Stopped here on our way to Galena and was highly disappointed. There were two gentleman at the bar and one additional table of customers....not busy. After we finally put our order in with a server who seemed like she'd rather be anywhere but there, we waited a bit to get our drinks. Our food order came out in a one-by-one manner. One plate was delivered without the fries and were finally delivered after done eating the mediocre chicken sandwich. A burger at the table went uneaten - over cooked and flavored like spoiled beef. The server never asked if everything was ok. Two drinks were empty at the table before food delivered and never refilled. We couldn't get out of there fast enough. read more

First new owners and a new phone number: pizza is still great same recipe. Sizes of pizza are limited and only a thin crust. My favorite go to pizza. Not a wide variety of any other entrees. Sometimes their credit card reader doesn't work. read more

The Friday fish fry was wonderful. I have not eaten there since it reopened under new ownership. It is def recommended. Unfortunately not many people were there at 5:30 so maybe people don't know it's back open and with great food. Give it a try. Service was great too. read more

Jugs is a good local joint right on the main drag through Elizabeth. We've now been there a few times. Service at the bar is good but don't expect anything fancy. The pizza must be the thing here. At dinner time there is a decent stream of takeout customers. We have had the taco pizza, taquitos, curds and other stuff. Good place. read more

Adequate enough draft beers and the mac & cheese special was quite good, but the service....the bartender used the F word every sentence an d was joined by the cook who was also an f word specialist. Didn't expect much but my girlfriend and I needed a place to eat before our 3 hour ride home from Galena. we decided to get a large pizza since it was on special for $10 on Sunday and we really enjoyed it. The pepperoni is fantastic and really recommend it if you have a hankering for some pizza. The bartender was very friendly too. read more

If you are ever on your way to Galena, stop at Jugs in Elizabeth. We happened there Saturday when it was wild game night. Local hunters brought in food for a wild game buffet. Venison meatballs and chili, elk and noodles, venison brats, rabbit and wild rice, stewed duck and venison Italian beef. OMG. Best food ever! Super nice people too. Not a bad place to stop in for a beer or two whether you're with a group of people or just by yourself to watch a game. It's much larger inside than it appears to be from the street, so there's plenty of room for groups. Hungry? They make pretty good burgers and fries to kill the grumbling in your belly. I was here on a Sunday afternoon and there weren't many patrons in the bar so my meal came out pretty quickly. Since I was just passing through town and was driving, I wasn't drinking, so I can't comment on the beer/liquor selection here. But judging from the number of brew signs on the walls, I don't think you'll have any trouble finding something you like. Bottom line, it's definitely worth a visit if in the area, but I wouldn't go way out of my way to come here. read more

They're open. They have a mask sign on the door in accordance w common sense, but nobody inside was wearing a mask. Not the staff, bartender or cooks. None of the townies elbow to elbow at the bar. Just me and the other couple who walked in from out of town. They even have an outdoor patio but nobody was outside. All packed indoors breathing on each other. Hands down the BEST pizza anywhere in North Western Illinois. I'm a Chef & Sommelier in Chicago & am moving to this lovely little town. Andy at The View motel (where we were staying & another 5+ stars for them) told us to go see Misty & the crew over here. ABSOLUTELY love the people, the food, & the place itself. I got the Crab Rangoon Pizza & it was love at first bite!! My Hubby felt the same about his. We had leftovers so later on at the hotel we heated everything back up & it was STILL spot on. The next night we did delivery & Misty was kind & remembered us over the phone. We planned on going back on Sunday to take a pizza back with us but unfortunately had to leave a little earlier then planned. Sorry Misty we didn't come see you again!! We'll be out there though since we close in the next month & we'll definitely be there to celebrate the night we close!! read more

This place was our second choice on Friday night looking for a late dinner. Dually's down the street closed the kitchen and sent us to Jug's. I think we were both surprised by the atmosphere-it was packed. There were several tables with small children sharing pizzas and a full bar of guys getting hammered a few feet away. Service was prompt and available. However, the food is marginal at best. I wasn't impressed by anything on the menu and somehow ordered mini corn dogs off the kids menu. When it arrived I couldn't believe it was a kids meal, but then we got the check and it definitely was charged as an adult entree. Frozen. Fried. Corn dogs. Meh. My boyfriend got a warehouse club cheeseburger and we high tailed it out as soon as we got the check. It just wasn't the atmosphere to sit, eat, and relax. I'm not sure how any of those families could last so long. This might be a nice rowdy place for a drink, but it's not something we were looking for. read more

I went to the Thrift Store on the corner that had no bathroom. Jugs allows outsiders to use their bathrooms. They were cleaner than any bathroom I have ever been in except my own. Also supplied with air freshener for those that drop a fuming bomb. Inside of restaurant/bar nicely decorated and lots of patrons shows a good sign. But to be honest, I did not eat there, so my rating is based soley on bathroom cleanliness. Will go another time to eat. Then rate on that. read more

Ugh. It's bad. My parents, 2 year old daughter, and I ordered a patty melt (medium), a taco pizza, meat lovers pizza, and a kids chicken fingers. My burger was well done and flavorless, besides the fact that the burger patty itself fell apart and crumbled. The taco pizza didn't have ground beef, instead had refried beans. The meat lovers pizza was sub-par to say the least. The kid meal was only 1 chicken finger with fries. The fries are basically potato straws that reminded me of shoe strings. Took 25-30 min to get our meal. Don't even want to think about the amount of fruit flies we ingested, considering the entire time we were swarmed, can only imagine what was going on in the kitchen. Oh, and apparently someone had explosive diarrhea in the bathroom, as I had to spend 5 min cleaning the toilet seat off before I could put my daughter on it. The service was alright. I just moved to Elizabeth from Clinton, Iowa. I was initially worried about a lack of good dining options moving from a larger area to a rural one but Jug's and other local eaterie's have assuage those fears. I was truly surprised with how excellent their pizza is. Aside from your usual stand-bys they have some very interesting options as well like the Shrimp Cocktail pizza. I always get the pizza and the missus usually get's one of their sandwich offerings. After ordering 6-7 times we have yet to be disappointed. They have a very reasonably priced kid's menu which they seem to enjoy. All in all a great place to eat with a very friendly, informal atmosphere. read more
