All I can say is WOW. I have been blown away by the sushi here at Oishii. We came here around 6:45pm on a Saturday and got sat immediately at the sushi bar. Our server recommended us the Himalayan roll, and then we chose the Flower and Poke roll, along with some Salmon Carpaccio. AMAZING!!! It was so delicious I had to write about after we just left. Our waters kept getting refilled, and our server kept checking in on us. Overall - this place is making me consider moving to Grapevine lol. 10/10 service, 10/10 food, and it's a lovely location for a birthday or for a first date. read more

If someone told me I'd have the best sushi in Texas, I wouldn't believe them. But here we are. I went to the location in Grapevine, they have ample seating and a bar area with seating as well. We ordered the crab Rangoons, crispy rice-spicy tuna, yellowtail, salmon belly, the flower roll, and the London roll. Everything was amazing and the yellowtail just melted in my mouth. This was our first time to this Oishii but we are longtime fans of the Dallas location. We came for a dinner on Saturday night and were able to be accommodated without a reservation. Staff were super friendly and food was great. We had a mix of appetizers, sushi rolls, sashimi, and the soft shell crab. Nice Asian fusion place, sushi was surprisingly fresh. Definitely suggest the Royce Roll and if you get the snow crab sushi ask to have it seared. This is one of two locations that has a happy hour menu so keep that in mind. We got there at evening open and it was pretty chill. Service was friendly and attentive. I personally love Oishii, the food is consistent and I order dine ina nd take away often. I've found that the prices of the same rolls differ per location but the quality at least stays the same. Today I order 2 Royce rolls Togo and requested low sodium soy sauce. When I got my to go order and checked it, it was filled with regular soy sauce . Normally they have to put the low sodium in a small container but the hostess went back to correct it and brought back a different soy sauce. I also told her house I've had an experience in picking up my Togo order at the Plano location where the 10% service charge was already added to my order but not told to me and I added an additional 18%. This time she hands me the reader again without letting me know my charges and I added 10%, she ask if I want the receipt and I say yes. After reviewing yet again I have been charged 10% and added another 10% , so essentially $9 for her to hand me my to go order... to which she says she can have a manager come and correct it and I just say whatever and leave. Now I get home and I still don't have the soy sauce I wanted and was taken advantage of by unclear tip calculation and pricing.... This definitely doesn't make my order today taste good. Please me aware when placing and picking up to go orders , so that you can tip with the generosity you intend to and are not tricked into. read more

