As a visitor to the area, I found eating at the Old Mill to be a unique dining experience. I've never eaten at a restaurant that serves a relish tray as an appetizer! As a pub cheese fan, I found it a nice surprise to find it waiting at the table. Very yummy! I got the chicken old mill since it was a specialty and I thought it was good. Definitely needed a to go box. There's no excuse to leave here hungry. Get a window seat if you can to get a view of the river.

The idyllic Old Mill Restaurant Mt Upton, NY

On Route 8, about 9 miles from Sidney, The Old Mill is a gem of fine dining. From the warm welcome on arrival to the favoured window seats by the soft flowing Unadilla River and the complimentary cheese/biscuits/homemade bread rolls + extensive relish tray, you are spoiled for choice even before you look at the menu ! There are some traditional favourites on offer such as Chicken Old Mill which delighted my wife, though I plumped for Coconut Shrimp which was absolutely delicious. We really enjoyed our dining experience and will certainly return on our next trip. Our holiday took us from Toronto through Niagara Falls to the Finger Lakes and beyond during late August and September and dining at the Old Mill was a trip highlight.

Our server…read moreEmory was kind and helpful -- she even learned the name of all six people at our table and remembered them for the entire dinner. The food at One With Land is sourced locally and tasted great. For our appetizer and main course we tried the potato croquettes, rainbow carrots, fusilli with short rib, garganelli primavera, rib eye steak, and the burger. Everyone's entrees tasted great and had large portion sizes. My favorite dish was the rainbow carrots with salsa macha -- the carrots were perfectly tender and the salsa macha had good flavor and spice. We ordered grandma's olive oil cake and dark chocolate-espresso torte for dessert, and the restaurant also brought out warm doughnuts as we were celebrating a birthday. All three desserts were delicious and unique, but the warm doughnuts with Nutella stole the show. The restaurant appears to be located in a historic house, and the interior decorating is very neutral and modern. Every detail large and small seemed carefully well thought out, from the service and table layouts to even the Aesop soap with pumice in the bathroom (that I would now like to buy). I'd recommend One With Land to anyone visiting the Hudson Valley area looking for great food or a romantic night out.

It's a small restaurant and the layout and decorations are perfect! I would suggest having a reservation if you can, because it is tiny but not in a hole in the wall kind of way more in a cool private elite dining room kind of way. Shout out to the bar tender who is amazing. Rumor is she was working at the restaurant that was here before (Hoot Owl) and she was so good the owners of this new restaurant brought her here. I can believe it her drinks are impeccable! A friend told me an experience before about how she got a drink and not because of the bar tender but because of her palate she didn't prefer it. She wasn't going to complain. She just didn't drink it. The staff noticed her drink wasn't touched and they asked her about it. She explained it wasn't her preference so they took it and got her something else. That's exceptional service! She didn't say it they went to her! 10/10, all restaurants should have such attentiveness and kindness towards their customers. Now ...the food!! Wow! I mean I dream about this shaved celery salad they have. Like it's celery, which don't get me wrong I personally think it's one of the most important ingredients in a dish but when it's added to something not when it's the main star. They managed to make it the main star and it's beautiful, sophisticated, and most importantly it tastes good. Honestly everything I have tried here is yummy. The burger is probably the cheapest entree on their menu which is about $24 if I remember correctly. Don't think because it's a lesser price point you are missing out on quality or taste. The burger is huge, the fries are perfectly seasoned and crisp, and the burger patty is juicy and flavorful. Oh and the bun! That soft pillow bun that is holding that juicy patty....drooling! I truly have not had a dish here that they have done bad and I hope they never prove me wrong. As pricing goes it's farm to table so expect a higher price point since they are using quality ingredients but it's not high enough that it will break the bank!

As they say it's a red flag when u walk into a restaurant and there's too many seats and not enough asses to fill them. And then my fiance his chicken he said tasted sour, I hope he didn't get sick like I did right after I feel like throwing up just writing this. As my mother would probably say "this tastes trouble" but unfortunately my fiance is too introverted to say anything, thank fuck we didn't order any appetizers too, wouldn't want more food to go to waste in this establishment. Oh can I mention the bugs too? There were ants on our table, ants, they probably got worse and the bathrooms soap pump doesn't work so they had to put another whole bottle separately on the sink for people to use. And guess what.. the manager still charged us for the dish that tasted like nothing even tho I only tasted a small bit of it, for that, you can go fuck yourself. As for our server, hun, when a customer is trying to be nice and understanding u don't say "ok" dismissively multiple times, you need to learn how to be a good server and learn how to serve your customers.. and for that, yes I left that no tip on purpose. I tip very well usually but when a service is absolutely horrible like that and the manager just decides to be petty? You won't be getting anything from us at all. Save the time and effort, drive somewhere else.. this place will never be worth it, besides you'll be stuck at the entrance for about 5 mins or so before a server gives a shit about ya anyways.

