Was in town for a weekend and knew I had to come try this amazing shop out (reminded me a lot of my local barbershop at home.) Got into the shop and immediately loved the vibe - lots of colors, NES available for play on the bar, free drink, dog friendly. Got an appointment with Collette (who I found was recently rated as one of the top barbers in Chicago!) - She absolutely crushed it in every regard, clean fade, asked the right questions, told me what I could do to help the cut go smoothly as well (which I think is a critical step.) This shop caught my eye in insta a while back (when I still had it, and boy do I recommend deactivating that $#!+ ). Was visiting Chicago and knew I had to carve out getting a haircut here. Was nervous asking for a flat top, in part because of boldness of the cut, but also because my hair is on the fine side and I was worried it maybe wouldn't work. It's been a bucket list haircut though. Dan assessed my hair before and assured me it would work, and he delivered!!! I was glowing when I left. I feel so studly and badass. Dan was really patient, took his time, and was great about taking the top down a bit shorter when I asked (which is no quick easy task for a flat top). He even texted around for shops recs so I can keep up this look in LA. Just a really nice guy. The shop is also super clean and beautiful. This haircut was the last thing I did before leaving Chicago and was truly the cherry on top of an amazing weekend there. Would absolutely get another cut here next time I'm in town! read more

I am writing this for my husband as we sit here waiting for Greg at his new establishment, The Old Dog Barbershop. We followed Greg from his las place after originally finding him from a zillion positive reviews on yelp (see, it works). The reason Greg has a loyal following is because he is not just "stylist" or hair cutter, he is a master at his craft. He takes a limited amount of "finely" textured, silver-grey hair and never fails to maximize the potential with a precision, thoughtful cut. My husband is a very, VERY young 70 and it is important to continue to look professional and polished. Greg is a top notch barber! I needed a haircut before my sister's wedding and I decided I would give Greg an opportunity as my first haircut in Chicago. I have naturally straight growing hair so I only get flat tops (usually a tougher haircut for barbers). Greg says he loves the challenge if flat tops and might I add he free hands it. Taylor has been cutting my hair and trimming my beard for about 5 years. From my wedding, big life events, and all these random family photoshoots my wife books, I've entrusted him to make me look my best.
