I stayed in the king suite which was a very clean, spacious and comfortable room. I loved that they…read morehad refillable shampoo/conditioner/bodywash instead of the little single use bottles. The shower was the highlight of the room. spacious, large head with high pressure and a modern design with glass and white tile. I payed the $5 for the upgraded internet and it was well worth it for the lightning-fast speeds. I tried out the pool and waded waist deep, but it was small, cold and nothing special. I really wished they had a hot tub. It was nice to have the little shop downstairs to get water during the evening. They also have a nice selection of snacks and microwavable if you don't want to go anywhere. The only problem was the people above us. Kids running back and forth and slamming into the walls throughout the day and night, making it hard to get a good nights sleep. I really wish they would put large families of kids on the lower floors and put singles and adult couples higher up, so they don't have to be tortured by noise. for $185 a night it was pretty nice.

HVAC unit is quiet and does the job. The only drawback here is the breakfast: food is pretty bad and coffee is just plain awful. Overall a great place to stay and if back in the area, would definitely come back here!

I stayed here during the end of December and early January to attend my mother's funeral. Tim and…read morehis mother were warm and gracious hosts and when I came down with a cold brought me herbal teas and offered to pick up supplies and cold medication at the store- way above & beyond hospitality services I could have found elsewhere! My room was warmly decorated in Lodge style furnishings and clean, plush bedding. There was even a cute Moose rug next to my bed! My room was very clean and cleaning staff were friendly and helpful and brought me towels, kleenex, and extra coffee supplies with a smile. The place is very peaceful and I so enjoyed the tranquil pond views and watching and feeding the ducks and geese. I will recommend this place to everyone I know who travels to this area of Michigan. The LA Cafe restaurant is right next door with great food, baked goods and expresso coffee drinks. Convenient! I saw the previous bad reviews from a few individuals and can only imagine that they are not happy in many areas of their life. This place, the owners, Tim and his Mom, and their excellent staff are peaceful loving service oriented gems in the world of hospitality! All American Good old fashioned service at it's best! I salute you for the wonderful place you have created.

Very nice! Easy parking, welcomed as soon as we entered- old school charm to this place!…read more Whitefish dip for an appetizer and a nice bottle of wine- and priced pretty well. 4 of us for dinner- soup and salads were very good, I enjoyed the seafood bisque. We had a variety of entrees, all done wonderfully and good sized portions. Dessert was cheesecake and a brownie with ice cream, neither was anything special. Service was just ok, she seemed rushed even though it wasn't crowded. Worth a second trip, the menu is extensive.

My first time here and it was quite good!…read more We ordered calamari and it was calamari strips and not calamari rings. It didn't matter to me as I like all calamari but I do wish I knew it was served with green peppers - I get acid reflex from green peppers and the calamari just sitting on them is enough to start acid production. Thankfully I snagged the calamari on the top of the mound and hubby ate the calamari touching the peppers. The dipping sauce was kind of odd and I was not a fan. Hubby got French onion soup and enjoyed and I really liked the salad (forgot the name of it - it had dried cherries and pine nuts among other things). The bread was bread. Hubby could not stop eating it, I picked at a piece...but that is our bread relationship. Hubby got cedar plank fish for dinner and it was seasoned well. Delicious! I opted to just get another appetizer for my dinner - the ahi tuna with seaweed salad. Overall, everything was good and I would come back!

This review is on the hotel ONLY - not the water park. I hadn't stayed here since I was a kid (I'm…read more40!) and I don't think much has changed and that is part of the charm. While everything looks quite dated - it was all VERY clean. I was honestly surprised at how clean our room, especially the bathroom, was. Our room had a mini fridge and microwave - not always standard. Beds were comfy and big fluffy pillows. The vanity is outside the door from the toilet/shower which is nice, but counter is SUPER short - I had to kneel to do my skincare. Carpet seemed clean, as did all the other items in the room. Plenty of towels, too. Honestly, I can't say anything negative. While it is old, it appears well taken care of. I did not interact with any staff, so can't say anything there. Overall, we'd be back!

UPDATE: 6/26 - My child developed DOUBLE pink-eye after visiting this water park!!!…read more To the manager that replied: Yes, I spoke to two different ladies. the first young lady was the one giggling and laughing and asking about beer orders. The second time I called, I ASKED to speak to a manager and was switched over, so of course she didn't hear the laughter or giggling I heard. The trip started off fairly well, until around dinner time! We waited over an hour and 15 minutes for dinner after the automated system said 20-40 minutes. When I did call, I was met with laughter on the other line and was told, "we're understaffed - but are you the room that ordered all the beer?" "Nope. Definitely not. We have kids in tow and we do not drink. Me and my family are STILL waiting for food..." To which she laughed again, said they were understaffed and claimed the young lady hauling food was on the floor and would be "right there". 15 minutes later, I called again and they removed the food from our bill - which I appreciated, but also hated having to ask for - AGAIN. Also, asking me about an 'order' because the staff was already taking too long seemed borderline inappropriate. That being said, my kiddos are both 7, one chose this waterpark as her birthday venue, and everyone had a fun time. (It's a tad frustrating that check-in is so late and in order to get INTO the water park, with the most slides that is, you had to pay extra. So, anyone who pays for just the park gets in earlier technically. Which again, is a tad annoying. You pay more to stay and then pay even more to play. The lazy river, the family raft ride and the outside hot tub were their favorites to play around in a there are a few inside we didn't even check out. The breakfast/dinner/game time coupons and cards were all pretty nifty and we used every single one of them. It is a bit misleading that the place to enjoy dinner is the 'Bavarian Inn Restaurant' and is not attached to the hotel in any way and says it closes at 8:00. We booked it there to arrive in time for a dinner only to see them seating people at 8:55. All of our issues revolved around meals/food, and younger staff members just joking around when you try to ask questions, but overall - my kiddos had a great time and that was the goal.
