We really wanted this place to have fantastic food. It is an individually owned barbecue place and we love patronizing those type of businesses. The staff is super friendly and inviting. However, it takes more than that to make a good spread of barbecue and this place just doesn't compare to good Oklahoma barbecue. We ordered a loaded, baked potato with beef., short ribs, baked beans .. The price is very reasonable and fair. The food did not taste like there was any smoke pit involved. Visiting Tulsa for a conference and came across this place by sheer coincidence. This is the best bbq I've had in a long long time. The ribs are impeccable, smoked perfectly, and comes with a spicy bbq sauce that burns sooo good. The sauce starts a little sweet but the afterburn will catch up with you. On our road trip from the west coast, we stopped in Tulsa for lunch. We found Oklahoma Style Bar-b-que and we were so glad we did. The food was amazing! These guys do some seriously good eats. There is something about their smoked bologna that makes it disappear as soon as I get my hands on it. This then make me full of baloney so take the rest of the review with a grain of bbq sauce. They have the usual sandwich combos and dinner entrees which comes with two sides, I usually stick to those and choose my level of pigging out. A brisket and ribs combo will set you right but if you want to take it up a notch go 3 meat with some hot links. The chopped brisket is good on sandwiches but I prefer sliced if I am doing a dinner. The ribs are usually good with loads of meat and a great smoky flavor. I only get chopped brisket if I am having sandwiches and I want a little left over, if not its all sliced brisket. They have the usually sides, I usually go light on those and get the turnip greens and coleslaw or beans. The beans are a bit on the sweet side but good if you have been hitting the hot BBQ sauce a little too hard. The sweet sauce reminds my of my favorite for the sandwiches. New location, post COVID and still delicious. The spare ribs were smoky and flavorful. Unfortunately I got the short ribs end piece which was a little dry. The sides were expertly seasoned. Of course an Oklahoma native eating with me had to order the smoked bologna sandwich. How this can be considered bbq remains a mystery to me. Service was fast and friendly and the cue was good. Slightly spicy & sweet sauce on tender sliced brisket. I got the sliced brisket sandwich to go. It consisted of a large portion of the aforementioned sauced beef (you have the option of sauce on the side) and 3 slices of white bread separated from the meat by waxed paper. My cousin visited this place quite often. Every time he made a post on social media, I made sure to check them out. I'm a BBQ lover, it was only right & this place serves incredible food. I got the dinner that comes with two meats & two sides along with your choose of roll or cornbread. My meats were the links & chopped beef. It comes with a variety of BBQ sauces, I went with the sweet sauce & their spicy sauce (ask for both so you can get the best of both worlds). My two sides were the green beans & baked beans. Their beans don't need BBQ sauce, they're super good with the right sweetness. The green beans help balance out the sweet from the baked beans with the salty. I ordered the peach cobbler as well. They have a plethora of sweets to choose from, including a dessert that's on a separate menu (along with fish specials as well). The cobbler was SO good. I have been eating at Oklahoma style for years and I never noticed they had loaded baked potatoes. I was not disappointed! It was the biggest potato I've ever had. Oklahoma style has great chopped beef and links so it definitely hit the spot with the sweet bbq sauce. They are not skimpy with the meat or bbq sauce. For my sides I chose potato salad and baked beans. So barbecue was pretty good warm it could've been hotter not spice just hotter. The sides tasted like out of Walmart deli not homemade not original and in a little tiny small container. I wouldn't even counted as a side it was probably two bites and then it was gone. Customer service was OK got a half a smile. The dinners and a plate full of meat my 9 year old was wanting ribs, so I got her the adult plate and she pigged out. It was way more than her tummy could hold, but she gave it her best. Arrived in drive through at 1812, set in drive through behind 4 cars that never moved. I went in at 1825, finally got to the register at 1835. The lady went in the back and said it wasn't done yet and I was behind 3 other orders, they had misplaced my ticket, so now I have to wait behind people that was just ordering. I had to cancel order as now I am late for work waiting on this place. Tried to call and the lady that answered could care less and hung up. Best BBQ in Tulsa! I grew up almost across the street from Pete's BBQ of 36th st. North. When we moved away, we never found BBQ as good. Not in Texas, Memphis, or California. When I moved back home a few years ago, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Oklahoma Style BBQ was Pete's family. Mattie Pearl has kept the family tradition going and is offering the best BBQ in Tulsa and maybe the state. I'm often seen breaking my diet at this place. I don't use a lot of sauce but when I started getting full I had to try both sweet and hot. Sweet has an underlying flavor of a fruity preserve-/delish. The hot is hot but if doesn't grab you until you swallow then the HEAT IS ON. DELISH. Now ribs-- smoky, lots of meat, good bark, moist, great bite and they didn't cut them from the slab until we ordered which kept them moist. Definitely recommend definitely be back. After a long day at the Tulsa Zoo, I talked my family (all 13 of us) into trying Oklahoma Style Bar-B-Q after one of the park employees recommended it. Being from Western New York, it's hard to find a great bar-b-q. We usually settle for Famous Dave's because it's good and within driving distance. We arrived there after 7 p.m. on a Tuesday, so we did not have a crowd to deal with. The majority of my family is very skeptical about trying new places. I could see it on their faces as we entered the restaurant, but I think when the smell of the bar-b-q hit them, they were turned. The menu was not huge, but did have enough to offer for everyone. My wife, son and I ordered a family meal deal, which included 2 pounds of meat and two large sides and three drinks. Plenty for us, whit a little left over to take home. The rest got individual meals for around $7-$8. All meals came with a few slices of bread and two sauces. The ribs, chopped beef and chicken were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The side dishes of cole slaw, potato salad were amazing. Nice flavor. The two sauces (one hot one mild) were outta this world! Sweet, but not too sweet! Spicy, but not too spicy! The sauce was so good, we even brought home a gallon back with us to New York State. Did not try their selection of homemade pies, but the pecan, sweet potato and cheesecakes looked superb. This place is a favorite of a vendor I was visiting, and he warned "it's in the hood" - even better, so it must be decent then. On a business trip from New Jersey to Oklahoma, I asked the hotel folks for recommendation on a great barbecue place. And they recommended this restaurant.First off, The meat was excellent.
