I just got done eating at Ol'chefski's for the first time earlier today, even though it's my 3rd time driving there. They had sold out early the other two times. I have no problem with this. In fact, I think it's cool when a place is so popular because it usually indicates a high quality product. For a place that is described as "Cleveland's Best BBQ", I was underwhelmed with some overpriced food. For a three meat combo (4 ribs, average portion of brisket, average portion of pulled pork, and mac and cheese), it cost $38. I can overlook the high prices if the food is exceptional, especially considering the state of the U.S economy. But, the problem is that for all the hype, the food is just ok. Let's start with the positives: the pulled pork and the mac and cheese. The pulled pork was very tender, juicy, and flavorful. It had that nice fatty texture that I look for in pulled pork, along with spices that gave it a unique flavor. It had a mesquite, almost bbq chip flavor to it. The mac and cheese is ooey and gooey in the best possible way. The pasta shells were cooked perfectly and the cheese sauce is super creamy. The flavor is simple, but it works. If this was all I ordered, I would give them a 4 star review. Now the negatives: the brisket and the ribs. Most of the slices of brisket were pretty tough and chewy. Other than the mild smokey flavor, there wasn't much else going on. It was just not cooked properly. It was probably the toughest brisket I've ever had. Similarly, the ribs were just bland. Additionally, some of the ribs were not trimmed in the back, so there were really chewy parts that I didn't eat. Don't get me wrong, the ribs were ok, but just ok. I've had much better in this area for less money. If I were to compare this place with their closest competitor, Oak and Embers, I would give the nod to Oak and Embers. I swear I have no affiliation with OAE, but I think they really are better. Their brisket has a similar flavor, nothing special, but it's much more tender. Their ribs are far more flavorful, well-trimmed, and just seem to be superior in quality. They are slightly cheaper and offer you two sides, plus a nice hunk of sweet cornbread with your 2-3 meat combo. Ol'chefski's meat combos don't come with sides or cornbread; it costs extra. Lastly, they are a nice sit down restaurant with a full bar and a dynamic menu, unlike Ol'chefski's. Overall, Ol'chefski's is a solid roadside bbq establishment with friendly service and decent enough food. But, it is nowhere even close to Cleveland's or Northeast Ohio's best bbq. If you are expecting them to be, you will be disappointed. I wish them all the best, and obviously this is just my opinion. Try them out for yourself, and see what you think. read more

Unfriendly they'll send you back outside 10min before they open but let others skip the line and serve them before they open at noon. Bad service. Also they pack everything in a ton of plastic even when dining in. read more

I have been eating ribs all over the country for many decades; 5, and these are the very worst rubs I've ever eaten. With all the 5 star ratings how possible? It's a mystery to me. If you like eating lumps of sugar with a trace of smoke because certainly they are the sweetest ribs I've ever tasted and if you like eating a slab of lard which indicates and represents a poor method of cooking preparation probably boiling them or steaming them and then putting them over a smoky grill for a little bit to crisp the exterior but leaving all the fat in the ribs. Good barbecuing techniques cause the fat to melt drip away. That is not the case with these ribs. I suggest just buying one slab of ribs not like me who bought 3 1st time around with this outfit and spent around $80 Including some sides, good goeslaw. It really pains me to say how bad their ribs are, talking about the ribs only. Thinking on it further see if you can buy a quarter slab or half a slab to give them a test first. You would be better off going to Marc's and buying a slab of Tony Romas for 10 bucks. read more

I've eaten in thousands of restaurants and written hundreds and hundreds of reviews. This is the first time I've been in a restaurant that deserves a -5. We went there with our kids and grandkids for lunch today. Something very unusual happened after I ordered $85 worth of food And the menu was such that for some people. It was hard to order but we got by with it when the lady brought out the food my son asked for a couple glasses of water for the kids woman says we don't have any water my son said ,well by Ohio law you're required to have water if anybody asks for it now I have to preface this by saying that I tried to order diet pop for everyone and they told me they were out of diet pop, so my son said that they were required to provide water tapwater not bottled water just have water and a glass for anybody that asked in that state .I don't know this but that's what my son said she went in and sent out the manager or the owner, who then started to yell at my son, and says since they didn't serve liquor, and since it was mainly a to go place, they didn't have to give anything to anybody This is over a couple glasses of water you understand the woman who first talk to us then came out and started to scream at us then two police cars pulled up and said you have to leave the premises. We all got up and left and left the food that we had paid for sitting on the table, the police actually walked with us to escort us off the property. This is the first time I've ever been thrown off the property of a restaurant for asking for a glass of water the worst place anybody who goes there is out of their minds. read more

