Such a fun bar in Old Town! There's plenty of seating as it's three stories and the drinks were great. I remember the service being fast too. I recommend stopping by if you're in the area. I'm very new to the bar scene in Old Town Alexandria but I am glad I found this place. I will be stopping by again.

Where do I even start. We're back home & we truly miss this place because of Jack the owner & the friends we made because of him. We even met his family! The minute you walk into the main floor smaller quaint bar area, you're greeted with a warm genuine smile from Jack letting you know to seat wherever you'd like or continue up to the other 2 floors. Which are very roomy. Jack makes you feel at home & even introduced us to "his friends." He makes each drink as well as his staff. He has a passion & attention to detail to each cocktail. He made a wonderful old fashion and we tried a couple of his own concoctions. We also got to try the food. We chose apps, pierogis & dumplings. So delicious. There are also a lot of Korean influenced food items and couple traditional American items. Everything was fresh and delicious. We loved it here so much we came back 2 more times! Location is fantastic. Close enough to main section of restaurants but off on its own. It's truly a welcoming place. No TVs here. Jack wants people to make friends and we were honored to make the friends we did. We hope to keep in touch. Thanks Jack & company! Stay well & Hope to see you again!

Old Hat Bar is one of my favorite old town Alexandria spots. Great drink and Korean fusion pub food options at approachable prices. Our group loved the kimchi hotdog, bibimbap, and a must have would be the fried cheese curds! Ambiance is dc dive bar. They don't take reservations but we usually are able to find a table.

Biscuits and gravy was outstanding! Savory with a kick!

So, Old Hat Bar opened for brunch today for the first time. I haven't been so satisfied with breakfast food in a long time. Old Hat brought its usual charm, great drinks and wonderful vibes to the brunch arena! Everyone enjoyed themselves, and the food was a pleasant surprise. The quality of the new menu items were comparable to their regular menu, which I find to be amazing as well. Service was timely and the contagious positive energy was exactly what I needed after a long work week. If you're ever in the neighborhood, the experience will be worth it.

Old Hat has some great vibes, food and drinks. I love that their cocktail menu changes and that they have really unique twists that you wouldn't find elsewhere. In terms of food, I loved the Kim-chi hot dog, but if you don't like spicy food think twice! It gets busy so I'd recommend coming a bit on the earlier side to grab a seat or booth. I'm definitely going to be back and can't wait to try some more fun drinks!

Very nice restaurant/bar. This business has a limited food menu but what they make is quite good and very tasty. For our first trip here we had the Fried Pork dumplings, Arugula Goat cheese toast, Gyro and the Crab Rangoon. All three dishes were very well made and oh so tasty with the Fried pork Dumplings being my favorite of the three. This business also has a specialty cocktail menu where we ordered the Bourbon old Fashion and the Five Points Cocktails. The Five Points was OK but unfortunately the Bourbon Old Fashion was not up to par in my opinion where it comes across as a straight Bourbon on the rocks and was lacking any sweetness where I questioned if any sugar/simple syrup/maple syrup was used in the drink. Also as a pet peeve the drink was missing the signature cocktail cherry that is an integral part of this drink in my opinion and adds the extra texture/complexity/taste that a better made old fashion would have. Relative to the environment/service, it has a dark casual environment with comfortable seating over three floors and is really a great place to hang out with friends for a bite to eat or just drinks. Service was super friendly with great follow up and is definitely a strength of this business. Overall I was very pleased with our first visit here and would have given five stars overall had it not been for the sub par Old fashion. Having said that if you are in the area, you should definitely check this business out as the high reviews in YELP are definitely warranted. Also as a tip they have a Happy Hour menu comprised of some of their drinks and food on Mon to Fri from 5 -7 PM that you should take advantage of.

One of my favorite spots in old town. Honestly my only complaints are that it's always busy and that the drinks are so strong I can usually only handle one, and if those are considered complaints then this place is great. It's such a weird, funky place. I seriously notice a new, weird detail each time I go there - like the pencil machine on the third floor. Service can be slow, but again that's due to the place being busy and the drinks being complicated. The bartenders make them all to order - nothing premixed here! I've never eaten here so I can't speak to the food, but the cocktail menu is one of the most innovative I've seen and I'm excited each time they update it.

