Great food here! I'm Cuban and always hunting for authentic Cuban spots in Orlando and this place really hit the spot. My husband and I have already gone a few times. Everything tastes authentic. We have tried the cafecito, juices, croquettes, empanadas, tostadas, vaca frita and the lechon asada. Everything was delicious. Super fresh, tender, flavorful and just plain yummy. Was in the area and in the mood for Cuban food. We have been to the one on Alafaya and like it. I'm not sure if they are all connected or not. I think not. I hate to leave a not so great review but because the reviews are so important to me... I think it's important to let potential customers know to check your food here before leaving to make sure your order is what you expected. I ordered the breaded chicken with the black rice and black beans and plantains. I did not check the order, assuming that it was correct. I mean I've never gotten something "different" when ordering "breaded chicken" ‍. I wish I would have known that the way they served the "meat" was different than I've ever seen at any Cuban restaurant before. I say "meat" because when I got home and opened the container I realized that it actually was not chicken but steak. I have never personally had Cuban breaded chicken or steak with ham and cheese on top and ketchup I'm the middle of it. Not knocking it for those who like it but it would be nice if that detail is included in the menu so that you can have the option to order without. I drove about 45 minutes to eat this food, so was really bummed that the food was so disappointing. My pollo Milanesa was poorly packaged in a too small styrofoam box, and was over cooked and fairly certain that the tomato sauce used was just ketchup. I'd genuinely like to go back for breakfast as I get a great breakfast cafe vibe from the place! Tonight, however, I could do with or without. We were greeted with a non-verbal scolding (grunting/gesturing) for walking on a dry but freshly mopped floor. I get it so I moved on. The chicken fillet in garlic was tender and juicy and the sides were fantastic. Unfortunately the Cuban sandwich authentic was quite lackluster as the hearty portion of pork was extremely dry and made the rest of the sandwich hard to chew and swallow. I've had better Cuban sandwiches at non-Cuban sandwich joints and fast casual establishments. Lastly the Quattro Leche cake lacked flavor. It seemed like eating a bowl of cool whip with a few cake crumbs here and there. It almost looked like it was pre-portioned and store bought. I had been here before several years ago and didn't really care for the food here but when I heard that they changed management and changed the layout of the restaurant as well as the food, I decided to come back and give it a try. Breakfast was amazing, simple ingredients, fast service. I came in at 8:30am on Saturday and almost every single table was filled, so apparently the word has gotten out that they make awesome food here to the point where people will actually get up early on Saturday to eat here! The best deal you can get is the two eggs, cuban bread, choice of ham, sausage, or bacon, and french fries (I skipped the fries) You get all that for $3.99 so yeah; there's really no reason why not to give it a try. read more

Two stars for a Cuban quick service restaurant. Practically no service, since you have to flag down a waitress to get a refill, the check, dessert... anything. And there was barely anyone there! They do not keep the tables clean and the bathroom's cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired. On the contrast, the sandwiches are very good. I had a ham and cheese on Cuban bread, my dad had a pastrami sandwich, and my mom had the chicken on a bun. All three were delicious and enough for two people. We stopped at this restaurant after church. When we walk in we noticed the nice decor and wall painting. Very típico. The waitress were very attentive and nice. Let's talk about food. I ordered a tripleta and they didn't have it so I switch to a medianoche sandwich. My sandwich was good and warm but my fries were all cold. My mom ordered a congri with bistec and tostones. The tostones were super crunchy meaning they were re fried and super hard. I think the tostones are not fresh but from a bag. The last thing we ordered was a Ajiaco with white rice and tostones. This meal was good but again the tostones was a failed. I was hoping to get a better experience since the last reviews were good. I'm disappointed and will not come back. I have been here several times but this is the first time I have been able to Yelp! about Old Cuban Cafe. Being a first generation Cuban American and growing up with that Cuban 'sabor' all my life I always compare it to my cooking or my mom's(Abuela.). Had lunch here the other day. They have daily luncheon specials to choose from. The special of the day was a stewed chicken, tostones, and arroz congri. It was delicious. The portion was quite generous and filling. I do enjoy going to Old Cuban Cafe a lot. To me it becomes a breakfast list staple because of their Island breakfast that features two eggs (scrambled or fried), buttered bread, fries and choice of bacon, sausage or ham. Did I forget to mention that coffee is included and it is only $4.25 (that includes tax). Besides breakfast foods the sandwiches are nice, filling and not too expensive. I think the most expensive sandwich may be $7 but everything I have tried is worth the price. Another thing that I would recommend here is the natural juices. I just had the orange just here today and it was so delicious that I can imagine that the rest is great too. My one tip for non Spanish speakers is to be patient with the staff. A lot of the servers are more fluent in Spanish than English. It doesn't bother me though because it helps me practice. read more

Solid. This is a solid place to come for breakfast or lunch. They have delicious Cuban breakfast food like omelettes, eggs with chorizo, croquettas de jamon, and other pasteles as well as pretty good cafe con leche, cafe colada, and cortaditos. What I love is their sandwiches. The Cuban sandwich and media noche are fantastic as expected, but I highly recommend people try the Choripan sandwich. It is a delicious tapestry of guilty pleasures like serrano ham, chorizo, cheese, and pickles all grilled hot on a plancha. It is really a fattening dream. If you're new to Cuban coffee, I suggest getting the cafe con leche which is mixed with a good portion of milk to mitigate and sweeten the extremely strong cuban coffee. I personally love cafesitos which are just straight up cuban coffee. But, what's great about life is you get to CHOOSE which coffee you have! read more

Food was ok. I liked el cubano better on colonial. Not only was the food better, the service was amazing! Here, some of the ladies that worked there were openly staring at my boyfriend and I and it just seemed rude. They didn't get my order correct, the red beans contained no beans at all (it was liquid only), and the lechon was laughable! The one good thing we had was the flan. A sandwich order took over half an hour, I assume because they lost the order somewhere as other orders didn't take as long. To their credit I did not have to repeat my order after asking about it so they must have found it. I witnessed several other service issues while I was there: a request for an extra plate taking so long the couple finished eating by the time it arrived, slow refills, etc. I ordered a Cuban sandwich, a staple at a Cuban restaurant, right? Meh. The bread was good but everything else was sub-par. To include the meat being cold despite the sandwich being hot pressed. The portion was large & it came with unseasoned fries. To wrap up the experience I asked for water before getting my sandwich as I had finished my (delicious) passion fruit shake due to the prolonged wait. It never arrived.
