Chill atmosphere,great service,simple menu that isn't trying to be something it's not but instead a well thought out and carefully executed real foodie friendly choices that set the standard far above most all of the other bar/grill/pub food in town. Hell of a great Bar, who's bartenders knows how to make a true Cuba Libra ! And the food ain't bad either. But it was the banter and camaraderie that brought us here; and to share a cold one. Walter Sullivan has been coming to this fine establishment since June, 1978 as an Associate Planner in the Carson City's Planning Department. Mainly after Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors meetings but other meetings as well. I worked for Carson City from February 6, 1978 to June 30, 2009 from Associate Planner to Director of Planning and Community Development and then my last two years as Director of Development Services: Development Services consisted of the following Departments: Planning/ Community Development, Development Engineering, Building & Safety, Business Licensing, Historical Architectural Resources Commission/ Planning Commission, Airport Authority; to name a few. All had great people working within them. I attended well over a 1, 100 meetings after 5pm during my tenure with the City. Most good meetings , some not so interesting. But I had the DA's to blame for those meetings. read more

We just had the best cheeseburger in Carson City--perfectly cooked, hot, tender and juicy but with a crispy exterior and a pillow soft bun. Spousal unit had pepper jack cheese and bacon on his and was equally happy. We both had fries, also perfectly cooked, but could've had onion rings or tots. Cheeseburgers are my absolute favorite meal, so I've had a few. This one might just be the best ever. Another diner had what she described as a BLT with a fried egg on it and was praising it, too. This cook knows his way around a grill! The upcoming Friday's special is fish & chips and clam chowder, and I'm hoping we can sample THAT treat, too! read more

Food is great! Charlie runs the kitchen and the best burgers I've had . Also specials on the weekends so you have options. Food is cash only but there is an ATM on site. The service is awesome, Hector the owner/ bartender is great and makes this establishment work. Prices on drinks is very reasonable and the vibe here is perfect for those who want to relax and eat without high prices and overbearing music. Oldest continuously operating bar in Carson City. Old school bar that I remember hitting when I turned 21 back in the day. Not really into drinking like I was back then but I hit the way back machine when I stopped in recently after a 30-year hiatus. Enjoyed the laid back atmosphere and the all-around goodness of a good old-fashioned Nevada bar. Good stuff. read more

Cool old school bar in the heart of downtown carson city, with old men chillin on the stools watchin' tv, just like cheers or somethin'. Been around in one form or another for like over a 100 years- cool old school sign out front and the staples- wood paneling, carpet, old framed pics on the walls, etc. One bummer was no taxidermy at all- not even a jackalope! WTF?! Also the jukebox was a suck ass internet one. Plus was the electric dartboard, that was cool. The men's room had no funny graffiti nor a condom or "adult novelty" machine- points off for that. At least they din't totally reek of pee, like the last place we went to... We just had a couple beers and hung out- just to chill for a min and escape the cold snow outside. Then burned rubber. Okay, lets get this straight right now. This is a bar, what I call a real bar. It's old, it smells like a bar, it looks like a bar. It is full of character and is full of characters. I'm from out of town, so I stop in for a beer because someone suggested it while I was sitting in a non bar, with no character. So I wonder down there. First thing, Carlos, the bar tender greets me like I'm his long lost cousin. All of the characters are very nice. That was 8 months ago. I've been back in Carson City 5 times since for a week or so at a time and this the place I go. The beer is cold and standard price. If they have food, I haven't seen. Back door goes into an alley that has a door to a casino. Handy for place sports bets. One complaint, most of the seats at the bar have a video poker machine at them. Pain in the butt. So if you are some dick from California stay away, this is a real bar, not for you. Go to the Blue Bull down the street. If you like a real bar, this is your place. read more

I had never been to this bar, but my husband had. Thought that Id like it. Small bar with a few tables & plenty of seats at the bar. Older bartender, very quiet and not very socialable. We sat at the bar & ordered 2 beers. Just a few others were there, had some sports on TV , music playing & some great wall art . All kinds of decorations to catch your eye.