The restaurant has a nice vibe and décor, but has too may steps for me, not good if you plan on getting lit. Our server was amazing, she was very knowledgeable and professional. Food wise: The cornbread was good, it came out pipping hot, with butter melting. The pork belly was my favorite.... Omg the Pork Belly was the star of the show---it was so sticky and sweet, the eggs and potatoes were pretty good, nothing extortionary. I was a bit skeptical about the eggs being from a carton, since I didn't see any white in the eggs. The chicken was so greasy and slightly soggy on the bottom. I don't think I'd order that again, the waffles were pretty good. I feel like the chicken and waffles are just great for show, in my opinion that dish didn't really deliver what I thought it would. I would return again, the chicken did not discourage me. It could've just been a bad day. I would recommend giving this place a try.

The chicken sandwich was the best thing out of the items that I ordered. The hush puppies were a little on the overcooked side but were a decent size. Had they not been too overcooked, I would have enjoyed them more. The macaroni and cheese was my least favorite. I felt like it was noodles featuring some cheese sauce topped with a crispy bread crumb. The macaroni and cheese could have used a little bit of salt and pepper to season it up a bit.

Haven't been to Chadwicks in a while, so it was nice to convene for a recent brunch to catch up with some friends. While there is limited outdoor seating, I prefer the upstairs since it's typically quieter, and the abundant windows naturally illuminate the space. The interior is also characterized by nautically themed decor, along with exposed brick walls and hardwood flooring. TBH, this is one of the better Brunch spots in Old Town. There brunch menu is extensive - https://static1.squarespace.com/static/68d065ce6d80726524c2bca9/t/6a3d8efe5e4fbd1439f0bc1a/1782419198238/Brunch.pdf - and has all of traditional breakfast offerings of pancakes, french toast, a variety of eggs, sausage/bacon/ham, etc. While there are also lunch type savory options such as sandwiches and chicken and pasta entrees, I opted for the classic biscuits and gravy. I don't normally eat this type of heavy carb heavy dish...but every now and then, it's not so bad. The plate arrived with two buttermilk biscuits, country bacon gravy, two sunny side up two eggs, and home fries. The gravy was nice and thick with pieces of sausage bits, but I found the biscuits on the dry side, rather than buttery and flaky. Eggs were prepared properly and had that satisfying "ooze" when the yolks were popped. Home fries tasted previously frozen and could've used a few more minutes in the fryer. Service was a bit slow as there was only one staff taking orders and delivering food. But he was friendly and would circle back around to check on our group frequently. Pair your meal with a few choices of cocktails (I ordered a $5 mimosa) and Chadwicks brunc h is a great way to spend a few hours on a Sunday afternoon. Be sure to inform your server ahead of time, if separate checks are desired. One brunch entree, one mimosa with tax and tip totalled to about $25.

I'll have various # of reviews per year. I moved to Alexandria from Arizona on Saturday, October 15, 2011. As a 27 year old at the time and being new to town, I wanted to check out the bar scene in various places like DC, Clarendon, other areas of Arlington, & the city I lived in Alexandria, more specifically Old Town. My scrapbook series of reviews will likely go into 2027 (but I'll get some done from 8/31 to whenever things get bad for me) as I may not be getting much if any Yelp reviews done in October-November time range due to high dose chemo with stem cell replacement. You never imagine what life throws your way. Sure, I had various issues when I was kid, teen, & in 20's, but pails in comparison to 40's for me. In the 20's, job situation was unstable, dating/women drama, etc. But you never imagine that at 15 year anniversary of being in DC area having to do high dose chemo. My experience at Murphy's in October 2011 & beyond: When I lived in Alexandria, this was my #1 favorite & go to bar. I liked a good Irish pub over some club or some generic bar, although I enjoyed some of those to in my 20's. Murphy's staff was cordial here, and beer was good. They had some music at times and could be crowded on a weekend. My 1st weekend in the DC area was October 15-16, 2011, I was busy with moving & settling in and starting job on that Monday. Following weekend I explored DC amongst other fun things. On the 3rd weekend, Friday, October 28, 2011, I explored the Old Town Alexandria bar scene and stumbled across Murphy's Irish Pub. It was also Halloween weekend and there were some people in costumes. I got a chick's phone #. Her name was Adele, like the singer. Tried to get a date with her but never panned out as she claimed to be busy with whatever else. I went to Murphy's a few other times and always enjoyed. I included pic of the October 2011 receipt from my scrapbook. I'm going to take a pic of each thing from scrapbook as that'll take more time, but I had to include the first thing at the very least.
