I can't believe I slept on Di Bruno Bros for so long. The grocery aspect is wonderful, there are delectable, local cheeses, chips, meats. breads, cakes, sandwiches to go, and plenty of drinks to choose from. We walked in for a late lunch and were overwhelmed by all our options. There's also a butcher's shop if you want fresh meats, and a designated cafe section for beverages and pastries to go. I chose an eggplant sandwich, which was thinly sliced, breaded, and fried, with mozzarella, and artichokes. The sandwich itself was so filling. The chips and pickle were an added bonus. They heated it for us before we went upstairs to eat. There's a quieter section with more ambiance upstairs, so we enjoyed the ac while we ate. I came back a few days later for a strawberry shortcake, and it was worth the trip. I love cake, so the miniature options were appealing and practical. Love this Market !!! Great place to grab some things for an informal picnic. Wish this store was close by but found this gem in a recent trip to Philly where you can grab e writhing you need for a picnic or just some really great snacks to bring back to your Hotel. I have to say their crispy, crusty baguettes freshly baked daily are pretty darn amazing and are great paired with butter or some of their great deli meats. Just a tiny shop packed with goodness. We were immediately greeted when we walked in and were asked if we'd like to try anything. We tried a smoky Gouda that was delicious and they even offered a milder cheese for our 4 year old daughter. Everywhere you looked there was something that looked amazing from the cheeses to the meats, jams, nuts, etc. We walked out with a very nice charcuterie spread that did not disappoint. read more

In my eternal quest to find the best grocery store rotisserie chicken in the world, Di Bruno Bros is the ONLY bird I have run into that had a dry rub... and I've eaten 76th different grocery store tissis as of penning this. I was initially perturbed at the sight of the dry rub, but after demolishing this entire thing, I began to question the rest of the country. Why isn't a dry rub more popular on a rotisserie chicken? It really works. It cost $12.99 and it ended up landing at 9/10, which currently ranks it 8th out of 76 grocery store birds I've tried. An ELITE bird. I was so hungover doing this review, and it damn near brought me back to life. You can lowkey feel that in the video. On an ancillary note, I love Philly with all of my being. There is so much soul down there. One of the most slept on food scenes in the world. As someone visiting from Miami, I was immediately drawn to Di Bruno Bros. -- we just don't have many places like this back home! The store is absolutely beautiful and full of character. The incredible cheese selection, the curated Italian pastas, wines, and specialty foods -- it's a food lover's dream. I felt like a kid in a candy store, completely mesmerized by all the options. The staff was friendly, and everything looked so high-quality and well-presented. I was genuinely tempted to buy an assortment of cheeses to bring back home, and I still kind of regret not doing it. That said, I did have one experience that made me pause. Later that evening, as I walked by after closing hours, I peeked through the window to show my husband the shop I had visited earlier and I happened to see a few mice moving around inside the store. It was definitely unsettling to witness, especially after seeing all the exposed cheeses and displays earlier in the day. I completely understand that older city buildings (especially in places like Philly) have their challenges, and I'm sure this isn't unique to Di Bruno Bros. Still, as a customer, it did take away from the magic of my earlier visit. Overall, Di Bruno Bros. is a gorgeous and well-curated Italian market that I'd recommend visiting for its atmosphere and specialty goods but I hope management is able to address cleanliness concerns, because the store truly deserves to shine as brightly as its reputation. read more

The small vending machines are located throughout the city You put a dollar in to get a small art print There are about 10 different prints Di Bruno's in Rittenhouse is a good place to grab a to go lunch or pastry in the morning. It has lots of different options like sandwiches and pasta. The cheese area has a big variety and you can usually sample before you buy. They have a seafood counter and a wine section as well as lots of Italian groceries you can buy. They also have fresh bread and coffee and pastry counter the staff are helpful and answering questions about different kinds of food, cheese and wine. Went for the mini prints, stayed for the food! I just had to swing by Di Bruno Bros after hearing that there was a vending machine of mini prints by Anastasia Inciardi. I wasn't sure what to expect when I walked in, but I was immediately surrounded by a plethora of delicious food, drinks, spreads, cheeses, and gorgeous floral arrangements. I didn't have too much time to stick around but while I was there I noticed a whole section of pre-made foods. Decided to get a Caprese stromboli and a toffee pretzel chocolate bar to go. Thoughts on the stromboli: a LOT of dough. It was very chewy towards the ends and the bread was thick. Not enough filling in my opinion but it was flavorful. Maybe I should have warmed it up longer to let the cheese melt a little more. The chocolate bar was average - nothing special. I wish the pretzels were more prominent than the toffee but it was still good. Prices are slightly expensive. It's a convenient and popular one stop shop for charcuterie board items. I'll definitely make my way back to try their pastries and get a bouquet of flowers. read more

