After noting this place had such a high overall rating on Yelp, we were really expecting good things - and since we like wine bars in general, we were excited to try Sospiro. Our first visit here was on a Tuesday night. We arrived a bit more than an hour before their posted closing time, but the place appeared to be empty. After waiting in the main bar/dining area for a few minutes with no one greeting us (though I could hear people talking back in what I believe is the kitchen) we decided to leave. We returned a few nights later after having dinner at nearby Flemings, were seated right away, given menus and we each ordered a glass of wine. After our wine was poured, we were basically forgotten about and we kind of felt like outsiders here, because most everyone at the bar and seated at 2 or 3 of the tables all seemed to know each other: The guy who'd been our server sat down at a table and ate/drank with the woman there. The guys seated at the bar grabbed glasses and served wine to women sitting at the other 2 stools, but there didn't seem to be any staff simply checking on the rest of us. The one employee who did later check in on some dining patrons was walking around with his 1/2 finished glass of wine in hand while doing so. Needless to say, our 2 visits here were both a bit odd. Service, at least for us was badly lacking, and compared to another wine bar and a few restaurants we patronize in this general area, the pours we were given here at Sospiro were a bit stingy. A bit overpriced for wine bottles, they all start at $50+ and the one we got was a new zealand sauvy B typically $17-20 via retail. Automatic 18% service charge is applied, despite getting just 1 bottle of wine that was opened and we poured ourselves. They also have cheeseboards and flatbreads available which looked very tasty but we did not try them. Overall, nice date spot or place to catch up with friends. Service was good. read more

My experience at this restaurant was extremely disappointing and honestly upsetting. I made a reservation for Valentine's Day for my partner and I a month in advance, expecting a romantic and respectful experience. We even arrived 20 minutes early for our reservation. Instead, we were sat at the smallest bar seating, which was completely inappropriate and not romantic at all for an occasion like Valentine's Day. As soon as we sat down, I politely asked if we could be moved. The manager then told me that I had booked bar seating, which is simply not true. Why would anyone reserve bar seating a month in advance for Valentine's Day? I checked my reservation confirmation myself and it never stated that, and I even tried making another reservation to verify ..bar seating wasn't even an option. He told us he would "see what he could do," and we were left waiting at the bar with no water, no menus, no service, and no communication whatsoever. Meanwhile, we watched multiple couples get seated at proper tables back-to-back. At one point, we even overheard another couple say their reservation was at the same time as ours, and they were seated at a table immediately. When I tried to politely ask for an update, the manager or owner completely ignored me. No acknowledgment, no apology, nothing. I was honestly in shock at how disrespectful and dismissive they were. We ended up getting up and leaving because of how uncomfortable and disrespected we felt. Valentine's Day is supposed to be special, and this restaurant completely ruined that experience. read more

We were going on a double date and my friends partner is Italian. We found this cute spot on TikTok and decided to check it out. First the actual place is soooo cute such a warm romantic vibe to it. Dim lighting vintage pattern seating! They also had an outdoor but summers in Miami is not it. The waiters are Italian and our invites were able to communicate in their native language which was awesome! They were very sweet and helped in choosing. We ordered the antipasto plate which WOW so big so delicious and beautifully presented. Me and my partner decided to try the wine flight of red blends 10/10 we decided on a glass of Family Montaña because it was a nice palate flavor. For our meal we ordered a pesto pasta and a bolognese. The other couple order a plate on their special. With a bottle of Prosecco which was delicious as well. The food felt homemade, the flavors were authentic and the pasta was cooked at is correct al dente form. The only "ehh" was the desert, we got tiramisu which was alright. I was so excited to try this wine bar when I saw it opened in the Gables. As an Italian, I am always excited for Italian spots, but also hyper-critical. Let's start off with the aesthetic- absolutely beautiful and the garden area and bar is a great for girls night or date night. We started off with the wine. I ordered my personal favorite the montepulicano-- always good but the pour size is relatively small. Unfortunately the charcuterie is very small. It came with about 5 small toasts. We shared the baked tomino. The truffled salami and patatas bravas were delicious and we LOVED the little marinated onions that it came with. We also ordered the calamari which came with about 5 of the octopus rings (along with the bodies) but a very small portion. We also ordered the ragu (which the waitstaff was raving about). It was just okay, ive had better pasta.. Speaking of the waitstaff, they were MIA for most of the dinner. We sat in the garden, and myself and the fellow patrons were so confused