One year later, and this place is still one of my favorite burger spots. Stopped by to help celebrate The Station's first anniversary and, true to Station fashion, they went all out. The pink and blue balloon arch, birthday decorations, and festive touches made the whole place feel like a celebration. One thing I always appreciate about The Station is the atmosphere. Even though it's all outdoor seating, it never feels like you're just eating outside. The space is thoughtfully designed, comfortable, and has a fun, welcoming vibe. To celebrate, they were offering special shakes, cones, and of course... sprinkles. I ordered the Coffee Milkshake with sprinkles (because why not?) and my usual Single Cheeseburger. It's a classic smashburger with American cheese, grilled onions, pickles, and their house-made sauce. I always order mine without the pickles, but that sauce is what keeps me coming back. We skipped the fries this visit because we really came to celebrate their milestone and try the anniversary treats. Congratulations to The Station on one year in Berkeley! It's not often I'll happily drive across the Bay for a burger, but this is one place that's absolutely worth the trip.

John called me to discuss the "Say Cheeseboard" at the Hillside Club event of June 10. So at around 6pm Sunday the 14th, our tete a tete took place here. I had bought a surprise! Now to be clear....I like the single patty Station Smashburger.... but what I truly adore is the mustard grilled cheeseburger with both WHOLE grilled onions, raw onions, ,& xtra: 1. pickles, 2. tomatos, 3. & crispy cool iceburg lettuce, with mustard & ketchup on the xtra toasted bun & the spread on the side assume y'all know where from.... In N Out Alameda!! so to try & mimic my adored version I brought us crispy iceburg, a small white onion & a big pretty ripe tomato & a knife turned a good smashbuger into a sublime version with a the textural complexity that a gooey smashburger doesn't hold a candle to just my informed 79 yo opinion ...if you don't agree.....eat it

Meet me at The Station! The Station is an outdoor eatery that offers a select menu of smash burgers, chicken sandwiches, bowls, milkshakes, and soft serve. Prices are moderate. It's also located in a really nice area and I liked how the seating is mainly outside with some enclosed space in a balcony / patio area. There are also heaters! Parking can bit rough though as it is limited. I wanted to try something different, so I got the Saigon Smash and Vanilla Soft Serve. The Saigon Smash is Viet inspired grilled chicken sandwich with pickled daikon/carrots. It tasted pretty fresh and healthy, but personally I would've wanted the chicken to be fried / crispy. One thing I wasn't expecting was how good their soft serve was. Sooo creamy and not too milky! Easier on the stomach than I anticipated. I also got to try their smash burger with their fries. Meat to cheese ratio was great and I enjoyed the bun. Really solid in terms of flavor and looks, but would've liked lettuce or some sort of veggie besides the onions. Their fries are shoestring and similar to In-n-out's. Definitely coming back for that soft serve and perhaps another kind of sandwich or bowls! It was really lively at night and large group friendly.

I Came for the hype,,, and I stayed for the vibe. The atmosphere is awesome It's a cool old gas station aesthetic, outdoor fire pits, friendly staff and a fun community feel. Perfect spot to hang with friends or take a date. Now the food... the smash burger was way too salty for my taste and the super-soft bun made it feel more like I was eating a burrito. The fries????Also loaded with salt. Be warned: the special sauce has a real kick if you're not into spicy food. Big shoutout to the vanilla milkshake it was the MVP of the meal. Overall: Great service and ambiance but next time I'm asking for less salt, please!

What can I say other than: I came at the right time. A line formed behind me shortly after I fell in line with maybe 3 groups ahead of me. I've driven past this place with an even longer line and refused to join. I live close enough that I can always come back. The line was reasonable, the wait wasn't too bad. I felt I waited maybe 20-30min in total. I ordered to-go: - 2 back alley single patty burgers (smash burgers) - side of fries - 1 chocolate, 1 strawberry hand-spun milkshakes I was told the crispier the edges, the better the smash! And it did not disappoint. The fries were okay, but I really enjoyed the burger! I liked how simple it was and not too expensive (similar to Gott's burgers). I would definitely come back and make it a double patty!

