    Beer line Saturday night.

Leavenworth Octoberfest is a reason to party for most, it's not a fall German celebration! It has the facade of German beer, lederhosen an a little German music but it does nothing to get you to feel the German culture which is sad! It's a body with no soul. The festival is small compared to other Octoberfest around the country, but it is crowded with long lines for food & beer! The food inside the festival is absolutely terrible! Save your tickets for the German beer. Come back to Leavenworth outside Octoberfest, you will get a much better feel an it will be a lot cheaper.

This is strictly for Oktoberfest 2013. This was my first year coming to Leavenworth, so I wasn't really sure what to expect. I love the town, it's got just the right amount of Bavarian charm to make it just as unique to Germany as possible. I wished I were able to explore the town some more but its hard to do when there are thousands of people around. I knew this place would probably be overpriced, so I wasn't expecting anything less than that. The entry fee for getting in on Saturday is $20. Don't bother purchasing your entry on-line, that line had a longer wait time then just paying at the tent, and you save $2 per ticket (on line fee). Once inside, you'll need to immediately purchase tickets for EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING. Food, Beer, Wine, and even your beer mug if you so happen to want one. It's $1 per ticket, and beers were 5 tickets. The largest mug there took 2 cups of beer to fill it up decently, not full to the brim, but good enough. The little wines were 5 tickets as well and they were about 5-6 ounces. They only had Zinfandel, Chardonnay, and Merlot. Some of the beers I tried were pretty mellow and I liked that because I'm not big on bitter beer. Also if you plan on staying the night in a hotel, you probably want to start booking now!! We had to stay in Wenatchee at the Holiday Inn since it was relatively cheap and not too far away. Everything in Leavenworth was booked up of course and if it wasn't, it was $360 per night. I don't even pay that for Vegas hotels, so I'm not paying that here. LOL The so called spicy hot dog was not spicy at all and was very lackluster. It was over cooked, dried, and tasted like um nothing. One thing I wished was different about this place is that they bring in GOOD, authentic German food. Possibly have some hard cider available on tap next time too! Expect the tents to be jam packed during the evening when everyone shows up. This is where they keep the hot dogs, the bands, and the seating. I call this area the SardineFest. I doubt we'll be back for Oktoberfest any time soon or ever for that matter, but I wouldn't mind coming back and staying during off-season if I can find a good Groupon deal for one of the Bavarian style hotels in actual Leavenworth.

Last time I went to Leavenworth for "Oktoberfest" it consisted of me and my friends sitting around a restaurant table, eating, drinking beer in lederhosen and dirndls and singing. I'm sure the locals thought we were nuts. Forward 27 years - this isn't München or Stuttgart, but wow I'm impressed. There's a reason this was voted Best Oktoberfest in North America by several national periodicals in terms of intimacy, authenticity and aesthetic. Over three consecutive October weekends, expect to witness: 1.) 15,000+ women (roughly 50% wearing dirndls). 2.) 15,000+ men (roughly 40% wearing lederhosen, plattlerhosen or bundhosen). 3.) 25+ varieties of German beers shipped directly from Bavaria. 4.) Satisfactory menu of German food basics. 5.) A plethora of German bands playing traditional Oktoberfest music - most of whom were flown in from Germany. Honestly, this was one of the funnest nights I've ever had. And yes, I do get out a lot. Tip: Leave the sports jerseys and baseball hats at home. Invest in some authentic Bavarian ("trachten") attire. It'll make the experience MUCH better. Trust me.

We liked the dark "Dunkel" as it was very smooth despite the dark color and the Ayinger had the biggest kick (over 7%).