where the food and staff was. Then we saw a cockroach run by and we were all freaking out. Not the restaurant's fault, but I wish they checked on the tables a little more. Very nice ambiance with solid food and live jazz on a Saturday night I attended. Nice crowd and a welcome change from the pretentious Brickell scene. Small bar area (4 seats) with indoor dining and an outdoor courtyard. Some of the best mortadella (with pistachios) I have had in Miami along with great aged parmigiano reggiano cheese. We did not have a reservation but they still were able to accommodate us with a table out front. I was a little nervous that this would mean that we would be forgotten about by staff, but the entire team was super accommodating and were always checking on us. I started with the fusilli w/ pine nuts and shrimp - but it was an acquired taste. The manager noticed and was kind enough to offer other options. I chose the octopus next and that was much better! Let me tell you, I think I've found my new favorite place for wine! Sospiro is absolute adorable and the perfect spot in the Gables to enjoy a glass or two. It's located right next to Anthony's coal fire, and if you didn't know it was there you may totally miss it. They have happy hour until 7, which is when I popped in on Monday. We ordered a charcuterie board, oysters, and a bottle of bubbles. Bottles are 25% off during happy hour with the purchase of a board so that was great. They also have wines by the glass on happy hour in a good amount of varieties. The service was super friendly and the ambiance was perfect for girls night, or date night. I don't even know where to begin with this complete disaster. We had a reservation for 9:15 PM on Valentine's Day, and we didn't even get seated until 10:30 PM--that's over an hour of waiting for a reservation we had booked weeks in advance. To make matters worse, they were seating people with later reservations before us, without any clear reasoning or apologies. No one asked about wait times or gave us any sort of update, and there was no hostess, no list, no organization--just chaos. We stood there for 20 minutes without so much as a greeting. Finally, when we asked about our reservation, the staff member rudely snapped, "You need to wait like everyone else." Completely unprompted, he didn't offer any explanation or apology, and was just plain disrespectful. I was honestly shocked by how rude he was, and it didn't stop there. He was also incredibly short with another couple who was standing next to us. All of this as he poured his friends outside glasses of wine. The tables weren't being cleaned or reset until 15 minutes after people left, which added even more time to our wait. The lack of basic service was appalling--we weren't offered wine, water, or even a simple apology for the ridiculous delay. When we finally thought we were being seated, they put us at a sofa to wait--so we could have been seated there the entire time, but they made us stand for an hour for no reason. Once we finally sat down, it took another 15 minutes just to place our order. At this point, the whole evening was ruined--the mood was completely destroyed. Yes, the food and wine were great, and the venue was cute, but no amount of good food could make up for how unprofessional and disrespectful the entire experience was. This place has no idea how to manage reservations or treat customers with basic courtesy. It was beyond ridiculous. I can't believe I wasted my Valentine's Day here. Never coming back, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. read more

Lovely little place on Ponce in the Gables off the green. Both the inside and outside of the restaurant are romantic and cozy. We ordered oysters, a cheese and meat board, some artichokes and fried calamari and shrimp. There is a great selection of wine by the glass so it was easy to order a glass of champagne for the oysters, then a white, then a red based on what we were eating. The staff were lovely and the food was great. The cheese board was very generous with great variety. My only quip was that we ordered the oysters with champagne first, and they came last- was less enjoyable to eat after sampling all the salami and cheese. Overall a great experience and lovely staff. We had a few plates to shared and then a main course each, everything was delicious! I highly recommend the burrata, mushrooms and filet mignon. My favorite part though, was the service. We made a reservation for this spot for a Friday night date night and it did not disappoint! We really enjoyed the atmosphere and food. We ordered the foie gras, oysters, tuna tartare, octopus, fusilli pesto, and a pizza. We also ordered a bottle of Chianti which we really enjoyed. The foie gras was one of the best appetizers we have ever had! It was so butter and paired very nicely with the fig jam on top. The only thing that could have made it better would have been if the bread was toasted with a little salt. But I will still be back for that dish!! Oysters were fresh and tasty. The tuna tartare was also great. The mango was a nice compliment to the avocado and fish. The only thing that let us down a bit was the octopus. It was very chewy and the broth did not have the flavor I expected, but you got a bite of the tomato or garlic it was awesome. The last thing we had was the pizza. It was AWESOME. All in all, great food experience. The service was a little off for us. We arrived right at our reservation time and it seemed like they didn't