While my daughter was familiar with The Station, she gave me a wonderful treat by suggesting that we go there for lunch. We both got their Crunchy Kale Salad. My daughter added a meat patty and fries and we loved our lunch. As a Dad visiting from Manhattan, I was a little saddened since the Big Apple can't compete with The Station when it comes to really outstanding salads like the ones we had at The Station. When we arrived, a few minutes before 11 am, one of the staff members , ( Jimmy) apologized that they were still getting organized. Jimmy was so helpful when we ordered tgat I wanted to give a shout out to him! Even before they opened, a long line was forming since this place has clearly earned a great and well deserved reputation!

I've tried this place a few times through door dash but was not ready to leave a review until I came in person. Right off the bat, the service was super kind. They have a window that you order at with outside seating. Some tables have umbrellas while other parts have a structured canopy. They have a straight to the point menu. I always get a double back alley burger and a side of fries. The bun has a little bottom so none of your yummy condiments fall out. The bun is so so soft and fluffly. The onions melt in your mouth. The fries are golden crispy shoe string fries. The kicker is that while this place is delicous in person, it also stands up through door dash. Even after sitting in someone's car for god knows how long, it still arrives delicious and fries not soggy.

Amazing burger and ice cream! Line is long but moves super fast. Nice service and family vibes too. Lots of seating.

Finally able to visit the Station. Just ordered the Smashburger and it was pretty tasty. The potato bun was very soft. The meat had a nice crust on it and the fries were hot and crispy. The sauce was a combo of relish and siracha. Ambiance 10/10 Food 9/10 Bathroom 10/10 Cleanliness 10/10 Service 10/10 Value 9/10 Will I Return? Yes

I've always driven by this and never went. First time here 2pm on a Sunday and there was still a line! People seemed to be coming and going so finding a table wasn't too hard. Seems like plenty of seating in the shade. Got the Holy Cow + jalapeños and a chocolate shake. Shake was pretty good! I removed the cheese from my bowl and it was good! The grilled onions added a lot of flavor. Didn't wait incredibly long for food to arrive. I think the price was good. Not much parking but usually can find street parking in the surrounding areas!

Wish I found out about The Station earlier! After looking through some reviews, I decided to get doubles on the burgers. I usually think double patty is too much meat but the burgers are really smashed here, so it's actually just the right amount. Double back alley burger $10.95, double saigon smash free range chicken $12.95, fries $4.95 each, milkshake $7.95, house sauce $.95. We were asked if we wanted sauce when we ordered the fries, so it wasn't 100% clear that it was an extra charge until we looked at the bill/menu harder afterwards. The back alley burger is fantastic, double patty is definitely a must. Great flavor, would get the pickles on the side next time as the buns are not toasted. The buns are nice and soft, so eat quickly! While I think the buns are great, I do think they should be toasted, for both flavor and longevity of the burger. Great smashed and salty flavor on the meat. I actually came for the saigon burger but thought the back alley burger was a lot better. The saigon burger, while a cool concept 'banh mi inspired burger', underwhelmed me. The daikon and carrots were quite bland and not pickled enough at all. The chicken patty pretty bland as well, I think pork patties would be even better. Overall, cool concept, not much flavor. Not enough jalapeños either. I think it has a lot of potential, just needs more flavor amongst the different components. The milkshake isn't worth it at all for $7.95. It's very milky and doesn't have much coffee flavor. The aftertaste is a bit odd... not sure if they're using flavored syrups or something instead of flavored ice cream. Can't recommend and wouldn't get this again. The chocolate dipped cones looked good though... maybe next time. Fries were great, very salted, just how I like them. Thin, crispy, salty, and hot. Unfortunately, the house sauce that's $0.95 tasted like it was sat out for too long. You know when you get In-N-out and the spread sits out for too long and then it turns orange/starts tasting funny? That's what it looked and tasted like. You order and then sit down with a buzzer- good chunk of outdoor seating. Self serve ketchup and water. There were heaters that would presumably turn on when it gets colder. Rounding up to 4 for the smashed back alley burger.

Was waiting for traffic to die down before we headed through the tunnel and stopped with The Teen to grab dinner before we went home. The line was long, but moved fairly quickly, so don't let that fool you. The burgers were delicious down to the last bite, the fries were just crispy enough, and the lemonade was definitely lemonading!! Service was great, front of the house was handling the hustle and bustle of the hungry people with ease and very kind in doing so. The ambience cray busy, but chill at the same time, the people just kept coming and thank goodness the dogs were not barking! Definitely will be going back, making my original back alley burger a double, getting the side of the house sauce and trying shake too.. Wait... they do have shakes right? Yes they do... A hand spun shake to be exact, chocolate!

