Black Bean Deli is hands down my favorite quick-service restaurant in Orlando. Anytime we're anywhere nearby, it's basically a requirement that we stop. Everything tastes incredibly fresh, and somehow it's always just as good as the last time. The rice bowls are my go-to, especially with the sweet plantains and their green sauce ‍ genuinely one of the best sauces I've ever had. I would put it on just about anything. Honestly, I can't think of a single thing I wouldn't recommend. Empanadas? Amazing. Cuban sandwiches? Amazing. Desserts? Amazing. The coffee is probably a 4/5 for me, but that's only because I'm personally not a huge fan of darker Cuban-style coffee, it was still really good though! The atmosphere is always spotless and has such fun Cuban/Miami vibes. It's casual, welcoming, and just a great place to grab lunch. The only downside is that parking can be a little stressful depending on when you go, but it's absolutely worth it every single time. If you haven't been yet, do yourself a favor and go. read more

Holy moley! This was my first time at Black Bean Deli and it definitely won't be my last. I wasn't super hungry, so I just ordered a guava pastry... and WOW. It was so good I honestly could've eaten 10 of them. I also had to try the yucca fries because I LOVE yucca fries, and these had to be some of the best I've ever had. It had been a minute since I'd popped into a Black Bean Deli. I'm so glad we stopped by! I brought my mom here and she was so excited that they still had the cuban special (it was her favorite thing to order way back in the day when she worked down the street). I ordered the Havana Pork bowl. This place is fast casual so you order at the counter and then find a seat. The food took a little time but the ordering process went quick for going during peak lunch hours. The food was so good. Amazing maduros and the havana pork was very flavorful. My mom said the cuban was just as good as when she used to order it often. This is one of my new favorite spots! I absolutely loved it! Entering the building you couldn't even tell how big it was! It was so pretty inside. Very simple but great vibe overall. The staff was so kind and helpful even offering suggestions and brought our food and coffee right to the table. They even cleared our table when that wasn't something they had to do. They offer complimentary water that you can get yourself at any time. Happy with my visit to black bean deli. Being Hispanic from South Florida, where there's a multitude of Latin American options at every corner, when I travel to other states or cities, I often have a Latin American craving. On my visit to Orlando. I decided that I wanted some Cuban food and black bean deli came to my rescue. Black bean deli is a fast casual establishment where you order at the counter and receive a number for your table. The servers then bring out your meal to you. They have a lot of of main Cuban dishes, HOWEVER THEY DONT HAVE VACA FRITA. Vaca Frita is my main go to Cuban dish that I crave and I was disappointed that they did not have it. I'm not a huge fan of pork so I didn't want to try any of their pork dishes. But I did get a Cuban sandwich (yes I know it has some pork in it) and it was pretty good and a great size. My American boyfriend enjoys burgers, and to our pleasant surprise they had a Cuban influenced Berger that he tried. We also got a side of Yucca fries and were pleasantly surprised at the portion for six dollars. At some more high scale restaurants when ordering a side of yucca, the portion is very small so we were impressed. This location also has a decent small parking lot. The other location also nearby in Orlando about 15 minutes away from this one, has a much more tighter parking area with only a few spaces. Black Bean Deli never disappoints. No matter what location I go to, or if I dine in or carry out, they consistently deliver delicious food at an amazing price. I usually alternate between the salad with tuna and a picadillo empanada or the garbanzo bean soup with no rice and the yuca fries. This visit was the latter. A very nice restaurant in Winter Park. According to their website, they want to "... modernize and responsibly curate classic Cuban café culture (including ventanitas, café con leche, and family recipes) in contemporary settings so these traditions can endure for future generations." This restaurant actually does a good job of doing just that. It is located just to the east of the Orange and S Orlando Ave in a very nicely refurbished older building. The parking is located on 2 sides of the building. You enter straight into the counter where you can order from their menu which is classic Cuban food. You order and pay at the counter. The appetizers (ham croquettes and papa rellanas, etc) were in a place by the counter and so we got those as we left the counter. Very smart in my opinion. They have several seating options to include a window bar to your right from the counter, some outside seating on a patio and a large inside area with benches with tables. The drinks and food came out quickly and were delivered to our table. We got 1/2 Cubans with Black beans and rice. They were very good as were the appetizers. The prices were very reasonable for the quality of food and amount. The staff was pleasant and the restaurant was very clean and bright. Black bean deli--both locations--have always been very solid choices for me, for years. My most recent visit to the Orange Ave location was no different. We ordered at the counter and the wait was quick. Our food took a little longer, but we did come during prime lunch hour. There was plenty of seating. The food was delicious and consistent as always--my medianoche was delightful and my friend enjoyed her meal, a bowl, as well. I appreciate that they carry Diet Coke cans, which is a preference for me as a Diet Coke snob! This was my first time going to this location and I was pleasantly surprised that they had so much seating available, I'm use to going to the 50 location and it's tiny compared to this. When we entered we placed our order at the counter and were served our food. We ordered a cafe con leche and a guava pastelito to start and both were very good. The coffee was your average cafe con leche and the guava pastelito had the perfect amount of cheese with guava and was very light. The grilled cheese Cubano was toasted perfectly and had a good amount of cheese. The croqueta sandwich had great flavor and was a little dry but I still enjoyed it. Stopped by the black bean deli for a quick lunch and I really enjoyed this spot. You order at the counter and then are given a number and your food is brought out to your table. I ordered the Havana pork bowl, my boyfriend order the Cuban sandwich, and a side of Maduros. We thankfully just beat the lunch rush when we arrived and our food came out rather quickly. The Havana bowl was huge and I ate about most of it minus the