So sadly disappointed with this place. We were given a couple of places over in the area to try out and decided to go to this place first to eat since they had an "oyster bar". So we walk in and sit at the bar, we are looked at several times over the next 5-7 minutes to include by Debbie, who walks by us three times and takes two orders for people who walk up and stand next to us and then finally looks at us and asks if anyone has helped us yet. We order a beer and ask for a menu, when we order the oysters she makes it seem like it was an inconvenience and then walks off leaving us wondering what the heck?? She returns takes the rest of the order and when we order tater tots with the grouper sandwich, Debbie tells us "The Fryer Is Down", so we have to settle for cold slaw or a tiny bag of chips. The food arrives and she makes a big deal about we don't mix raw and steamed oysters together but she did it special for us an we are the last order of the night. You advertise an oyster bar and you aren't serving oysters at 830 on a Saturday evening??? So here's the kicker, we see wings come out to the bar and I ask the girl bringing them out how do they cook them, she tells me convection, that's how they cook everything, they don't even have fryers, WHAT? Thanks Debbie. During our meal, they came by and took our empty bottles away but never asked us if we wanted another beer, lost sales there , we were planning on having a few there but considering it was so hard to get an order, we finished our tiny oysters and bland grouper sandwich and went to another bar. This is a local dive bar with food. It's right on the water so that you can even pull up in your boat. Food was good, nice & hot. Wings were yummy......but spicy! Tator tots & the crab cakes we're very good. Prices are reasonable. They have a nice area outside that's covered to keep the bugs away & fans to keep it cool. Had an amazing time, but be prepared it is a dive bar with lots of local regulars. Everyone was very nice. We sat outside by the lake but there were a ton of gnats or some other type of bug. Right on the water with a great view, rustic and very much a dive bar, but clean. Like most other bars in Polk County, you can smoke inside which sucks for me...but if it's not too hot you can sit on the outside half of the bar on rickety stools in what feels like a plywood shanty...which is awesome. My husband loves the oysters which you can order by the bucket and get either raw or steamed. They have decent salads and wings too. All in all its a great place to hang out and soak up the local atmosphere. If you love dive bars with decent food this place is for you! read more

WOW! Franks is Awesome. Not being from the area, I initially learned of OMF'S VIA bringfido.com (awesome website). On Saturday, Nov.14, 2015, my German Shepherd and I decided we'd like to have lunch on the deck so I called ahead to confirm that Dogs were in fact welcome . They are. We got there shortly after 1pm and it was quite packed inside and out. We navigated our way to the empty outer deck/tables with the guidance of some kind patrons at the bar. All the way through, all eyes and SMILES were on my DOG. We sat and waited and waited about 30-40 minutes while enjoying Judas Priest, Primus and other BADASS ROCK! LOVE IT!!! Sadly, we never even got to have a glass/bowl of water because they were under staffed (only one server) . I was certainly disappointed BUT, I have a great amount of empathy for anyone in such a predicament, especially to no fault of her own. I have been going to this place for about 9 years now. loved how they redid it. Looks awesome and the bands are definitely awesome there. The food is awesome. Oysters are always fresh. Brittany Ramsey is new there (about 3 months) and she is awesome. always attentive and always fast. never have to wait for a drink when she is working. I always try to be in her section when im there. Highly recommend her. remember ask for Brittany. hope you all have as much fun there as I do. If you love having a smoky atmosphere while waiting forever for your food and having a rude waitress this is your place! We were there at 2 on a weekday.The place was pretty empty and our food took forever as well as having to inhale the cigarette smoke while there. They do have a sign on the front that smoking is allowed so they did warn us. We were shocked as this is not the norm for Florida restaurants.They have no sweeteners for your tea. We asked if something was fresh and were told it was all store bought! Will never go back and would discourage anyone from going. read more

Awesome place! Oysters are fantastic but get there early they will run out, so are the wings (I recommend hot), beers are cheap. Go for the bucket, they let you mix and match different beers. Band is awesome on Sunday nights. read more