Located in the center of Sharon Springs, Fancy Farmer is a local restaurant and bar which was…read morerenovated completely from the former Brookfield Laundromat, Brookfield Studio, Coffee House, and US Gas & Deli (gas pumps removed). They are still going through their soft opening period with an abbreviated food menu at the time of this posting. A larger menu is upcoming. The food menu offerings include appetizers, salads, burger & sandwich plates, bowls, chicken entrees, pork tenderloin, coconut shrimp, pierogies & kielbasa, filet mignon, ribeye steak, kids menu, and desserts. The pricing seems pretty fair, most entrees in the $12-$21 range with a few in the $26-$40 range. The place has a laid back rustic barnhouse atmosphere with dim lighting with seating up at the center bar in front surrounded by high top tables and booths, flat screen TVs on the walls, and a back dining area with regular tables. The bar offers 6 beers on tap, wine and mixed drinks. While driving along US 20 through the farm country of Schoharie County, I stopped in for dinner at Fancy Farmer in Sharon Springs. The place was moderately busy on a hot Saturday evening. I headed up to the bar and took a seat. The bartender gave me a food menu and I requested ice water as I made choices. I started out with Pierogies (4 for $6.50 plus tax) which came out hot, 4 pan fried potato filled Polish dumplings with sauteed onions & sauerkraut and sour cream. These oily firm pierogies were really great and I enjoyed each bite. Next, the Low Country Shrimp & Grits ($17.95 plus tax) was a modest portion with soft stone ground grits smothered with a creole sauce, Gouda cheese, andoulle sausage slices and three grilled very firm seasoned shrimp, no tail and cleaned. This Southern style dish had a nice spicy flavors and the grits were not too hot. I was all set after finishing my food and got the check which was $26.41 with tax and before tip. Overall, I really enjoyed my meal with good service. The bartender checked up on me asking how the food was and offered refills on the ice water. I would definitely return to Fancy Farmer once their menu is expanded and can't wait to taste what they'll have to offer.

Food was very tasty and well prepared. It was not hot. I didn't really mind so much because it was good. And I was hungry. Salad bar potion of the buffet was mostly empty. Little disappointed in that. Service to our table and bar tender were very friendly and on point. The restaurant itself was very nice and had a great atmosphere. I will be back and hopefully have a five star experience and review to follow.

I unfortunately have mixed feelings about this place! I have been here many times and the photos…read moreare from a recent time where we got the $250 steak. So yeah as you can imagine this place is pricey and is definitely for a special occasion. On this visit we had exceptional service and they even brought us free caviar! I have seen them do this before. We had a girls night here one time and one of my friends got there early. As she waited they gave her a complimentary glass of champagne. This type of customer service is amazing and is what is expected of an establishment of this caliber. I mean a room at the hotel here will cost you about $1000 a night. So as you can guess it is not unusual to see celebrities here as well. Before I get into the food I will tell you what made me give them 3 stars. One morning I brought a friend here that was going through something. I wanted to treat her to a nice breakfast. We sat on there terrace by the fire pits. As I've said before I've been here often. The waiter who was not as friendly as I've had before told me in order to eat there I needed to put a card on file. Huh? I've never seen that before but okay sure. I mentioned how I would likely order something to go to for my husband at the end of our meal. The service was not great because they did not come back and when they finally did they swiped my card and gave me the final check. Huh? I never said I was finished and again I had already mentioned I wanted to order something to go. When I asked this new waitress ( the original guy was no where in sight) why they ran my card already because I specifically said I wanted to order something to go her nonchalant response was that she could just run it again. I've thought about that experience. It felt so off and I would have said something more at the time but again I was having breakfast with a friend who was going through something. Not the time to complain. So when I met someone who worked there at a diffrent event. I shared my experience and asked if this is a policy of there's to put a card on file to eat on the terrace. As you can guess it is not. Unfortunately, as you can imagine I felt discriminated against. I guess our waiter assumed I wouldn't pay my check and wanted to make sure he had my card and he swiped it as soon as he saw us take the last bites on our plates. After I talked to this employee I did write the restaurant to let them know of this experience and sadly I got no reply. I will say I have been back since then and did not get treated that way. But I felt like it's important to let others know. This is by no means a cheap restaurant especially in the economy! I would expect not to be made to feel the way I felt that day and would never want at one to feel that way. Benefit of the doubt maybe that waiter did have someone run out on his check in the past and wanted to ensure it did not happen again. I can understand that because I know some restaurants make the waiter pay for those walkouts, which is also not fair to them. It would have been nice though that when I contacted them about the situation they would have acknowledged what happened. And maybe just better training on how to go about the situation to make sure their customers don't feel like you assume they are criminals. Okay the food. First there French fries are a favorite. Random I know but I appreciate a good fry. The steak was cooked perfectly and the cocktails were got were a 10! I've had food from the breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu. The food is farm to table and I love sitting either outside or by the open kitchen as you watch the chefs cook. All and all I say it's worth going even for a cocktail. Sometimes they have live music playing and it's super cute for a nice date night. They do valet parking and have tons of charging stations.
