OH! MY SWEET GOODNESS!!!! My dad use to grill and cook up some delicious BBQ! And it was good...but THIS OKLAHOMA JOES BBQ...WAS AMAZING!!! I ordered the burnt ends and it just melted in my mouth. I haven't been a fan of OK BBQ SAUCE (it's too sweet), but they added just enough not to have the burnt ends to taste like dessert chicken (sorry Oklahoma). With this succulent feast of beef, I ordered some chicken wings! And can when I thought it couldn't get any better...I almost had a happy cussing fest! My heart melted as the flavors of the smoke, fried, chicken wings took hold. I said I'm done...I can leave earth. This is it! This is the last meal moment!! And when I thought things couldn't get better, I tasted the Mac and cheese and it brought me back down to reality. The Mac was overcooked and mushy. That not the Italian way or black way of Mac n cheese. Not sure what happened here but the fried okra took me back to the midway place between heaven and earth. The corn confirmed by Tina was moist, tender and flavorful but it ain't Bixby corn. The okra battered and fried whole is moist and delicious. I always sliced it and tossed the ends. I now know better. Hot links are always good hot or cold as long as you have the right beverage. It was a big plate and because of that there was no room for desert. Next time. My wife and I decided to enjoy some barbecue for my birthday. Since we recently attended an event at Oklahoma Joe's, we wanted to enjoy the front of house experience. After entering the front door, you walk to the right up to the order area. There we were greeted by a friendly lady that took our order and provided us a number along with drink cups. The soda fountain is located in the dining room where you have a selection of Pepsi products. I opted for water. The restaurant has music playing in providing a relaxing atmosphere. We found a table by a window and the food arrived quickly to our surprise. My wife had the two meat (pulled pork and hot links) dinner and I had the brisket dinner. I had the cole slaw and baked beans. Everything on my plate was prepared to perfection as was the food on my wife's plate too. Unfortunately, we didn't save room for dessert. However, don't pass up the cherry bread pudding if you have room. It is very delectable and worth every consumable calorie. This Oklahoma Joe's location can be found in a large plaza with plenty of parking. Located in the same plaza as Rincon Mexican Grill & Cantina. My husband and I came here for a late lunch. We arrived around 3:20 pm. We were greeted by a very friendly employee. After browsing the menu, we ended up ordering: Wednesday Special: BBQ Baked Potato, $11.99 prior to tax (normally $13.99) + $1 brisket- I opted to order the Wednesday special and wanted to try the brisket, which is worth the extra dollar. I had the added sour cream and chives (at no additional charge). This potato also had melted shredded cheese. The amount of brisket I had on this baked potato was incredibly generous. The brisket was tender, juicy and very flavorful. The baked potato was perfectly cooked and the perfect vehicle for the meat, cheese, sour cream and chives. A great deal, I would definitely order this meal again. Burnt End Dinner, $19.99 prior to tax- This meal comes with 2 sides, my husband picked potato salad and the best beans on the planet (that is the name of the beans, not proclaiming anything). This meal also comes with 2 slices of toasted bread, cut in half. The burnt ends were very good, as it was flavorful, tender and also quite juicy. The potato salad was okay and so were the baked beans. Oklahoma Joe's is my favorite BBQ chain. They have the best ribs for me so far. The ribs are a must try item at Oklahoma Joe's. The meat is tender and falls off the bones with each bite. When done, all you have left is clean pieces of bones. The house BBQ sauce is simply amazing, one of the best BBQ sauces out there. The best feature for me after all these years is still the fried okra. Their fried okras are whole okras instead of slices. First time at this Oklahoma Joe's. Arrived at 7:00 with a small group and the place was nearly empty with only a couple patrons. I ordered a 2/meat platter and I got Turkey, Pulled Pork. Mac & cheese, baked beans and cold Texas toast. The only thing I really liked was the baked beans. The Mac & cheese was unconventional because the Mac was not normal sized or shaped but longer solid macaroni. The cheese was not very flavourful. I've had more tender, juicy Turkey at other BBQ joints and the pork was shredded too fine and was more or less cold as was the Texas toast. I decided a bbq lunch was a good choice. OK Joes was nearby. I ordered a chopped brisket sandwich and a added a rib. The sandwich was ok. The rib however was TOUGH. I am used to rib meat slipping from its bone like dandelion seeds from their stems. This has to be pried from the bone like money from a miser. The flavor was mediocre at best. I would definitely consider checking out Oklahoma Joe's for your next big event as they have a hidden gem of a room called Pager Hall. We had the privilege of attending the Yelp Elite Squad (YES) Yelpies 2023 awards event at Oklahoma Joe's Pager Hall event room. The room has easy access to in the rear of the restaurant. It is a very spacious room for large events. It has wood and brick wall accents, specially made wooden tables, various champion banners hanging from the ceiling, and a nice bar. The event room had a projector and screen available. The buffet and bar provided good room for service. Tom, one of our attendants, provided a nice history of how Joe got stared in business. Even though my wife and I are primarily are vegetarians, we loved the fried whole okra, the creamy macaroni and cheese, salads (Tossed & Ceasar), and onion rings. They offered baked potatoes and side veggies which we passed up. I splurged and tried a small amount of pulled chicken on Texas toast with their spicy barbecue sauce which was delicious. My husband went to talk with the manager he was speaking with an employee and when my husband advised them the food was cold the manager walked away like he didn't hear anything. The food was delivered to our table but never checked on to see if all was okay. My husband went back and spoke with the lady that works there and she did gave him $30 in gift cards. I travel a lot and since I started my keto diet three years ago and have since lost 45 pounds, I eat a lot of barbecue. If you skip most of the sauces, barbecue is high protein and low carb. Still, I had great service both from the woman at the register who rang up my purchase and from the bus boy (bus man?) who brought my beer and later cleared off my table. I chose the ribs with one meat dinner. My sides were the spicy slaw and onion rings. Mostly keto compliant because the onion rings were breaded. Okay, close enough. My meal was brought to the table a few minutes later. I took my picture and dug in. Holy moly, this is amazing. The ribs were meaty, tender and no, not "fall off the bone." They were instead done perfectly with just the tiniest amount of chew and bite. No need for sauce here but definite need for napkins. The sliced turkey was flavorful, moist and absolutely delicious. I did go with just a dab of the spicy sauce from the squeezie bottle on the table. Spicy slaw was not all wet with mayo and vinegar, instead of was crunchy and delicious and not at all spicy. On Sunday, June 22 my family hosted a 75th Birthday party for me at Pager Hall within Oklahoma Joe's BBQ Restaurant. It was, without a doubt my best birthday EVER thanks not only to my children (who planned ever sweet detail), to my husband, John, who smoked pounds and pounds of meat (which the restaurant allowed us to bring in) and my 75 friends who were on hand to celebrate with us. The Manager, wait staff and bartenders could not have been any more accommodating as they scurried around to bus the tables, prepared the tasty drinks for our guests and even cleaned up after the party was over. Oh, I almost forgot, they also supplied take-home boxes for those who wanted just a bit more of the tasty food. I would HIGHLY recommend Oklahoma Joe's Pager Hall for any type of festivity, meeting or gathering you can think of. You will not find a more people-friendly, cost conscious, perfect venue in Tulsa.