They have oysters raw, steamed, broiled with parmesan and Buffalo chicken sauce and broiled with herb butter. Actually, for local charm, it's a great place. We tried raw and Frank's style (parmesan and Buffalo sauce). The raw oysters, while fresh and large, are just ok. I often find the large oysters lacking a bit in flavor. The Frank's oysters were disappointing. But hey, I enjoyed them just the same ... they're oysters for goodness sake! We've been looking a place on the water closer to home and thought we would stop in. There is sign on the front entrance to the patio letting everyone know this place allows smoking. The smoking section is the entire property-inside and out. The view is good, the atmosphere is lively and the beer is cold. If you are looking for a place with good food keep looking. The boneless wings came out steaming hot but when I bit into it they were cold. The fries are ok, I wish they had been cooked a little longer as well. There are plenty of televisions so people can watch their sport of choice but most of the tv's were on the Bucs game-not a Bucs fan but we had one on the race so it was cool. The jukebox has a decent selection, the server was friendly & attentive. I just wish a place with such a limited menu did a better job of what they do serve. I mean, if you have a limited menu than one would think the kitchen has had ample to perfect those few items. All that to say, for a restaurant? OMF's isn't even in the top 10 for me. As a bar? Old Man Frank's has become a Wednesday meeting place for our group because of their $1 tacos. These are soft tacos (beef) and they really are good. Bud Light is on special as well on Wednesdays. Be advised, this is a smoking bar...inside and out, so if you are bothered by smoke, you may want to stay away. That being said, we sit out on the deck next to the water and the smoke isn't bad at all. You can watch the turtles, birds and the occasional gator swim by. People bring their boats and jet-skis to the dock, tie up and chow down. There is an eclectic mix of people there from guys in business suits to laid back locals and now...lots of snowbirds. It looks like its a dive, but the food is good and it's a nice place to sit and visit with a brew. I gave it three stars because there is usually only one server and she acts as cook and bartender as well so things get a little slow sometimes. Our first time here. Not impressed. About 1pm on a Friday afternoon. Service was extremely slow. 15 minutes before drink order. Over an hour before our food arrived. It was not that busy, but they did not have enough help working, I guess. Food was limited to bar food. Out of the freezer, into the pan. Mild Boneless Wings were not very mild. I could not finish them. Burger was very well done (not burned, just VERY well done). Fish was Mahi Mahi and tasted too fishy. Not much of a menu selection. I ordered a draft Ultra and was brought a bottle. Ice Tea was served in 12 ounce cups (pretty small). You have to constantly flag down a waitress for refills. It was more of a bar than a restaurant. If you want to sit, have a drink and watch the sunset, this place might be good. If you want food, with your sunset, keep looking. read more

I used to think this was a great place for drinks and music, however I don't feel that way anymore. If you go there to see a band, be sure that you don't save any seats. Just about was in a fight with another person there, then when the Manager came over, I explained the situation and the manager backed the unbelievable behavior of the rude customer, so it shows who they want in this location. We had been wanting to try this restaurant for a while. We were so sadly disappointed. When we walked in the smell of cigarette smoke was terrible but we found our way to a table and ordered. Every aspect of our order was incorrect. My husband asked for Diet Coke. The waitress did not tell him they didn't have Coke products & brought him a Diet Pepsi. He could tell the difference and had to exchange it for water. I ordered my grouper tacos with no onions. When they came they were covered with onions. I had to send them back. My husband had ordered the boneless wings. When she brought them they were not boneless but had bones. When we said something about them she stated that "well, I'll just take care of your whole friggin order" in not so pleasant a tone. We were very surprised. We will not dine at this restaurant again! I HAVE NEVER FELT SO UNWELCOME.....EVER!! I walked onto the back area of the restaurant and saw that there was plates of wings, oysters and beers on almost all of the tables with birds having their picking at the food. After waiting for 10 minutes the bartender/waiter/outside host/inside waiter asked very abruptly what we wanted with no greeting and only 1 of the 3 people in the group ordered before he stopped, walked inside to place order then left for another 10 minutes. We received the beers and 1 dozen oysters, which were amazing. As he gave us the food and beers he proceeded to slam them down and slide us the crackers, we all felt the hate and from then on it was the worst service I have ever had, and felt hated! I am from the country and love outdoors and seafood but this experience ruined the atmosphere, the food and my night. We all 3 were able to finally order after 20 minutes of waiting and feeling like outsiders. I would have walked out of that place if I did not have a bite of oysters. I even left a tip for shucking the oysters but I have never felt so unwelcome and never have had all plates of our food thrown at us...this is our last time there...we can find the view from a different lake. read more
