In town for work, Old Chicago was real close to hotel. First visit ever to this chain. Atmosphere was good; good lighting, decor,,lots of TVs for sports. Great beer selection. Where it all went wrong was the pizza. I ordered a personal pepperoni, sausage and mushroom on hand tossed crust. Flavor was good but soooooo soggy in the entire middle of this Tiny pizza. Went with the ski team as we were all staying at the hotel connected (Best Western). Reservations at 7:30pm - back room wasn't ready yet. No biggee - it was only about a 10-15 min wait. The issue was the service. Granted we were a big group but these poor waitresses seemed to not know how to handle a big group. It took close to 1-1/2 hours from the time we sat down to the time we received our food. The kids were starving. We ordered cheese curds to help tie them over as we learned they could get those out fairly quickly. The food was ok. Nothing to write home about. But by the time we were served at 9pm, you could have put nearly anything in front of us and we would have eaten it. Next time we stay here, I will opt to go somewhere else for dinner. read more

An hour later we were informed they had a printer in the kitchen breakdown and our order was not processed. Our food would be available in ten minutes or so. We were given one basket of garlic bread to munch on while we waited. It still took over forty-five minutes to get our food. The manager apologized the first time he informed us our order had been delayed, but that was the last we saw of him. Waiter developed an attitude when I asked for a detail bill vs a summary ticket. My daughter softball team and their families met after tournament for dinner. They were very accommodating getting at the party room. The waitress worked very hard to service in a timely manner. We did feel bad for her they gave her a group of over 40 people with no assistance. We ordered all meat deep dish. I would rate a tombstone pizza much higher than the one we received. It is not a true Chicago style deep dish pizza. The regular crust pizza was thicker than the deep dish. Other parents ordered a chicken strip basket or a sandwich basket. The children's menu items were bigger than those they received. The most disgusting part of the evening was when she brought plates for our pizza. Took my two kids there after an event downtown. Was conveniently on the way as my son had to pee. Was very pleasantly surprised. Food was really good for this type of restaurant (it's not Michelin 5 star so let's not expect too much). Better than Applebees or Red Robin hands down. Price was decent given recent inflation crap. Waitress was really working hard even though they clearly were understaffed which is pretty much everywhere these days. Still served with a smile. Opened not too long ago, and they came out with a bang! Great beer selection both bottled and tapped. It seems like local brews and seasonal beers will rotate. I suggest getting a pizza as an appetizer if you want to experience the rest of the menu. I ordered the chicken salad wrap and it was very good! Only stopped b/c we had old-time photos taken at the Best Western. We will NOT be back. The server, who admitted she'd only been there a couple of weeks, couldn't answer any of our questions. We were the only ones there when we went in. An HOUR later, there were 5 other tables seated, and we still hadn't received our food. When we finally got our grilled chicken and fries, they were cold and we were not given silverware, napkins, or ketchup. My husband got his calzone 10 minutes later. We used to live in Dubuque, so OC was one of our frequent haunts. Our experiences while living there were all over the board, but this was the worst experience we've ever had there. We waited for 20 minutes to be seated, even though it wasn't busy. And then we waited for another 20 minutes before some poor girl who wasn't even our waitress to notice we hadn't been served yet. And then we waited some more while watching the one who was supposed to be our server and the host chatting it up at the waiter's station, only to end up being served by the poor girl who noticed us in the first place. The food was mediocre at best - I asked for Chicago style deep dish pizza and they messed that up - I ended up getting thick crust pizza instead. My husband seemed to think his sandwich was okay, so no complaints there. Then, after waiting 40+ minutes for terrible service, we felt rushed to leave, even though the restaurant wasn't closing for another hour. After such a horrendous experience, they could have at least taken some off our bill, because it was their own fault things turned out badly, but, alas, that didn't happen. The convenience of having it connected to where we were staying seemed appealing; clearly, though, convenience comes at the cost of good food and good service. We won't be coming back. read more

Once seated we waited 10 minutes and I had to ask the host if they knew we were there. 35 minutes later our food came and couldn't believe it, but it was all cold. So they took our pizza back to run it through, because the kids and my husband were fine with theirs being cold. Currently have been waiting for 10+ more minutes and haven't gotten our pizza yet. Not to mention, my sister had to go retrieve silverware herself so my children could eat. When my sister walked to the bathroom, she witnessed the kitchen staff flipping his hair back with his bare hands and continuing on with his duties. All around a disappointing night out for my wife and I. We first waited for 15 minutes before anyone came over to take our drink order. The people who came in after us got their drinks and their appetizer before anyone came to check on us. My beer was good, my wife's cocktail, the Long Beach, was not; I'd be surprised if there was any alcohol in it. She ordered a beer then, she ordered a sour and was brought an IPA. When it comes to the food, that was also a letdown. We both got individual size pizzas and mine was fine, I got a deep dish but the sauce just tasted like it was out of a can and it wasn't anything special. We (our party of 4) were seated and ordered our food (1 large pizza, nachos grande, and a calzone) at about 6:05 pm. Our food didn't come out until 7:25 pm. When our food came out, the pizza was Luke warm at best and the nachos were clearly reheated multiple times. The member of our party that ordered the calzone said that was good and hot. And their projected time for pick up (25 minutes) was off by only 3 minutes. Pizzas were very good (ordered two 4-topping pizzas). Everyone who ate them enjoyed them, too. Well, that was an interesting experience. We walked in, got seated... and proceeded to wait 15-20 minutes before having to go back to the host for a server. She asked where we were sitting and starting referencing table numbers... which I clearly didn't know. Let's just say the bartender gave me the exact bottle I wanted and I took it back to the table myself, and just added it to my bill. Now I'm not going to complain about the food, nobody's fault but Old Chicago's... however full green olives on a pizza seems a bit weird. Once the meal was done our server did the best job he could considering he was clearly just given the table, and totally unprepared. Then after dinner we saw the on duty manager go to other tables, talk to other guests, but we were not approached. Then walking out we couldn't break up the hosts conversation enough to wish us a good night. I've never been one to complain... and I've been in this industry through college. We used their private room for a birthday party and he experience was flawless. Management was easy to work with and the wait staff was great. We had well over 30 people all going on separate checks and they did a great job. It was free for the room too which was an added bonus. Waitress was okay but it got to a point where her and the rest of the staff were most interested in getting the place shut down. I'm writing this review from my seat in the restaurant as we have been waiting for 22 minutes for a birthday cookie for my father in law (which we fully planned on paying for). This was after we sat and did not order for well over 15 minutes (I lost count). It was so bad that the waiter asked to take our menus because he forgot, but he hadn't even taken our order yet!
