Oh wow. This is a top shelf sandwich spot, with reliable deli classics and highly crafted inventions. The sandwiches are very well balanced. We ordered the Sisig Bolillo and Chicken Caesar Wrap. Both were relatively saucy -- the sisig with rendered pork fat and the wrap with Caesar dressing -- and the sauces layer in a great deal of flavor. Yet neither sandwich was overwhelmed by moisture, thanks to their breads. The lavash was a bit plain and, indeed, benefitted from the Caesar dressing, while the bolillo might have been delicious on its own as a crusty baguette. The crumb happily suspended whatever mayonnaise and fat melted into it. Pairing the deli's heaviest special with a lighter item made for a happy balance as well. There is onion to supplement, beautifully soft but uncaramelized, and a quarter-lime on the side to help cut the fat. The singular egg in the middle is a nice touch and I wish for more sweetness. However, the meat (oil) and mayo (oil) get a little too much. The lime and nominal thai chili are woefully insufficient to balance; I get meat, meat, more meat. Call me crazy, but I was on BART watching IG reels to kill time and this place pops up on my feed showcasing the Sisig Sandwich. I looked at the location and it's a block away from MacArthur BART station. I glanced at my watch and the place was still open and I immediately get off the station (since it was my day off, which is on a Monday) and walked briskly to this joint. They are still very busy with several people in front of me. I get to the front of the line and ordered the Sisig Sandwich. The lady at the counter pauses, and said: "Hold on, let me see if we still have any." I held my breath and finally had a sigh of relief when she mentioned that I was ordering the last Sisig Sandwich of the day. She was also very pleasant and we had a nice conversation about said Sisig. It's legit because they make all the ingredients straight from the head of the pig, which is the original Sisig invented in the Philippines. I guess it was meant to be. While waiting, I noticed they also served chips, particularly Asian chips that I haven't seen before. The place is bustling with people coming and going, while some are eating their sammiches outside. When I received my order, I couldn't wait to bite into, but first I had to admire it when I finally unwrapped her. It was just as advertised and you can see the cartilage on the pig ears chopped and minced to bite sized pieces. One bite and confirmed it's the real deal. The essence and components of a real Sisig are all present. This isn't an Americanized or tamed version to mask what is often considered as "nasty" parts by the Western world. To the rest of world that eats the "nasty" parts of an animal, this is normal. It's in its raw, natural form served proudly; packed full of flavors and textures. Been working my way through the menu of this really great deli. Parking is not as hard as some reviews on here suggest. You just have to park a block or 2 away (and try 40th st not Telegraph.) So far I've tried the Konbini egg salad (what sets it apart from typical egg salad is the fluffy thick Japanese mild bread.) My only critique would be to cut off the crusts as they are harder and chewier than I would like. The house banh mi is outstanding though not your typical traditional banh mi. It's super flavorful and juicy and like all their sandwiches I've had so far are not skimpy with the portion or the protein. The chicken Caesar wrap is also very filling, full of protein and has great flavor and I loved the croutons in it. The sesame bread they use for the Italian combo is so good! I was so excited to try this spot after some coworkers told me about their delicious sandwiches. Italian sandwiches are my favorite so I was excited when I saw a few options on the menu that really called to me. Their menu really does cater to a lot of tastes with sandwiches like hot chicken, banh mi, Katsu, falafel, and Italian and deli options. You'll want to check the menu the day of as it seems the menu does change and some items can sell out. I ended up trying the hot coppa & fresh mozzarella sandwich ($20) that had hot coppa, fresh mozzarella, arugula, shaved red onions, pepperoncini, house red pesto, and house vin on a rustic hoagie. This sandwich was beautiful and the flavor was just what I wanted it to be- a great mix of fatty, spicy, fresh and tangy. The house red pesto was a great touch. Finally made my way out to OK's Deli and wish I had sooner! Initially came for the Sichuan fried chicken sandwich and the weekend special Sisig sandwich, but that sold out. I'm so confused. Why do they call it OK? It's f'ing fabulous! (They say Ok's is pronounced Oak's, but it makes you wonder if there's some kind of weird copyright issue to spelling it the way you pronounce it.) I had an amazing Shichuan Hot Chicken sandwich. I requested medium heat. The cashier accurately described it as 4 on a 10-point heat scale. It's not just spicy hot, but also spicy in terms of a lip smackingly good mix of spices that bring that bring a symphony of heat. It's like they went to the Oaktown Spice Shop and got the perfect one dozen spices for a harmonious blend. I also got the House Ramen Spiced French Fries which were excellent. Again, a very harmonious mix of spices coating, perfectly prepared fries, Absolutely amazing. You can taste that the quality of the ingredients are "ono". Don't get me wrong, but I don't think the product warrants the high prices that they're charging. This is probably my favourite sandwich shop in the entire Bay Area. The quality of the bread and wide variety of sandwiches are amazing. Whether you're vegetarian, a meat eater, or have a specific flavour profile in mind, you'll definitely find it here. I've had almost every sandwich on the menu, including the seasonal rotation and some of my favourites are the Sichuan chicken sandwich, Italian combo, and ebi katsu sandwich. While this place is definitely on the pricier side, most of the sandwiches are sizeable and can easily be shared with a side. I will say that if you want a traditional banh mi sandwich, you're better off going to Banh Mi Bale if you're in the East Bay but honestly, you're not coming here for a regular sandwich. I don't think I've seen a more beautiful veggie sandwich. Freaking feels like I'm eating the rainbow, but like healthy and not skittles. The egg salad sandwich was also great but I don't think I can eat more than half! With the generous thick milk bread and heavy egg salad, it can get pretty filling pretty quick! In terms of sandwich, I won't say you have to get one or the other as I'm sure all their sandwiches are great. The only thing I say you have to get is the sesame kinako chocolate chip cookies. Other than it being HUGE, it's also soooo delicious with the sesame and kinako included. It provides a nice nuttiness that pairs well with the sweet chocolate. read more

I got the Italian on ciabatta with sesame and WOW--easily one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. I told myself I'd save it for the flight back to Boston... but that plan didn't stand a chance. Every bite was perfectly balanced, flavorful, and fresh. The bread had the perfect crunch, the meats were top-tier, and whatever magic they use to build their sandwiches deserves its own award. Finally decided to give this place a try after walking by it many times in the neighborhood. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There was a crowd of people waiting for their orders when I got there - always a good sign.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was a bit disappointed though that despite no one else being in line to order, I stood there waiting several minutes (an awkwardly long time) as the cashier prepped order after order right in front of me, including attending to online orders that appeared to be coming in AFTER I had gotten there. I want to be understanding of being busy and having to multitask, but I don't think it's good customer service to leave someone hanging there for that long while you are stapling things on paper bags. Would have taken 30 seconds to just take my order and get back to the task. Anyway. I had to go with the Sichuan spicy chicken, as a lover of spice. Was offered mild or hot - when I asked how hot is hot, was told mild was 4/10 and hot was 8/10. I like spice but don't want to be sweating buckets so went for mild, just in case. I think 4/10 was pretty accurate - it's not super hot, but builds as you eat. My first bite impression was that the chicken was super crispy (yum), flavorful, but also very salty. Overall the sandwich was flavorful, punchy, and I see why it's popular. However, I wasn't personally wowed by it. I think it could have maybe used more sauce to make the sandwich a little juicier? And I think I would have liked more balance from the other ingredients. Overall for me it was just a slightly glorified fried chicken sandwich, and I see why a lot of people love it, but it's not something I would feel the need to indulge in again. read more
