We stopped in here on a Friday a little after noon. It was fairly busy, which is a good sign. The lady behind the counter was very patient with us as we fumbled through our order. They have a lot of different options and combinations of soups, sandwiches, and sizes of both. I got the Reuben and vegetable beef soup. Both were really good. The rye bread was flavorful but not overpowering and I felt there was a good amount of meat on the sandwich but could have used more sauerkraut. My wife got the turkey pesto sandwich and tomato basil soup. Both were also very good, but my wife did have to open the sandwich up looking for the pesto spread since there wasn't much on it. read more

Old Grist Mill is one of my favorite places! I can't believe I haven't reviewed it yet. Somehow my kids always end up having activities in this specific part of Kaysville and I don't mind driving them because it means I can get a super soft and fresh sandwich and amazing soup. I like everything I've had. The bread is always soft and fresh. The hot sandwiches are satisfying. And today I went for breakfast for the first time. I got a ham croissant. The croissant wasn't dry at all like it often is other places. It's was perfectly flakey. And the ham was so juicy and flavorful. The egg was also well cooked and tastey, not dry like it is some places. I wish we had one closer! The staff are always friendly. I've met the owner/manager before (I forget who exactly it was) and they were working alongside everyone else, helping out and making sure things run smoothly. It seems like it would be a good place to work. I also like to sit and read (or sometimes scroll on my phone) as a break in my day. Pulling up and parking in the 80s era strip mall actually built up my hopes that this little restaurant might be awesome. Without the expensive overhead of the latest plaza expansion might I find the food and service above average? The answer is most certainly yes. The restaurant was clean and modestly appointed with music volume perfect for enjoying our meal. We ordered the Reuben and tomato soup. Both were tasty. I will say that I don't think the Reuben sauce was original. I think the corn beef was bought at a deli but the combination of tasty bread, sauce, kraut and meat were all perfect. The tomato soup was a expected. Overall the price point made this restaurant without fault in my eyes. No regrets. read more

I had ordered a turkey sandwich with all the fixings. I had a thin sliver of cheese and turkey placed on the bread. A pinch of sprouts. I had the Reuben and the soup of the day, which was some sort of tomato soup. The Reuben was very flavorful and delicious. I love grilled sandwiches! Great pastrami. The tomato soup was awesome too, you could tell from the taste of the tomato that it's fresh. My wife made her own custom sandwich with chicken salad on it, and that was awesome. The chicken salad was delicious. For me, the highlight was the cinnamon roll I got as dessert. It had the perfect doughy flavor to it. It was packed with cinnamon and icing. It was perfect! My wife got a fudge brownie. It was fine. Taking off a star because they forgot our brownie and chips until we went back up to remind them. I have driven past this area a million times and never noticed this place. I finally found it because of high ratings. It is surprisingly big inside from what it looks like outside. I have been here multiple times and love it. I usually get a chicken salad sandwich on wheat bread with a side of soup. The sandwiches taste like one you would make at home. They are yummy but not necessarily amazing. The owner is super sweet whenever I have come in. The sugar cookies are great and the soups. Went inside to order and take out. Sign on the door stated that staff not wearing masks were fully vaccinated. Most staff were still wearing masks though. Best honey whole wheat bread ever!!! We like great harvest and Kneaders is ok, but Old Grist Mill knows how to make bread. OGM's honey wheat bread and pumpkin chocolate chip bread are excellent and bury the competition in taste, texture and freshness. My teens love their sandwiches and baked treats. When we lived in WA they would talk about OGM brownies. Now we have moved back we have visited several times. I love being able to buy soup and bread for a quick meal to go or to take to a neighbor. Called this morning to see if they could fit 14 of us in for lunch with only a couple of hours notice. The women answering the phone was so polite and friendly. She assured me it was not a problem. When we arrived at 1:00, the tables were pulled together for us and ready to go. We all got up to order and my food was ready before I had even filled my drink cup. All of us were happy with our meals and especially the service. My friend that got the French Dip loved it. I attended their "soft opening". So I'll refrain from being overly-critical; and instead aim for a constructive review; with hopes that things will improve once they're officially open! The space itself, is airy & clean. There's plenty of seating. When you first walk-in, you have to wait in line, & there's a little table with paper forms that they want you to use to write down your order. I'm sure it's designed this way, to reduce errors on people's orders. But the day I was there it was proving to be a "cluster". It seems like it would cut down on wait time, & be more of a streamlined process, to have people order verbally, at the cash register. Also, all of the individual bakery delights were in a glass case that you passed AFTER you ordered. Had they been in the pastry case that is before the register; I would have gone bananas ordering sweet treats! But since I didn't see my options until after the fact... I passed. There was no way I wanted to wait in line again! There were problems when it came to delivering orders to patrons. The employees were calling out names, to let customers know their specific order was ready. But it was a mess! The restaurant was too noisy. A better method would be to give people numbers to display on their table, & when the order was ready, the employees could deliver the tray of food to the table with the corresponding number. Just a thought. Finally, I have no idea what their policy is, when it comes to bussing tables??? I didn't see the employees clearing tables. But there weren't any garbage cans available either, so that patrons could clean up after themselves. In the end, I found a tiny wastebasket tucked away in a corner, & that was where I deposited my trash. As for the food? Yum. It was amazing. Definitely worth going back for! The creamy tomato basil soup tasted like it was done from scratch. The turkey bacon pesto panini I had was also wonderful. It was made to order, & arrived deliciously hot! The pesto sauce was fresh. My oatmeal raisin cookie was a perfect way for me to finish off lunch. The food itself, is five-star worthy. I'm hoping they iron out all of the kinks in the ordering department, by the time I go back, so that I can give them a stellar follow-up review! read more

I have visited the Old Grist Mill in Logan and Brigham city and this location blew my mind. They had quite a lot of options for food, everything sounded really good. It was hard to decide what to get but the employees were super helpful with recommendations. They even let me sample the soups. Their hours were a little strange, but I am guessing they are still working that out since opening in October. The manager was especially nice. If you are tired of bland sandwiches from every sub chain in UT, go give Old Grist Mill a try. You won't be disappointed! read more

It's not a quiet lunch spot and their ordering system could use some tweaking. All the delicious baked goods are in the case just past the cash registers.