Di Bruno Bros on Chestnut Street in Rittenhouse has just about everything one needs. Within its walls is a butcher shop, a sushi stall, cheese market, desert and coffee counter, delicatessen, hot food bar, rotisserie chicken cabinet, appetizer refrigerator, fresh fish, vegetable aisle, wines of many colors and flavors, frozen food, as well as staples. I'm sure I left stuff out but you have to immerse yourself in it to love it as much as I do. I found that their lunch hero's and focaccia sandwiches are the best in the city for under 15USD each. Every employee is helpful and goes out of their way to make sure things go well. There are a few tables inside and outside to enjoy your meal and snacks. 5 stars! read more

Getting barked at by the assistant cheesemonger for having the audacity to pickup a piece of cheese to read the label was the last straw. DiBrunos used to be the place for fantastic sandwiches. The breads, the fillings were done with flavors that were mouth watering. 9/12 i picked up five sandwiches for a group outing with friends. Turkey used to be roasted, now it from a roll and barely there. Way too many cherry peppers filled the space where there should have been turkey. My guests, opened the bread and picked at the insides. There was more bread than fillings. I was so embarassed at what should have been great eats. Never again. read more

What happened to this place? In the past week I have the Rittenhouse and Washington sqr locations and the service is terrible. They have a beautiful upstairs space in Rittenhouse that isn't staffed and the deli downs stairs is SLOW. The employees at check out used to be very pleasant , now they are yawning and obviously unhappy to be there. The Washington sqr location used to be bustling. The last 3 times I have been in there the deli isn't even open and the employees seem annoyed that customers visit the store. read more

I had a very unpleasant experience here at the hot meal counter. The man helping me coordinate my meal did not want to split the lasagna portion for me.... Even though previous times I've gone there they would split the lasagna for me in a heart beat. It's a pound sized portion of lasagna. It's not an odd request to not want to eat a pound of lasagna. He said in his five years of working there he'd never heard of anyone making that request.... Sure dude. Okay and then he took PAINSTAKINGLY long to put the label on. Not kidding I stood there for 3 minutes watching him print out and mess with the tags. He had an unnecessary off putting energy to him. But wow, venchi is an amazing brand. Super smooth, not too sweet and flavorful. The pistachio chocolate I got was like a layered truffle! Black and white cookies Inside was cakey, but not as cakey as lofthouse. The white part was too sweet, I could only eat the chocolate side. There's a pastry case with cookies, cakes, and other sweets. $18 for a small 5" cake? Just didn't wanna commit to something I wasn't sure of lol there's also chocolate covered beans, pretzels, etc.. Lots of oils, wines, pasta, crackers, even seafood... This is one of our go-to places living in Philly. Can't go wrong with the selection of meats, cheeses, olives, sandwiches, coffees, oils, breads, butters...really anything you can think of that would be in an Italian market place. I go here when I want to have my own little charcuterie party. If you like prosciutto, here's where you can find it either pre-packaged (but very fresh) or get it sliced. The service is efficient, although it gets pretty crowded on the weekends and I've been in there during weekday lunch when it's a bit crowded as well, especially of looking to get something from the deli/sandwich/ready-made counter. Stopped at this awesome Italian shop on the main level and the restaurant was on the second level. So glad we did. That shop has pretty much EVERYTHING Italian. I loved the variety of cheeses and Italian meats, fresh breads, sandwiches made to order, even Italian sodas and teas; Italian desserts and candy, snacks! Wow! I was impressed at their abundance of everything i.e. pastas, imported ingredients, etc. Upstairs is the restaurant Alimentari. Their menu features wines by the glass, cocktails and beer on tap and in bottles; beverages and a coffee bar. There was a variety of food offered also: chef boards, soups, salads and sandwiches, pizza, Italian plates, focaccia and desserts. I had the house grilled cheese and San Marzano soup. It was a perfect size- sandwich not too huge and perfect sized soup. That dish was very good and my sandwich was on a butter brioche with Reading raclette & taleggio. The cheese oozed out as I bit into it. The San Marzano tomato soup was superb and had fresh focaccia croutons and a basil leaf on it. I will be dreaming about that soup for a while. I also tasted the ceasar salad with the white goddess dressing and it was very good. Also sampled the hot Italian sausage rigatoni which was delicious! Was too stuffed for dessert although I went downstairs to get a small (yogurt-sized) tiramisù for later. Awesome place! read more
