Feel the sensation of dirt/grime on your feet. Some floors may have cigarette burns, gum, and much more for your feet to enjoy. Are you a fan of art? Then gaze upon the walls and ceiling with decade old paint full of multi-color artwork ranging from brown water stains, dirt, food stains, and other random designs. Life stressing you out? They got you covered. Here at East Village Inn, your room will come with broken Wifi, and 24-hour built-in aroma therapy. Rather you are laying on your bed, relaxing in a chair or soaking in the tub; close your eyes or enjoy the art work and breath in the exciting smells ranging from Back Alley Piss, Mighty Mildew, Musty Misery, Funky Feet, Classic Cigarette, and even some mystery scents. Most days you may experience multiple aromas at once and swear you died and went to Hell... I mean paradise. Feeling lonely? Not a problem as all rooms (including the Remodeled) have pets called Roaches that come in two types/colors and will keep you company in the main room and bathroom. If you're really lucky, you may have the honor of the more adorable exotic pets known as Cimex lectularius that absolutely loves to snuggle. Pets not enough? I could have gone to Costco and bought some frozen dogs and potato chips and grilled them on a park grill for 1/4 the price. Our picnic was completely ruined by this company. Before I checked in and upon arrival, the front desk asked if we were there for the pool. When I said yes, I was told the pool was closed until further notice and was advised to check nearby hotels instead. I was never notified in advance, despite the closure clearly being known. Because the pool was the primary reason for the stay, I asked whether any accommodation could be made, such as points or a reduction of the pet fee. This request was denied, and the interaction with staff was rude and dismissive, with no effort made to offer customer service or a resolution. In addition, I booked a suite, and while the room itself was nice and spacious, the cleanliness was disappointing. The blinds were extremely dirty with visible stains, and the walls had crust and what appeared to be dried boogers. This is unacceptable for a newer hotel. It is also concerning that the pool was already out of service so early into the hotel's life. Overall, this stay fell far short of expectations.

They also offer complimentary washers and dryers though detergent is not provided although they have that for purchase. There were a few hiccups during my stay. On the first morning I requested a light bulb for a lamp that didn't have one. After waiting an hour with no delivery I left for the day. When I returned that evening I found a bulb in my room but it was the wrong type, it had metal prongs instead of the required twist base. I had to call again before receiving the correct one. On the third night of my four night stay my door suddenly became difficult to lock. It took several attempts and breaks to finally get it secured which was concerning because I hadn't experienced any issues with it the first two nights. The hotel has a lot to offer but some attention to detail and maintenance would go a long way in improving the guest experience.

The inside has a cozy lobby and guest lounge area. It's really a no frills basic hotel, for those who want a solid notch higher than the Motel 6, Red Roof Inn, and Best Western tier. The rooms are comfortable and feel a decent amount nicer than a motel's room. The bed's mattress was one notch better than uncomfortable, so tolerable, yes! Premium comfort? Nah. One nice thing is that TVs were equipped with DVD players, so you can bring a movie! Bathroom and general floor space of the room was spacious, clean and tidy. Also, a feature I have often appreciated at Homesteads and Extended Stays is the included kitchen with a big fridge, sink, microwave, and stove. Honestly, the kitchenette looks like the kitchen at a basic apartment. All in all, if you're traveling and want to feel like you're somewhere special, romantic, trendy, or modern - this may not be your place. However, if you are the frugal traveler that wants a place to set up camp that plays the functions of home living with the kitchen offering, then this would be a good place for you. People that only eat out or rely on room service would find the kitchenette useless. Therefore, places like this appeal to many business trips where folks stay for several nights in a row. We stayed in a deluxe suite for 5 days/4 nights. Price was reasonable at $78 a night. I'm surprised at some of the bad reviews here. The room was very clean, there was no dirty smoke smell and yes, towels are provided! Our room had a comfy king-sized bed, clean bathroom, large closet, sleeper sofa, desk, flat-screen TV, and a kitchen with a full-size refrigerator/freezer, 2-burner stovetop, coffee maker, microwave and a countertop with bar stools where you can eat. We had our 7-month-old along with us so the kitchen worked out real well for us. They also had free wifi. A previous reviewer said it was "slow as dirt" but I thought it was actually somewhat fast, both during the daytime and in the evenings when everyone was there. And we didn't pay for the upgrade. The staff were polite, professional and not pushy like some other hotels can be. The hotel is located in a very nice Detroit suburb with lots of restaurants nearby. Right next door is a BD's Mongolian Barbeque where you can get 20% off your food bill when you show your hotel card. Also from 6-9am there is a "grab-n-go breakfast" in the lobby with free coffee, granola bars and muffins. Nothing too special but hey, it's free! The only negatives were: - Upon arrival we were greeted with a sign that said there would be no water in the building from 8am-2pm because they were working on something. Kind of inconvenient, but luckily the water came back on around 12 noon. - The exhaust fan in the bathroom didn't work. Holy humidity! - Our TV remote was broken, but we called the front desk to get a replacement and they brought up another one within 5 minutes. - The AC/heater unit is rather loud when it kicks on and is drafty. Some bathrooms were shared. which wasn't a big deal since it was all women for the weekend. All rooms are immaculately clean. The cropping room was very spacious and well lit with ODT lighting. Each person had their own 6 foot table with comfortable work chairs. The room was equipped with several machines, such as the Cricut, computer with printer, and Sizzix machines with dies. The hostess supplied a constant supply of beverages and snacks for the weekend. The meals that were provided were top notch considering any meal that I don't have to cook is gourmet to me!! Five meals, appetizers, and desserts are served. There is even a store within the house that carries the necessary supplies that may be needed if you should run short. I can't begin to tell you how nice this weekend was for me. The only drawback is that Maria has sold this to another hostess since she will be moving. I wish that I had found her sooner so I could have had the pleasure of her hospitality more often. I will return under the new owner and know I will receive the same warmth and attention that was given to me.

I prepaid (don't do it) for 18 holes and after 9 they told us we had to leave because they made a mistake and now had leagues. no refund and blamed me because when I called Pine Knob Golf Course Pro Shop, Golf now booked my tee time. Mike helped me understand (very rudly) that I may have been speaking with golf now and should have asked for the pro shop. I called the pro shop. I am extremely surprised I now have to get my attorney involved to get my money back for nine holes that they wouldn't let me play due to their mistake. then being rude about it. already a sad day and now we were robbed by a golf course.