really have a table for us. We selected standard seating out of the options (bar, outdoor, standard) assuming it meant an inside seating. When we got there they told us they only had a table outside on the sidewalk. We said we did not mind waiting because we really wanted to experience the cozy atmosphere inside, and we asked for indoor seating in our reservation. We ended up taking the table outside because they were insistent that nothing else was available. As soon as we sat down a table inside opened up and we were able to move after asking which was appreciated! It took a while to get water or have our order taken. This wine bar in Coral Gables is such a vibe. The ambiance is romantic and chic and has such great touches. The back door patio is so inviting and takes you to a whole other place. As a wine novice I am not familiar with wines and like my wines fairly sweet. The waiter was so knowledgeable with the type of wines and suggested a wine that was right in between. It was perfect. For the appetizer, I ordered the fried calamari and shrimp. It was lightly battered, plump and tender. I also had the baked oysters however the breadcrumbs wasn't as crunchy as I like. Still tasty and only was about preference. The shrimp risotto was very delicious and the highlight of the evening. The chocolate cake was molten with cool chocolate ice cream and whipped cream. We ran into this adorable place looking for drinks and snacks. They had just opened so we were able to get a table by the window. Sospiro is a natural wine bar and restaurant and their service is warm and inviting and calm. No one is rushing you here. Brick wall, comfy seating and nice lighting, Sospiro is a vibe. We ordered a few wines and their Gran Tagliere. The Gran Tagliere was plentiful and fresh - an assortment of salamis and prosciutto and a variety of cheeses all interesting and tasty varieties beautifully served with honey, pistachios, grapes, olives and crusty bread. There was so much we happily took some of it home. The wines were all served at the perfect temperature and even though we did not have the wine flight, the neighboring table did and they were generous pours. They also have a fabulous outdoor patio that would be great in the cooler months. The place is cute and cozy and romantic and although we did not have any main dishes, my fellow Yelpers say the food is a cannot miss. I inquired about a private event and was told they do host private events. They have a website with lots of information so, if you are planning a birthday, shower, or work event, Sospiro is a great choice with very fair prices. Where to begin? This gem of a place is in my opinion one of the best new places opened. In the heart of CG next to Anthony's Pizza on Ponce. If I tell you to run, not walk you'll thank me! You'll be greeted by Fabrizio the owner who is from mine & hubby's favorite Country Italy since he's from there as well. The wine list by the glass is outstanding. I think I had 3-4 different ones. And no I wasn't driving , lol, the tapas are spectacular as where their oysters! We sat in the back patio which was beautiful and felt you were in Italy or some place in Europe. That's unbelievable and disrespectful. We had a small pizza, a bottle of rose for $52 dollars and this tiny piece of bread divided by 2 ... total $ 75 PLUS 18% SERVICE CHARGE plus tax = $93.75. We had an 8pm reservation for 9 people on Friday which our friend put a deposit of $40 per person down to celebrate a special occasion. We all love natural wine, and thought this would be the perfect spot. Friends drove from all over Miami, 40+ minutes for nice evening with girlfriends. We all arrived and our table was not ready yet, so they brought us to the back courtyard and gave us a couple lounge chairs & two tiny tables and said they would bring any wine we want complimentary since our table was not ready yet. We ordered a couple bottles of sparkling wine and as 9pm approached (an hour past our reservation time!) we started to order charcuterie boards and a few appetizers. They tried to rush us through the cheeseboards and appetizers, because nothing would fit on the tiny tables they gave us. When they tried to remove a few of our dishes that still had food on them we kindly asked them to leave the plates and they mocked us, we were appalled! The service continued to get worse and the group that was seated at what was meant to be our table never left. No one on staff, including the manager, and owner said anything to the group that had a 6pm reservation (4 hours+)! Knowing they committed the table to a group of nine people at 8 PM they should have kindly told the other guests when they arrived or during their meal that they have a two hour limit and there is a reservation arriving at 8 PM. This never happened & instead of apologizing to us the staff was rude, and provided us with horrible service. They did not remove anything off of our bill and fully charged us for all the wine which said would be complementary since we did not get a table. We spoke to the manager/owner at the end and he was unapologetic. I've never been so disappointed in the lack of hospitality! Our entire group was very disappointed in the place, no one will be going back, and we will be sure to tell friends to never go. I don't know how this place still operates. If I wrote for Infatuation, I would give them a 0.5 rating. I can think of 1000 other restaurants I would put in their place. Don't waste your time or money here. read more