Oh, Leavenworth. I was pondering if 4 or 5 stars was what I was going to drop for the town of…read moreLeavenworth. In the end I decided to be generous and give 5 stars. What could deduct at least one star is all of the traffic and congestion in this quaint German styled town. Once you do get your car parked you are in for a really long walk. Not that I personally am against walking per se and I am actually fond of doing this activity daily but those who may have mobility issues it could be a real struggle. It doesn't really matter what time of year you come here as it always seemed extremely congested. But I know to avoid Leavenworth around Christmas time as the level of congestion definitely "levels up" considerably from what I hear. Leavenworth's prime time is Christmas and from the pictures I have seen the town looks beautiful. There is an option to take a train to Leavenworth during this season which sounds like a lot of fun and it would definitely avoid parking problems. Despite throwing in congestion and parking problems at the very start of my review each time we have visited and endured these things the shops, the German style chocolates , the restaurants that serve German Sausages and the breweries have proven to make the hassle worth it. However with that said one kind of has to psych yourself up for a Leavenworth trip and if you are looking for a super chill vibe perhaps exploring towns like Lake Chelan and Wenatchee might be better and they aren't too terribly far away from here. Not only is Leavenworth is heavy in German themes and decor it's also nestled in the mountains which really add to the dramatic effect and you can get the feeling you may be in Europe aside from closer observation that everything is written in American style English.

Came here on a weekend after Christmas weekend is not as fun as I thought. It was raining and it…read morewas too crowded. Not many parking lots around the area and it was all full. I got stuck in traffic vast majority of the time trying to get into town. Drove another 20-25 mins just to find a parking spot on the street blocks away from the park. Once parked, we tried to find a restaurant to eat but all of the places have a waitlist of 3hrs to 6hrs long for a party of two. How ridiculous is this? So we opt on picking up bratwurst and pretzel/cheese dip at a food stall next to the park called Leavenworth Village of Lights. Bratwurst ($14) and pretzel ($10.50). It cost a total of $26.61. The area is pretty and a cute little town but over crowded and no other activities for families. It is no longer than 5 blocks stretch. This is a one and done area to visit but will not be coming back again.

This ranges from professional photography prints, painted works of various styles, pottery, jewelry, artists who will draw you as a caricature, metal sculpting and much more. The tents are located right near the event gazebo in the center of Leavenworth. Hard to miss. There are Artists who find residence for the duration of the season of Art in the Park, but there are also new artists joining so any visit to Leavenworth will mean a good reason to stroll through Art in the Park if you like crafted works. In addition, the regular artists may have one of a kind works so if you see it once, you may not see it again and on repeat visits the likelihood of something new being for sale is high. If you're in Leavenworth, along with all the sights you take in, pass by Art in The Park. Support local artists and maybe find that one of kind gift or decor for yourself or a friend.

There were quite a few booths - probably 12(?). Fun and inexpensive - bought a great print for $6.00 for little one from Wee Cottage. We saw all the family members in the introduction video, and then it was so cute to see them greeting us at the gate, giving the welcome speech, and handing out food for us to feed the reindeer. It felt so personal and genuine. They gave very clear guidance on what to do (and what not to do), which made the whole experience feel safe and well organized. You can tell they take amazing care of the property and, most importantly, the reindeer themselves. Getting to feed them, pet them, and take photos up close was such a special experience. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Leavenworth!

Up Close With Reindeer--An Experience You'll Never Forget!…read more The Leavenworth Reindeer Farm is an absolute must-do and easily one of the most memorable experiences in the area. Located just a quick five-minute drive from downtown Leavenworth, this farm will completely blow your mind. You may have seen reindeer at a zoo or farm before, but this is nothing like that--this is a truly interactive, hands-on experience you won't forget. Your visit begins with a short video presentation that introduces the history of the family-owned farm. Every member of the family is involved, and their passion for what they do is genuinely endearing. You'll also learn some fascinating reindeer facts--like how reindeer are vegetarians and, in winter, eat lichen exclusively. Even more impressive is their incredibly strong sense of smell, which allows them to locate lichen buried deep beneath the snow. The farm has two designated interaction areas--one for parents with children and another for adults--to ensure guest safety and prevent anyone from accidentally getting poked by antlers. Each visitor is given a small cup of feed, and the reindeer eagerly approach. Their muzzles are surprisingly soft, and the food disappears almost instantly--followed by hopeful looks for more! While it's tempting to keep feeding them, the family is thoughtful about maintaining the reindeers' health, weight, and overall safety, which is completely understandable. Before you leave, be sure to stop by the gift shop, where you'll find fun souvenirs and great apparel to remember your visit. This experience is popular for good reason, so reservations are highly recommended. If you're visiting Leavenworth, don't skip this--this is the kind of experience that stays with you long after the trip ends.