tomato's. The Cuban sandwich was huge and delicious. The Maduro side was a tower of plantains which was a nice surprise but not what I was expecting at all. We had to pack that up and bring it home. I've been wanting to find a good Cuban bakery somewhere in Orlando. Although this isn't a full throttle Cuban bakery... they do have the usual Cuban pastries here (empanadas, croquetas, etc.), and they are very decently priced and really good here! Any Cuban place that has a delicious green cilantro sauce has a place in my heart, but the fact that they also add avocado into their sauce here is amazing! My boyfriend and I came here for a quick dinner one night, and we weren't disappointed. The staff were very kind even though it was nearing closing time and were somewhat busy. We had some empanadas and croquetas as an appetizer then had the entrees that are pictured here. This is probably the best Cuban food that is in the Winter Park area. My only "complaint" is that my pork in the Havana Pork bowl was a tad bit dry (it's ok though because the magic green sauce fixes everything). It was the end of the day so maybe that's why? Baked chicken had good flavor on the skin, a little on the dry side, but the green sauce balanced it out. Havana pork had great flavor and was even better with that same sauce. Both plates came with salad and plantains which were cooked to an excellent caramelization. I'm slightly obsessed with BBD. I've been coming for years since their original location and I even frequented the colonial location when it opened but for some reason I am now in my BBD era. It's a healthy option that has lots of flavor and is fairly easy/fast to get. My fav is getting the baked chicken platter with white rice (the yellow rice has dyes in it), sweet plantains & add fried yuca. I opt out of the black beans and salad. My son loves that they have Natalie's lemonade and Martinelli's apple juice available, since we don't drink soda. I love their sweet tea and think it's one of the best in town. The garlic aioli sauce that comes with the meal is to die for. I always end up paying for another side of it. This place is great for meeting a friend, taking your kids or family out to eat, big groups, and fast meals. I often order to go. The interior is really nice and the staff are just lovely. We ordered a white-meat chicken salad, chicken soup, plantains and a rice bowl. The food was fine. It definitely wasn't as good as I remember it being. The chicken in my salad was a little dry and the rice in the bowl tasted like it had been sitting out for a few hours. It was also really expensive. By the time we tipped, it was $54, which I feel is expensive for a QSR with smaller portions. They were very nice, though. I'm on crutches and they held the door for me on my way out. Used to be good, not anymore. Worst Cuban sandwich ever. I would take a Publix or 7/11 Cuban sandwich over this any day. It's a ham sandwich with a paper thin slice of processed pork. All you taste is ham and mustard. They don't even make them on location; they are pre-made at another facility and shipped to the restaurants to heat and serve. The black beans container was half white rice and half dried up bean soup; it did not taste terrible. Our buddy John tipped Chas and I off to a spot near Orlando that had a killer Cuban sandwich so right away my interest was peaked. We were staying near Orlando at the time so we hopped into the car and drove to Winter Park to check out Black Bean Deli. We got some various appetizer type things as well but the points of focus here are the Media Noche, The Cuban, and the Pan Con Bistec. It would be foolish of me to not also mention that anytime we hit an establishment like this if they offer a Cafe con Leche ... we get it. The woman at the counter was very nice and helpful and the business had plenty of tables/was well lit and clean. Started off by trying the Media Noche. I enjoyed this very much but I did miss the pickles on it (they were available by request but we wanted to get an idea for it with/without) and although I loved this bread, I do think I prefer the bread the Cuban comes on. This was like a sandwich on a sweet piece of cornbread almost. Again that is not to say I didn't highly enjoy it...I'm just partial to the bread of the Cuban. Tried out Chas' Pan con Bistec next. This was steak with sautéed onion, crispy fried potatoes, and a smooth salsa like sauce on the same bread the Cuban comes on. I was nervous the steak would have a lot of bite and be hard to chew but that couldn't be further from the truth. Absolutely a sandwich you should try, especially if you aren't big on the things that come on a Cuban. The Cuban is exactly what I had hoped it would be and was craving. The pork was delicious and juicy, the ham had a great flavor and texture, the bread was the exact flavor I wanted, and the pickles/mustard/swiss all rounded out and complimented the other flavors of the sandwich. A properly built Cuban is honestly one of my favorite styles of sandwich by far. The Cafe con Leche was delicious! I absolutely loved this place. I specifically am obsessed with how they get the chicken to be so tender and delicious. It literally shreds at the touch and is the perfect meat for a rice bowl. I love love loved the yuca fries also. I always switch the plantains in the bowl for yuca fries and it's such a good move. I loved the collective taste of the bowl but also the presentation. We've had a lot of weirdly cold, rainy days lately, and Black Bean is the perfect place to go get cozy. The chicken soup is EVERYTHING. I came here at noon on a Sunday. When I say everything was absolutely perfect, I mean perfect! The staff were all nice. The service was fast. It wasn't too busy. (Though the line got super long at around 12:30, so come early!) We sat at the window seats watching the cold rain while warming out bones with hot soup, filling our bellies with maduros, feeling cozy the velvety cafe con leche, and washing it all down with a refreshing guava mimosa! Well, I finally stopped by this restaurant today. I was in the area and finally pulled the trigger. It's a clean restaurant with modern decor and full of hip young people working on their shiny new Macbook laptops, LOL. So, my plan was to get a Cuban sandwich, black beans and yuca fries. I arrived at 10:35am and was told that all of the three things I wanted were not available until 11:00am. Yes, 25 minutes made that big of a difference. I asked the guy on the counter about the 6"Cuban and black beans combo and he said: " We don't have that anymore". So...if it is not available, why is it in the "everyday menu" online??? He noticed the disappointment in my face, so they agreed to make me a Cuban sandwich. I also had a ham croqueta and an orange juice. The Cuban sandwich was okay. I think it needed more ham...but it was not bad. The best part was the bread. The croqueta was okay as well. Will I ever go back?
