oh nooooo. I should've known better than to go to a sushi restaurant in small town Clovis. I just happened to be driving through town and was sitting at a nearby coffee shop looking on Yelp for a place to grab lunch before hitting the road. A local we met at a coffee shop recommended Oishii and the Yelp reviews seemed alright, so I took a chance. So much regret. I made the mistake of ordering a chirashi bowl. The fish had a very off putting smell. I don't think the fish I got was very fresh because I took one bite and couldn't stomach the rest. I tried some of my partner's unagi roll, and it was mediocre at best. The shrimp tempura isn't authentic. The slivers of shrimp are coated in panko instead of a proper tempura batter. Our waitress was also confused and ordered the wrong items on our check. Did I go on a bad day? I don't know. But from my experience, this place is light years away from decent sushi. read more

Three of us ate there on a Friday night. The place was packed. There was some confusion among the staff as there were tables available and many customers were waiting for tables. Finally we just sat down at a table. The service was extremely slow and a bit disorganized. It took us a very long time to get our appetizers. But the restaurant is brand new and hopefully in time those kinks will be worked out. The food is fantastic though. I especially recommend the New Mexico roll. My friends ordered a "boat" which is a boat shaped dish filled with various Sushi and feeds two. We were all very happy with our food. I would have given them 5 stars, but they took a hit for the disorganized service. But I am looking forward to going back and trying other dishes. read more

Dropped in on our way to Villanueva. Restaurant shares a building with a Subway. Is quaint but we were immediately seated. Staff was friendly and helpful. Loved the cheese wontons and sushi. Pad Thai was good but had a tomato-y flavor to it. They did not have sweet tea (but the had sweetener). Was fun to watch them make sushi at the counter too. Delightful place to try for sure! What can you expect when you put your heart and soul onto every dish you prepare right? Highly recommend it. I hate having to leave this review. I'm am beyond done with this Clovis location and will not be going back. Over the last year and a half, they have taken a complete nosedive. I was willing to talk that up to all of the crazy stuff because of covid, and maybe they will eventually recover. However, they've lost this customer. Tonight's final straw was waiting an additional 45 minutes to pick up a to go order that was ordered more than half an hour before I arrived. They had one of my orders in a bag when I arrived. By the time my full order was ready, I just needed to get home and feed everyone who was waiting. Arriving at home, all the food was wrong. Instead of stir fry veggies and chicken, was an order of tempura. The soup that was supposed to have shrimp and veggies had chicken and no veggies. The chicken fried rice was just a container of steamed rice. This is similar to every experience I've had over the last year, without a single order ever being right, even when I ate in recently. Tired of the much reduced portions of even inexpensive ingredients like rice and veggies and whole orders completely messed up. It doesn't matter the quality of you don't get what you order or if it isn't enough for a meal. Done paying $30-$40 to have a giant mistake everytime. read more

Glad to find freshly prepared, non-greasy food in Clovis as a general matter. For sure the best Eastern cuisine you will find in town. I like the casual vibe too rather than having to sit down at a buffet. Tempura Veggies and Cream Cheese Wontons were nice and light for fried dishes. The sauces seemed a bit too watered down for me. My toddler enjoyed the Pan Tossed Noodles with Beef and Veggies. Now, we can't start comparing Clovis sushi to establishments in Japan or California or any place like that so just know it is the best you are gonna get around here. Honestly we didn't have high expectations considering this is Clovis, NM. The food came out really fast and they have a wide variety on the menu. We started with the shrimp summer rolls. They were really good and the peanut sauce was pretty good that went with them. We ordered two sushi rolls and a noodle entree. The sushi had good seaweed and rice, but was letdown by the inside. The filling was almost entirely cucumber instead of crab on the Rainbow roll. The Dragon roll had tempura shrimp, cream cheese, and fish eggs. I felt it had more filling, but the cream cheese was too much. Though really none of the rolls had a lot of seafood and raw fish options. I've had sushi in various part of the country and crave it, but this left me underwhelmed. The noodle dish was pretty oily, but had a good flavor. Though needed more spices to really kick up the heat. We will be back sometime to try it out again. read more

I'm giving it 4 stars at the moment because they have only been open several days and need to work out some kinks in the flow of service. So I'm giving them the benefit of being able to work some things out. Excited for a new Sushi place other than Shogun. Staff is friendly but they are still learning the corners and space size so bumping into each other becomes less of an issue. The Hostess/Waitress should have been trained/familiarized with menu and ingredients a little more. She was very nice and was trying hard though. Sushi chefs kind of started getting orders confused as it got busy, they need to work on a better system on how to fulfill orders in a smoother rhythm. Its new so I get it. Bathroom was clean thats a +. Give it a shot and dont be too judgey until its been open a bit more. Clovis needs new places to eat, same places to eat get a little boring. I never sat waiting at a sushi restaurant longer. I ordered two rolls (Clovis Roll and New Mexico Roll) and a green curry. They said 15-20 min wait. I waited 30 mins, and they said they were just waiting on the rolls. Checked again at 45 mins, and still waiting. At about the hour mark, I checked with this girl at the counter who was rude and said that I needed to wait still, because there were others that called in before me and were waiting. I told her I've been waiting in person for an hour, and she just brushed me off and said well I need to wait. After about 10 more mins after waiting, I told the waiter (bald guy) to just cancel my order. I would give this place a one star, but only because the male waiter was apologetic and tried to make the best of the situation am I leaving two. The female first girl (asian with short hair) was extremely rude, made no sense, and tried to short change me TWICE! There were two tables that came in after me, and they sat down, ate, and left while I was waiting there. I pointed this out, and her explanation was that they gave priority to people dining in. I understand that, but someone who ordered takeout in person to wait as long or longer than someone phoning in doesn't make sense. Otherwise I would have dined in and just put my food in a togo box after. Going back to the short change, she said she would just refund me in cash (which is technically not how refunds are supposed to work for credit cards), she gave me the wrong amount, I pointed this out. Then as I was about to leave, I noticed she swapped a 10 dollar bill with a one dollar, so I told her again, you short changed me again, she gave me the right amount, and I left and ordered subway next door which took all but 2 mins to get and leave. Tried to eat and support a local business as passing through town but I would avoid this place until they can get things right with their wait time. I got a soft grumble of a 'sorry' once I left from the female front girl Maybe the food might be good? I'll never know since I never got to try it. But the service is crap, and I would suggest either calling in and still waiting, or going somewhere else unless you have hours to kill. Note that this was 1:22pm on Friday, and lunch was not that busy, so I cant imagine how it is when they ARE busy read more

We don't get very many places to eat in Clovis that's not fast food so I love it when new restaurants open up here. Also, I love sushi! This place is great! Friendly staff, food comes out quick and as you would expect it. You don't have to be afraid to eat raw fish in a landlocked state here. I hope they are around for the foreseeable future. read more

We had the chicken pad thai and rainbow sushi. It was so delicious!! Fresh and tasty. Highly recommend!!
