The ribs lacked seasoning and didn't taste smoked. The Polish sausage had very little flavor. The chopped brisket was dry and under-seasoned. The baked beans were not cooked properly and were unpleasant to eat. The mac and cheese tasted like it was made with Velveeta and lacked flavor. The only items that were enjoyable were the barbecue sauce and the bread. When I first walked in, the experiencing of eating there was off to a good start since the staff was friendly and hospitable. After ordering the food off the menu and receiving the food relatively quickly after ordering, the waiter politely explained the condiments to eat with BBQ meats. They're extremely accommodating, and the room reservation is free with no required reserve to be met. The private space holds about 30-35 people, and the service is always very good. The food is solid and consistent. Albert G's has some of the best BBQ in the city! In the heart of Tulsa, OK, Albert G's is a big space with tables, Booths and a bar with high ceilings but a bit dark. The service is great as the Hostess, greet and sit you with a smile. The servers are very knowledgeable and check with you often but not enough to be intrusive. The highlight is of course the food where the dry rub ribs are the highlight. The ribs are tasty, tender and practically fall off the bone. In addition, the Beef brisket is as tender and can be cut solely with a fork. The potato salad has a firm texture with a bit of sweet tang. Our 15th 'cue stop in Oklahoma, and the 398th nationwide, brought us to the Downtown location. On street parking proved easy at one in the afternoon, and the building was an architectural gem. Be sure and admire the ceiling here! The food had its ups and downs. We ordered a dozen wings, queso and chips, and ribs with okra and broccoli. Two refillable iced teas brought the tab to $55.34 plus a nice tip for good service. The ribs, with their rub leaning to the peppery side, were very good, and needed no help from either of the two sauces on the table. The broccoli was broccoli, but the fried okra was very well done and thoroughly enjoyed. We also liked the brisket queso, and intend to play around with this dish when we get home. Alas, the wings were dry and curiously lacking in flavor; it took generous dollops of the ranch dressing to redeem them. I used the sweet barbecue sauce but had a choice of hot barbecue sauce and spicy mustard. The pickle bar was a nice touch where they not only had pickles but jalapeños and sweet peppers. I had a root beer and our very cheerful waitress made sure I had a refill before I even asked for it. My partner had the sliced brisket sandwich and he said it wasn't dry at all. He loved it! The Mac & Cheese and Potato Salad are not five-star sides. The chopped brisket tasted distinctly of liquid smoke and nothing else. The Mac & Cheese has that Kraft artificial cheese powder taste. The potato salad had good flavor, but the consistency of mashed potatoes. The service and ambience, on the other hand, were 4/5. Big tables, big screens, lots of space, helpful servers. Albert G's on Harvard is very close to where I live but I love coming to Albert G's on 1st Street because the interior is so cool. It's much larger than the original location as well. I'm here for the Wednesday night half-chicken special that comes with two sides and Texas toast. There is a great beer selection downtown and they also have happy hour Monday through Friday 2 to 6 PM offering some food specials and a few lower priced drinks. There are few restaurant/bars in Tulsa that I can't get enough of. Either the items are too expensive, the ambiance isn't worth dining in, the service is inconsistent or it's too damn far. But never do I have any of those issues with Albert G's. I grew up in a single-parent household with 4 brothers and sisters so you could imagine that we didn't eat out often. My mom knew of many BBQ places in town but she would treat me to Albert G's on the most special occasions. The food left a huge impression on me as a kid and now, as an adult, I am a stout supporter of this establishment. I am one of the biggest fans of Albert G's. I've always visited the downtown location but I've ordered out from their other branches as well. At this point, I've sampled almost everything on their menu - from their meats, sandwiches, and their sides - and I've never been disappointed! I enjoy the Nachos as appetizers, very healthy portions are provided every time, and the sliders, no matter which meat you get. A few of my favorite dinner items are the Chopped or Sliced Brisket, Tulsa Style Ribs, and the Turkey Breast. Given Albert G's reputation, I'm sure the other items are excellent as well! As far as the sides, you can't go wrong! I really like the sweet potato waffle fries, fried okra, baked beans, mac & cheese, and the potato salad. Lastly, PLEASE visit on Wednesday or Saturday so you can have the Smoked Chicken! I wish it was a regular item on the menu but it's worth the specialty, truly! The only reason I haven't had a chance to try their desserts is because I'm usually STUFFED by the time I finish dinner! Outside of the food, I am consistently pleased by the atmosphere of the restaurant. There's always a host ready and available to seat you. There's a diversity of seating options - booths, high-tops & a bar. Outside of the TV's that're usually playing a sport of some sort, the place is soothingly quiet. I've never had a bad experience with service, ever. From the host, to the bartender to the server(s). In addition, the bar is fully serviced. The bartender can make any type of cocktail but also has a solid knowledge on the beers in-house, seasonal or not. For the reasons stated above, I keep this establishment in a tight rotation. I try to visit at least once per month, or more, throughout the year. I don't know who the owner is but I'd like to sincerely thank Mr. Albert G! I went here with my husband and a friend of his last week. I am not a huge barbecue fan and as they didn't have any smoked chicken on this day I went ahead and got the wedge salad. It was $6 which sounds like a good deal until you realize it's a 4th of a 99 cent head of iceberg lettuce lol. The dressing was good and there was lots of bacon on it .
