99-cent bags of grapes and blueberries!
    Jay M.

Many of the previous reviews are similar to my experience. There are certain products at OK Lee Produce that are cheaper than Iovine's, while the latter has its own deals that "one-up" what's offered at OK Lee's. The two women working the cash registers were friendly while I was there yesterday. The 99-cent bags of grapes and and plastic containers of blueberries are a steal! While I was shopping around, one of their suppliers came by and replenished their stock of assorted vegetables and fruits. What I saw here seems to be consistent with something I've learned over the years: Some markets sell produce that is meant to be used or eaten within 24 to 48 hours. Unfortunately, those markets may not necessarily advertise that, so it's a matter of being familiar with what "good quality" produce is and is not. Quality wise, everything seemed to be "OK," and I didn't see anything overly ripe when I dropped by. However, just to be safe, take some time to inspect their selection of produce before purchasing the day you visit them.

All of this for $12 (brussel sprouts, blackberries, raspberries, nectarines, fuji apples, pluots)!!
    Tiffany S.

Came here two weekends in a row and got amazingly cheap berries. Blackberries an raspberries were 99cents a pack and I also scored a bag of brussel sprouts for 1 dollar. Although it has a smaller produce selection than Iovine Brothers (which probably is still my fav), OK carries an impressive amount, as well as good variety, of produce in the small space it occupies (pretty much in the center of Reading Terminal). My assortment of fruit I bought last wknd lasted me a few days, but I do agree w/ other reviewers that there are some items I think are sold at cheaper price points likely because they don't look like they'll keep for much longer. Also offers student discount here!

This place is just how the name describes - OK. They have some good deals but the quality and freshness of the groceries are just OK.

The prices are cheap, but you get what you pay for. The broccoli and grapes I bought didn't make it two days before rotting. Ugh.

OK Lee is much smaller than Iovine Brothers, its grocery counterpart, but they manage to do a lot with the space they have.

I am filing a complaint against the cashier--a young black woman with long hair who treated me rudely, resulting in a terrible shopping experience. Here is what happened: When I was paying by credit card, the first attempt was declined, but the second went through. I just said, "Approved." The cashier rudely shouted at me, "I heard!" Instead of processing the transaction immediately, she made me wait and wait, while she chatted with a young girl behind me in line. After I said, "Bad attitude," she shouted, "FUCK YOU!" I answer her, "FUCK YOU! I will complain about you!" She then grabbed my receipt and refused to hand it over; I had to demand its return before she finally gave it to me. She was extremely rude, mean and unfriendly toward Asian customers, discriminated against Asian female customers, she also processed transactions very slowly, keeping customers waiting. I hope Giant takes this matter seriously. We are members and loyal customers who have shopped there weekly since the store opened, yet this is the first time I have ever been treated so rudely.

Now you can choose between this or Aldi right down the street. There is a parking garage on the lower level that you enter on 15th street. Another reviewer mentioned and it is correct to save your receipt and scan it to get free parking otherwise my hour and a half visit would have run me 24.00 The store is clean. The layout easy to navigate. Pricing is more than fair. I got an amazing deal on seafood. Crab legs 11.99 lb, colossal tiger shrimp 9.99 for a bag of 12. Very nice. Guys at the deli counter were super friendly. Last note, I would avoid like the plague around 3:00 pm. I knew it was a mistake when I'd done it but my shopping companion who's a non driver was having a fit. Way too many schools in the area means massive throngs of children and traffic bottlenecks. Open until 10 pm so go early or after the kids have gone home.

I think of it more as a…read moreneighborhood market than a traditional supermarket, a place where you can quickly pick up what you need and be on your way without feeling overwhelmed. Its smaller footprint, especially for this location, works in its favor. The store is bright, clean, and well-organized, which immediately elevates the experience. The lively music, upbeat energy, and beautiful packaging create a fun, almost "adult amusement park" atmosphere. Even when it's busy, and the lines look long, they move quickly and efficiently. I usually walk, but there's a parking lot behind the store and street parking nearby when needed. What truly makes this place special is the staff. They are consistently warm, friendly, and genuinely helpful. If you ask about an item, they walk you right to it, and they never seem bothered if you interrupt while they're stocking shelves. I also appreciate the team's continuity. Over time, you start to recognize familiar faces, and I've met crew members who transferred here from places like Oakland and Charleston, which speaks to a strong internal culture and mobility within the company. Just being in the store lifts my spirits. Another standout is the curated selection. Trader Joe's carries a fraction of the SKUs you'd find in a typical grocery store, about one-tenth as many, and that dramatically reduces decision fatigue. Instead of comparing endless versions of the same product, you can trust that what's on the shelf is a good choice. It makes shopping faster, easier, and far more enjoyable. Prices are competitive, and the quality is strong across the board. The meat and fish are generally fresh, the produce is reliable, and while I occasionally try something that's just average, the overall hit rate is excellent. The rotating seasonal items add a festive, timely element that makes each visit feel a little different and always fun, whether you're getting into the spirit of a holiday, planning a dinner party, or just trying something new. Some of my regular favorites are the Shrimp Scampi, Chicken Shawarma, Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups, Chocolate Croissants, Bolognese sauce, Green Chile Chicken Bowl, Cookie Butter ice cream, the Focaccia Baguette, the fresh salmon, grilled sliced chicken, and the eucalyptus plants, which always make my apartment feel calmer and more inviting. More broadly, this company feels like it was built with real love and creativity. There is a genuine culture of celebrating people for who they are and encouraging everyone, both customers and crew, to show up authentically, and you can feel that the moment you walk in. Trader Joe's is also intentionally a bit mysterious and low profile as a brand. If you're ever curious about the backstory, the Freakonomics podcast episode on the company is fantastic and explains many of the thoughtful, unconventional decisions that you notice reflected in the stores. It's incredibly rare to watch a company scale the way this one has while still holding onto its character and values. This location is a perfect microcosm of why Trader Joe's is such a special and distinctive brand: great value, efficient shopping, carefully curated products, and genuinely kind people, all in a space that consistently leaves me happier than when I walked in. I always look forward to coming here. Thank you!

I chose an eggplant sandwich, which was thinly sliced, breaded, and fried, with mozzarella, and artichokes. The sandwich itself was so filling. The chips and pickle were an added bonus. They heated it for us before we went upstairs to eat. There's a quieter section with more ambiance upstairs, so we enjoyed the ac while we ate.