Definitely not the worst BBQ spot you'll ever eat at. This isn't quite a restaurant as much as a small intimate eatery on a working farm with picnic tables under a canopy where you can sit and eat. The weather will obviously play a big part here! The food is definitely prepared well even though I've had better 'Q in other places but to be fair, I have only been once and haven't tried all their offerings. Not sure why this mush is called BBQ? The only thing good about the pulled pork is the smell. I've had better cafeteria BBQ in a hospital. Doesn't compare to Oak and Embers or Old Carolina. Very disappointed! I will never go back. I did not like the taste of their barbecue ribs. I got their regular barbecue sauce, which they said was their most popular. There was very little barbecue sauce on my ribs plus I did not like the taste of it. They said they make their coleslaw fresh every morning. I usually like coleslaw, but I did not like theirs. I ate a little bit and threw the rest out. I read about this place, when it was a little shack on Route 82 and always wanted to try it. Tried this over the weekend and was super-impressed! This little hut out in the middle of nowhere is worth the drive. The pulled pork sandwich was enormous and the coleslaw was delicious. The quaint setting with picnic tables and a nearby duck pond make it very family friendly. I only wish they had some fresh cut fries on the menu. Then I think I'd be out there every day! read more

My husband and I drove over 45 minutes to this place ! I had seen reviews on the internet that it was very good. I called about 4 to 5 times during the day to get info on it, but they never answer just played a recording. we took the drive and when we finally got there we were told they were SOLD OUT !!! At 5:00 on Saturday !! It is just a shack that you have to order inside and get styrofoam plates . At least they could of answered the phone to tell people. It's hard to find really good BBQ in NEO, but this place hits the spot I had the ribs and pulled pork. The pulled pork sandwich was packed full of meat and the ribs were perfect. The Mac and cheese was solid. You have to give 24 hour notice for a slab of ribs and they don't have chicken on the menu. Those are the only negatives. I'll definitely be back. read more

Got there and they were already out of pulled pork & Mac n cheese. Paid 25$ for a mediocre brisket sandwich and a walking taco with a water. Ambiance is like someone is serving you out of their backyard. The ONLY redeeming quality was the actual meat... but was not trimmed well so the brisket sandwich was very fatty. OMG! Where has this place been these 8 years I've lived in Streetsboro trying to find good BBQ! If you haven't tried this lil hidden gem, then your loss! My hubby and myself just smashed the Jo Boy(Black Forest Sausage with coleslaw, fries, and BBQ sauce), the Filler (Pulled Pork Sandwich with slaw and sauce, and the Walking Taco with Fritos. I'm in a freaking food coma. This is honestly the best Po' Boy I've ever had, better than most BBQ joints in Cleveland. Everything was super fresh; lettuce, tomato, coleslaw, and meat. Fresh ingredients are key to any good sandwich or salad. I swear I might put on 30 lbs this summer, cause I'm going back again for sure, lol! The hubby is a pulled pork connesiur and he didn't have one complaint. It was the best he's had in a long time. This is definitely a Geniuine Slap Yo Mama Cause It Taste So Darn Good BBQ Joint! Loved it here and no idea how we managed to miss this little gem of a bbq spot. It's easy to find and really low brow. However, they have great bbq and sausage sandwiches and we loved it . My mom had found out about this place from a friend of hers. We decided to give it a shot one afternoon. Wow! It was really good! The pulled pork was delicious. The BBQ sauce was spot on. And I liked mine topped with the coleslaw. I think the sandwich without slaw is called Wilbur and the one with is called Filler. Fun names! The mac and cheese was tasty. Next time I go I'm curious to try out their other sauce...a red pepper hot sauce I think. I definitely plan on coming back for more when I'm in the area! read more

I would like to suggest they toast their buns, as the bun was a bit soggy. They do drain the kraut. And the kraut and bbq sauce are delicious. I'm a little surprised Jason's wife gave me the kraut recipe!! Thank you. I asked for more chopped onion and more of the bbq sauce to top off the pulled pork sandwich, and they didn't charge me extra. I must say they do a fantastic business, and the shack really isn't a shack at all. It has the exterior of a "Tiny House". The property is cheerful, with Beck's beautifully laid out...outdoor vegetable stand, and the picnic tables. They put a newly paved asphalt parking lot in. And they definitely keep it spotlessly clean. I know Rebecca (Beck), as I have been buying homegrown produce from her for years, and she is particular. Jason has two pit smokers, and I love the Menu.
