What a find for South OC. Huge variety of dishes with generous portions and affordable prices. It's a big restaurant with tons of seating and I'd be surprised if there is ever a long wait. They give you paper menus and have an easy to use QR code setup to order (we did see a couple tables ordering from a waitress). The cucumber salad was much larger than we expected and was a nice balance of sweet and salty, we will definitely be getting this dish again. The hot and sour soup was quite sour and once again was a huge serving. The scallion pancake was crispy and flavorful. The sesame balls were huge and tasty, we probably would have ordered more if we weren't so full. We also got the pork chop fried rice and the pork was nice and juicy with a crunchy exterior. Each dish has its shortcomings and opportunity to improve. Beef Udon with black pepper could scale back on the black pepper. While the concept of the dish is great, the absence of black pepper deterred us from selecting the dish. XLB (soup dumplings, had limited broth and pork inside. Tasted fine but lack the balance between the dumpling skin and the rest of the items. Shumai had a specific flaw. One of the pieces had a hard tendon that was inedible. Ruined the experience for that particular piece. Over all dish was ok. Spicy wonton also tasted good but lack the flavor of the spice itself, thus losing a bit of its identity. Pleasantly surprised! We were in Mission Viejo for an appointment and decided to stay in town for an early dinner. We found this restaurant through Yelp. We are Chinese food aficionados and have dined in many many Chinese food restaurants in OC including the big names and also small restaurants and I must say Seven Fold has one of the best Xiou Long Bao we have even had. The staff was friendly and brought us water almost immediately. Love that they had some sports playing on the TV and it was quiet enough to have full conversations. Inside is a pretty ample sized dining room with plenty of tables. Restrooms are also clean and can be found straight to the back of the building. We were immediately seated. The service was very friendly and attentive throughout our experience. --What we ordered-- 1) Xao long bao (pork) $13.77 - 5/5. Steaming hot, juicy and very flavorful. 2) Fish roe shrimp & pork shumai $8.77 - 5/5. Plump and delicious. 3) wonton soup (pork) $12.77 - 3/5. The wontons were good and we really enjoyed this, however, the broth was unfortunately bland. 4) Green bean with garlic $15.77 - 5/5. Well seasoned and perfectly cooked. There were a couple longer pieces where I wish they would've ripped the seam of the green beans off because it got stuck when I tried to swallow it...twice. 5) Pork & shrimp dumplings (pan-fried) $13.77 extra &1 for pan-fry - 5/5. Crispy and tasty. 6) Cucumber salad $5.77 - 5/5. I normally don't order these because serving sizes for the price are expensive. This was so fresh you could taste it. The sauce was so good. Got food poisoning here possibly due to raw pork dumplings. My friend and I went and got a few dishes, most of which tasted pretty good. However the low rating is due to being served raw pork dumplings twice. First time my friend noticed that 2 of the pan fried dumplings were stuck together and the dough was still raw, so we let the waiters know and they were apologetic about it (based off their behavior it seemed like this happens semi-frequently) and sent it back into the kitchen so we could get a new batch. Second batch came through and the pork filling was pink. Although the place was nice and food tasted alright, I just think you can't fail to cook your signature item twice in a row and have it be roughly $30 per person. Definitely will not be back and I'd warn against bringing any elderly/kids here especially. read more

We came here for a group lunch on a Thursday and it was almost completely empty! There were 9 people in our party, so we did family style within each side of the table (so our "family" was 5 people). I ordered pork dumplings, pork/shrimp wonton soup, beef/onion dumplings, 3-piece vegetable spring rolls, chicken fried rice, and Passionfruit green tea. I ordered ALL of my dumplings, steamed. Soup, ALL dumplings, spring rolls, and tea, were all delicious! Tea was refreshing, and dumplings were succulent and juicy! The chicken fried rice was mediocre, at best! The soup was flavorful. In fact, AVOID the chicken fried rice, it was way too moist. When I arrived yesterday, it wasn't super crowded. The service was poor and fell short. I felt ignored and unvalued. No real communication. I had to yell for my certain things, after politely waving them to come to my table for to-go boxes and check. They didn't check in to see how I was doing or if I liked anything else. The service was so disappointing. As delicious as the food is, I'm saddened to say that I won't be returning.