Double smash burger and single smash burger with fries, jalapeños and house sauce.

10/10. Kinda in the up skirts of Berkeley but easy to find. Food: we ordered a double smash burger and a single smash burger with fries, jalapeños on the side and house sauce. 10/10. Would recommend and would try again. Believe the hype. I am a burger connoisseur and this place has been on my list to try for a while so when I finally had the time, I took the opportunity and it didn't disappoint. The fries were great! Did not even have to ask them for semi well done as they came out hot and crispy! Wait time: yes, there was a wait. About 15-20 mins but it goes by quick. By the time we got done eating, there was no line. I'm sure it comes in waves. Parking: street parking only unfortunately and can be tough. Bathroom: clean. Functioning. What more can I say? The toilets flush, the water runs and there was soap and paper towels. Ambiance: good for all parties. Come solo or bring the family, they have something for everyone. And they have beer and wine too!

The burger was fresh and flavorful--you can taste the quality in every bite. The onion rings were on point too: crispy, not greasy, perfectly cooked. Dipping them into the habanero mayo gave it just the right kick. Definitely recommend that combo. The staff was friendly and kept things cool even though there were only two or three people running the place. The spot itself is small, just a few tables and chairs, with a little bit of Latin music playing in the background, which gave it a nice touch. When I first got there, it wasn't too busy, but by the time I finished, it was filling up. Walked around the block to stretch out, came back 15 minutes later, and the place was packed. What's also impressive is that their fried chicken sandwich was voted one of Yelp's Top 50 Fried Chicken Sandwiches in California, ranking #33 in the state. That's what I'm definitely trying next time. Final verdict: Great burger, great onion rings, friendly service, and a spot worth checking out if you're around University Ave in Berkeley. Two thumbs up from me.

What I don't understand is why I'm charged an additional $2.50 for the lettuce wrap when I'm not even getting the bun. If you're taking something away, what's the justification for adding an extra charge? I could understand a modest upcharge, but $2.50 for a few leaves of lettuce is hard to justify. I can buy an entire head of lettuce for about that price. What bothered me even more was that no one mentioned the charge when I placed my order. It wasn't until I picked up my food and saw the receipt that I realized I had been charged extra. Customers deserve to know about additional charges before they order, not after the fact. When I politely asked why there was a $2.50 charge, the employee simply looked at me and said, "I don't know." There was no explanation, no offer to ask someone else, and no attempt to address a perfectly reasonable question. That level of customer service was just as disappointing as the surprise charge. The burger was excellent, but this experience left a bad taste in my mouth. At this point, I don't plan on coming back. Or maybe I'll just bring my own lettuce next time. Better yet, just give me the burger without the bun, and I'll wrap the damn thing myself when I get home.

In Berkeley, Bongo Burger will be there. Unless you're talking about the Center Street location…read more That one will not be there. It, along with others legends on its block have been shuttered to make space for a residential high rise. Time was when Bongo Burger, like an invading army, had the Cal Berkeley campus forced against the hillside. A location of the burger stand flanking the north, west, and south. A very campaign to reestablish the Persian empire via American fast food. While the western battalion has been slaughtered by landlords and developers, the will of Xerxes lives in the original location on Dwight Way. Really, the thing - the only thing to get here - is the Persian burger. An oblong sheet of spiced ground lamb (sorta kofta like) between a crisp lite sesame roll. Tomato, red onion, shredduce and mayo. Get a side of fries. Frozen fries, but the best kind, crinkle cut. Extra edges means more opportunity for crispiness and also nice downy interior. I know it already gets mayo, but dipping into ranch helps enhance. Not just because every California yokel slathers everything in ranch. Because ranch is kinda like an American analog of tzatziki, or since we are in the Persian empire, maast-o-khiar. If anyone knows the artist who painted the cheeky pieces on the wall and the design for the Bongo Burger shirt, please let me know. each piece is dated 2001, and displays keen examples of the Global Village Coffee House Aesthetic popular through the 80s n 90s. A trip here is like an excavation, viewing striations of change across time.

