This cafe is a real treat. Elegant but not ostentatious, or formal. They start you off with delicious coffee and as many refills as you want. The menu covers the basics but the meals are anything but basic. Mine was the right size; neither to big or small. I've been here several times this summer and the breakfast sandwich and the Bennie are my favourites. Service is usually excellent although they seem to host a lot of events (wedding parties, etc) which can slow things down. Presently they have some nice jazz music filling the room but it's definitely quiet enough to easily hold a conversation. My only gripe is that the sign is easy to miss so you might have to drive around the block. I've always found free parking right out front. You won't be disappointed if you come. read more

Came here for Beverly Dining week. I really felt bad for the one server running around and the one person who seemed to be cooking. They were swamped. Ambiance is quaint. A place that you would be happy to take your mom or grandma to. Lots of coziness with the accents and wood. Fairly basic menu. Breakfast items and some burgers/sandwiches. I noticed now they serve wine and beer which is new. I had the LemLem Burger which included a Spicy Ethiopian-style patty and dressing with diced tomatoes. My husband chose the bacon cheeseburger. We both got fries. It took a LONG time for our food to come out. Burgers were good. Fries were a bit disappointing. I really liked my lemlem burger really great spice in it. Hubby loved his burger too. Prices here were good for the quality of the food. However, perhaps they should think about hiring staff for peak times. read more

Cute private room which we had organized for our event. The cafe moved our time 3 times because they had double booked. This was a big inconvenience for our 25 guests. While the room was cute, the service was bad. Slow. Untrained. Unprofessional. Trying and sweet but inefficient. The food itself was just ok....a few things were ok, a few things were not good. However, the price was attractive for our large party. Come here if you need a cute private room, just have very low expectations for the rest. read more

Old Beverly Cafe is a hidden gem on 118 Ave. The inside is so welcoming and suits the ambiance for both a casual breakfast or a fancier high tea. The restaurant is split in two with a more rustic side and a more Victorian side. This is by far the most affordable high tea in Edmonton. Each person can pick their own tea flavour and a nice assortment of classic finger sandwiches, sweets and scones were included. The scones were plain with a side of cream and orange marmalade. There were 2 of each finger sandwich, which were egg salad, cucumber and salmon. We each got strawberry short cake, chocolate mousse cake and a mini vanilla cupcake. read more

Popped in for lunch & what a little gem on 118! This cozy spot feels rustic & comfortable (a Little House on the Prairie meets coffee shop/book nook vibe. A small menu with a few surprising choices (daily breakfast until noon, burgers, sandwiches, hotdogs, bowls, etc) Prices are reasonable for the size of the portions - *funny how something could look small but really, it's the same portion size of the item if I'd make it at home, so I don't know why I think it's small?? The burger menu sounded interesting so we had a bacon cheeseburger and a lettuce wrapped lemlem burger (spicy Ethiopian patty) Both were $8 + $6 to add a side and pop. The lemlem was delicious!! Soooo flavourful, very spicy, definitely something new-to-me and I loved it. The rest of the food was good, the soup a homemade tomato bacon with dollops of creamy cheese? Sour cream? A very cute spot and I'm curious to try their German-style burger and a poutine next time. Also vegan/vegetarian options on menu. Booked with a friend for High Tea at brunch (10 AM). Lovely setting with lovely service. Tea and scones with clotted cream were excellent. Little sandwiches with crusts off were on the dry side and filling was nothing great. Building is old and heating it must be a challenge -- it was only -4C on the morning I visited but it was absolutely freezing next to the window and in the restroom; I saw many patrons keeping their coats on (I wear a full base layer in the cold months, had jeans and shirt over that and ended up putting on my coat). My guess is that everyone is in the same boat these days with having to choose between eating and heating. Of the dainties on the tray, the strawberry shortcake was good if a bit dry and the chocolate ganache piece was excellent. I was left with the impression overall that the scones and cream were the freshest. Water for tea was kept refilled and was hot to help dispel the chill. Parking nearby is easy to navigate without cost. Service was above and beyond and was really the high point of the experience aside from visiting with my friend during the post-Christmas week. I would love to return and have a proper breakfast or lunch here as the location, setting, and service were definitely rewarding, and maybe a hot meal would tip things up to five stars. read more

So awesome. What a wonderful little cafe in Beverly, everything about this place is fantastic. The decor is done up in an old western pioneer style and feels very rustic. The owner is so friendly and often times is running the place solo taking orders, cooking, serving, etc and we never have to wait very long. I usually get the Lemlem burger made with Ethiopian spices and it is truly fantastic. This place is such a hidden gem. read more

We came by for a breakfast and coffee, it was pleasant inside and we were so surprised! This gem is located in a not-so-rich area of town so we weren't sure what to expect, but the ratings were so good, but now I know why! The lady who runs it is very friendly and the food is delicious, but what really got us was the attention to detail of the décor. She didn't miss a thing, there were even cushions in the bench nook! It was super clean and relaxing and quite a REFRESHING change from the normal trendy type of café, much quieter and the music was excellent. RECOMMENDED! read more

My husband had $14 french toast with fruit on top and coffee, I had $14 coffee, some how when we were the only two people there the cook or the waiter, more like both, FORGOT about me after they told me what I originally ordered wasnt available. So a $14 cup of shitty coffee, that was my breakfast. We eat out 10 times a week, we will NEVER return here. Sadly there is no negative rating available. read more

This place offers a very simple yet diverse menu. For example, they offer poutine three different ways including Butter Chicken. They offer three burgers, each one with its own cultural style. I went for the Ethiopian style Lemlem Burger which includes a hot sauce and peppers. It tasted fantastic and the prices are fantastic to match. If you are looking soup, sandwiches, fries, breakfast or burgers, they are worth a visit. read more

Such a cute, cozy space. We really love the way it's been decorated. The couple that own and run it are very nice people and the service was really good. The menu has a nice variety and very reasonable prices. I had the Lemlem burger which is covered in a spice that comes only from Ethiopia. Nice and spicy!