Visited again for the third time. I feel I've gotten it narrowed down to exactly what we like. Here are my favorites: - Royce roll. Cannot go wrong with this. - yellow tail special - tribeca roll All the items noted above were purchased during happy hour. I mention this because the happy hour portions are essentially half orders. This comes in handy when ordering things like the tribeca roll that I know I'd be happy with 4 pieces to share with my wife, but not 8. 2nd time now here for lunch. Arrived just after they opened around 1120ish am. Was poorly greeted by hostess who failed to smile and the busboy who brought our water. But our waitress was amazing !! She was smiling, happy, friendly and attentive. Food here is great all around. Sushi and sashimi are fresh with beautiful presentations. Drinks are awesome although we were there for lunch and could only partake in 1 bottle of hot sake. Even the GM came out and talked with us and asked how things went. I didn't tell him about his hostess or busboy, but hopefully the waitress will. I gave it 4 stars for now just for that. Otherwise a 5, but will still keep coming back. Absolutely recommending this place! Beautiful ambiance, and the restaurant is very well run with staff members working together to remove used dishes, and refilling drink. Food came out fairly quick and the Vietnamese dishes we tried were authentic!! It helps to have an executive chef with a Vietnamese background. There is a good amount of foods with each item ordered (pot stickers, fried tofu, beef vermicelli). The sushi rolls at other tables looked fresh and very appealing as well. This place was close to the airport and I was hungry for some sushi. The place gave me an upscale restaurant vibe. Very nicely decorated, and spacious inside. We sat at the bar and watched numerous cooks perform their dishes. The staff and cooks were nice and friendly. I ordered a tuna roll and Salmon roll which both were delicious. Another great dinner find via Yelp! We love sushi. Oishii was fantastic! Really wish this was an option for us back home. No disrespect to our go to sushi spot. But Oishii is a step above. We started with the pork and shrimp dumplings. Those were really good with a dipping sauce that had a bit of heat to it. I would've preferred a longer pan fry to crisp them up though. My wife ordered the salmon carpaccio, without the chili powder. Simply amazing. She also ordered a rainbow roll that she said was perfect. I ordered a spicy tuna roll and the M & M roll. Both were excellent! Top notch service. Super friendly and helpful in explaining the menus. Couple of notes: The "crabmeat mix" is imitation crab (boo on that) and it's a loud space. While known for its sushi, you can also get some fantastic Vietnamese dishes too. This review focuses on the new location in Grapevine and the sushi rolls. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - On my two visits to Oishii, both visits were busy. One visit (no reservations) had a short 10 minute wait while the other had no wait thanks to reservations made on OpenTable. The restaurant buzzes with suburban patrons and Oishii's superb staff working at a fast pace. There's a long sushi bar in the back with many on first (or second?) dates. 1 Star. Service - We had the same server, Sean/Shawn, on our visit. On our first visit, he suggested some rolls to try because the menu can be intimidating. Everything he recommended was great and he checked in several times without being over bearing. But I want to call out the entire Oishii staff. They all work together, supporting each other. Multiple people came to bring out our dishes, clear plates, fill our drinks, etc. 1 Star. Food - I'm only going to focus on two rolls. If you visit Oishii, order at least one of these. First, the Himalayan Roll is a riceless roll that is served on a one inch thick sheet of salt. The cucumber wraps around generous portions of tuna, yellowtail, and salmon. The longer the rolls sit on the salt, the more salt the cucumber absorbs. It's a stunning dish, and everyone around you will ask their server "what's that roll?". If you're a fan of truffle, order the Tribeca roll. This roll is special because it comes with a small amount of truffle oil and the rolls look like little triangle sandwiches better served with tea instead of soy sauce. I ordered both rolls on both visits. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. This is the 4th location. The only difference between each location are the patrons (suburbia/uptown/SMU). Me and my friend decided to give this place a try for lunch. This used to be the former Lava 10 sushi restaurant. The redesign looks really nice. I was quite impressed. When I went, the parking lot was completely full. We ordered a bunch of items. I tried the Calamari, the flat rice noodle, and the bho kho. My friend had the Kung pao chicken. The calamari was lightly breaded without being too heavy. The flavors were good and it came with a really good green sauce. My flat rice noodle was also really good. The noodles werent broken and had a good char flavor. My favorite dish was the bo kho. the beef noodle soup was really good and had really authentic flavor. The noodles were a tad over cooked, wasnt quite sure what happened but the soup was so good, I'll just overlook it. The service was also good. Everything just seemed on point. Came back here for for my 13-year-old's birthday. Made reservations on OpenTable and they quickly seated us. I mentioned to the hostess that it is my son's birthday and if they do anything special and she said no and that she's sorry. I completely understood. It's a huge place. Our dinner was delicious. Waitress was very busy as she was also behind the bar making drinks. Manager was very attentive. Staff was very quick and attentive about clearing the table. They have happy hour until 6:30 PM. So saved a few dollars on appetizers and drinks. At the end of dinner waitress was apologetic for being busy but was very sweet. I mentioned that it's my son's birthday so even after the check was paid she said wait a few minutes and surprised him with mochi ice cream, which was so kind and made my son's day. read more

Maybe my bar was set too high since there are plenty examples in the DFW area alone where it's difficult to duplicate the original. I found this to be the case with Oishii. The "goods": - service was attentive and nice - atmosphere (visual) was great - parking MUCH easier than the Wycliff location The "bads": - a lot more screaming kids with parents talking (way too loud) baby talk while walking their kids all around the dining area - it IS Grapevine and unfortunately we were seated in a side "party room" with two large groups including many kids / babies :( - spring rolls: Unmemorable. I've had better at most "hole in wall" (cheap) Vietnamese places - hot and sour: personal preference not to my liking. A bit too "savory" and greasy tasting - Sizzling Crispy Shrimp, Scallops & Whitefish: given that they only had three "signature dishes" you'd think you can't go wrong. While it WAS "sizzling", it was far from "crispy". The breading that pretty much fell off the pieces of seafood onto the not great tasting "goo" sauce was a pile of mush. It's not often I leave a place wishing I had gone somewhere else and/or ordered something else. Unfortunately this was one of those rare times. read more
