Good and fast for a quick lunch. Decent priced. The service is super nice. They have a punch card system too. So will be back for lunches! I work across the street and my lunch time is not very long. But this works out great for me !

We ordered the sushi and Hawaiian poke bowl. Fresh was good. Great price for the amount of food we got. . Place is clean. Will order again.

5 months later it's still just as good. I've gotten the same rolls and it's still delicious and very generously portioned.

There are plenty of good choices on the menu (the mushroom risotto is excellent, which shows the breadth and scope of this Japanese restaurant). Again, the wait staff here is very attentive, always checking in and refilling our water or clearing our dishes. In particular, our waitress Lynn is amazing and made us feel right at home. She knows the menu inside out and had recommendations ready for us when we inquired (sake, appetizers, rolls). On top of that, she is very friendly and kind, which added to our positive dining experience. If I were starting a restaurant, I would hire all of my wait staff to be similar to Lynn in character, charm, work ethic, and customer-centric focus. For dessert, Lynn recommended the ube cake -- it was one of the best desserts I've had in a long time. Five stars overall for Nikko for the delicious food, festive ambience, and ease of parking.

If you want something further up…read morethe food chain like Nigiri or Sashimi you're going to pay a pretty penny to figure out this might not be the spot for you. I was excited to see chalkboard specials but the pricing looked like it was for 2 pieces of Nigiri but it was for 1 piece and the two choices we made were not very good (seaperch and ankimo). The tempura tipped us off immediately (greasy and overly fried, they looked like onion rings from a hamburger joint), and I'm afraid the sushi was that good, especially considering the price. Himachi sashimi was good and cold. Nigiri was not cold and nothing out of the ordinary. Service was attentive but average (luckily our server forgot to order a roll that my wife wanted).

I treated myself to sushi for lunch. I had never been to Sushi Sakana, but I pass by it regularly…read more I have checked out a couple of other sushi places in the area and have been...underwhelmed. When I try out a new place I typically go for their sushi bento. You get a little variety of things in a charming presentation. I loved that you got to choose your two sides. The sushi and sashimi are set and it comes with a salad, miso soup, and several options to choose from. I got the California roll and the vegetable tempura. They also had shrimp tempura, gyoza, egg rolls, seaweed salad, squid salad, and vegetable croquettes. There were two lovely ladies working the tables and two men behind the sushi counter. There were only about four other tables there when I was, but I did see people coming in for takeout. The service was fast and friendly. I was also pleased to see the chefs behind the sushi bar preparing everything to order. It was so fresh. The sashimi was cut thick and had the perfect texture. The nigiri was not too much for one bite. The tempura was perfectly fried and crunchy, and the salad was cold and refreshing. It was a lot of food and I couldn't finish it. But it was SO satisfying. It felt like a treat. The atmosphere was clean and calm. I very much enjoyed my lunch and I will definitely come back.

** Not what it used to be**…read more Used to eat here weekly, not just for the food but because the staff were so personal. It seems that they have new staff/management which has also affected the quality of food and overall experience. On top of that, no one checked on us, drinks sat empty, and they didn't even bring the desert nor apologize for not being able to do so because they were busy. We just left early after paying as we were tired of waiting for the ice cream. With the amount you pay, we unfortunately will be looking for a new regular spot.

For appetizers I had the gyoza (solid), crab rangoons (fine), and the shrimp tempura (awful). The frozen shrimp tempura from Costco is far better. For my main course I got the crispy beef as well as a 6 piece spicy tuna roll. The crispy beef was quite possibly one of the worst entrees I have had a restaurant ever. It legitimately was so crispy to the point where it tasted like there was no beef in the actual entree and that it was just breading. The sauce and vegetables it was smothered in were mediocre. I have had it before about 2 years ago and would get it regularly. It always hit the spot and was delicious, but tonight it was far from that. The spicy tuna roll on the other hand was pretty solid. The other individuals in my party got the chicken katsu as well as the mermaid roll. The katsu was bland, overcooked, and flavorless (the sauce sucked as well). The mermaid roll looked like it had been sitting in a fridge for 3 days waiting to be eaten. The service was fine, the ambience is nice as well. I have been coming to this spot for about 5 years. It was my first time tonight in about 2 years and I don't plan on going back unfortunately. This really disappoints me and I hope the quality of the food can change back to how it used to be.