There's even the familiar smell of the grill and the site of the larger-than-life carrots waiting to be juiced. But the ambiance. I don't know, man. I've dined in twice, but since then, I've only ordered ahead and brought food back to the office. The Center Street location didn't look like much, but it was a fun, busy place either to wait for or to enjoy your food. This location? It feels crowded. I'd be lying if I didn't admit that I miss the lovely Iranian woman who often helped my coworkers and me at the Center Street location. I sometimes think about her when I hear about violent crackdowns in Iran and obviously this most recent, pointless war. I hope she's OK. She is a very sweet, intelligent person, and I often enjoyed hearing her takes on politics and the news of the day, even if I didn't always agree with her. The service I've had at this location has been fine. Efficient and mildly friendly, but once you've experienced the warmth of a familiar nice person, anything less is a letdown.

We went to Gather on Sunday 6/7/2026 for my aunt's belated birthday dinner. Since my mom made a…read morereservation in advance, we were seated right away. For our drinks, I had the Moonlight Blossom, my aunt had a glass of red wine, and my mom had a cucumber mint spritzer (mocktail as she was the DD). The moonlight blossom tasted similar to cherry limeade. The entrees we had were the mussels, veggie burger, and the chef's market pizza. The mussels themselves were tasty and appreciated that they were able to leave out the chorizo. However, I wish that they brought a spoon and there was more broth. I tried some of my mom's veggie burger and the red color from the beets made it stand out from the usual veggie burger. The fries tasted homemade. I had a slice of the pizza and while I like the ingredients themselves, the combination just didn't do it for me. The crust was good though! We also shared a green goddess salad, which was tasty. The desserts looked amazing but we had no room! Service was friendly and our waitress made good recommendations. Can park on the side streets or the garage. Restaurant was not noisy. Would come back to try other items, especially dessert.

There was no wait time and we were able to get a table. The server was very sweet. I am vegetarian and was looking for veg options. She went through the menu with me and helped me think through. I got the vegan spicy tomato pizza and my friend got the shakshouka. We also got some herbal tea to go on the side. The tea came out pretty quickly and tasted great. The food also came out pretty quickly. The presentation of the pizza was top notch and I could not wait to dig in. The portion size was adequate. The vegan cheese was yummy and the spice level of the pizza was just right. The pizza was packed with flavor and thin crust! My friend liked the shakshouka too. He said it was flavorful and tasted great! Over all, we loved this restaurant. The ambiance is very welcoming and they have farm to table concept. If you are looking for a nice restaurant with farm to table theme, look no further!

First Impressions: Barney's Gourmet Hamburgers…read more Mother/Son lunch date at Barney's Gourmet Hamburgers! Yesterday, while in Berkeley, we decided to try BGH for lunch. Honestly, I can't say enough about how pleasant our experience was. Located in Berkeley, I was able to find street parking with a 2-hour limit close to the establishment. Upon our arrival, we were greeted and given the option to dine inside or on the covered patio. Although it was beginning to rain, we opted for the outdoor seating for the ambience. The fire pit, heated lamps, and the umbrellas really set the tone for a relaxing dining experience. The boys ordered a plain hamburger with curly fries, chicken tenders with skinny fries, and Oreo milkshakes. I decided on the specialty western burger and a Turkish coffee. I was assured the kids' fries would be plentiful, so there wasn't a need to order à la carte. The food was delicious and flavorful with great portion sizes. Our needs were anticipated, kindness exuded from the staff as well as timely servicing. We dined uninterrupted but not neglected. We raced to see who could complete the word searches, rated our food, and enjoyed each other's company while watching the rain fall. 10/10 we would do it again.

The burgers looked really good, too (they are known for that, after all). Service was fast and fantastic! And the space is quaint. Love the frames and hardwood floors. Jupiter's been a Berkeley staple for 30 years and it's easy to see why. The two-level beer garden with the firepit and string lights is the whole vibe, and the church-pew-and-tin interior (it's an old livery stable) gives it character you can't fake. Came on a busy night, which is Jupiter's default state, and the service was still great. Ordered a personal pizza. Their wood-fired stuff is solid, not life-changing, but exactly what you want next to a house brew. Decent food, great beer, unbeatable atmosphere. It's a two-second walk from the Downtown Berkeley BART, so there's really no excuse. Student, alum, or just passing through, post up in the beer garden and stay a while. Some things don't need to change, and this is one of them.

Totally BARTable as well. If you plan to BART in, the closest stop is Downtown Berkeley. There's also plenty of garage parking nearby.
