After waiting 30 minutes for my karaoke song, I tipped the worker (skinny blond young kid) and he tore my money in half after I walked away. He would only play songs for his friends and not go in order. The guy was a huge dick. There was also a bar fight. The tipping point was when we got beer spit on all of us. We always seek out the bar with "marginal" reviews on road trips. This is a local hangout and the locals live in the mountains of Washington state year round. The service is great if you aren't a Karen. It's a bar plain and simple. The people and staff are friendly and real people with great stories to share. It's not easy to live in a tourist trap year round. read more

Hey Yelpers. Billy D and bride are back in Leavenworth for some Valentines Day fun. The Post Office is a mandatory pre-func stop when we come here. It's not fancy or hip. It's a regular bar with pool tables, darts, Pull-tabs etc. There are plenty of TV's to watch sports as well. The gals working are pleasant but can get overwhelmed working the bar and surrounding tables. The drinks are very reasonable and there is no pressure to keep drinking while occupying a seat. It's an easygoing place but it can get loud. There is the tourist trade and locals in there. Most of the locals stick to the bar proper. I don't know how the food is but it looks like standard bar food. Meaning deep fried stuff like onion rings and such. In this town there are many better options food wise but you'd be hard pressed to get a cocktail or a beer at the prices the Post Office charges. read more

Do not come here if you want to be around cool, chill people. Came here with my boyfriend and his mom looking to do some karaoke. We saw people taking photos outside and we tried to scoot past to get inside. Turns out people were taking photos with the bouncer who stopped us rather aggressively and said he needed our IDs. We didn't realize he was the bouncer since he was goofing off and not really doing his job. That's fine, we took our IDs and waited. The woman who was taking a photo with him was extremely rude and obnoxious towards us. We didn't say anything, we just were waiting while they took their sweet time and the woman kept telling us we "need to wait," and "need to chill." Keep in mind we have not said anything and we were not pushing them to hurry. She was so obnoxious about it that we decided to call it and move on to another spot. As we started to walk away they all started yelling at us saying "really??!" And "F*** you guys!" Safe to say I'm happy we did not stay around that kind of vibe. read more

Came on 8/10/19 with a couple of my friends. Our server, Christy was amazing! She never left us waiting for drink refills. I ordered the Sourdough grilled cheese with fries. It was perfectly toasted. Other items ordered were the fried pickles, BLT, and quesadillas. All were amazing. I am still shocked at the reasonable prices, my total order was under $10 with a soda. This was one of the bars my friends and I checked out during our visit. This place was crowded. There's karaoke and pool tables for entertainment. I wasn't too crazy about this place because the people I met (out of towners) were rude to my group when we were playing a round of pool. When we got to the table, we asked the group sitting near it if we can use it (which they did). A few min later, two of the guys were interfering our game and trying to get us to finish quickly. I never experience that when playing pool at other bars but it was a big turn off. There's really nothing special about the place and better bars to hang out at. read more

Fabulous karaoke starts at 9:30, easy song request system on their website. Great dinner served even after 9 pm! We had steak dinners for around $20, can order bar snacks too. Never found such a generous menu at a bar. Bartenders and barracks were females, very kind and attentive. Some commenter did not like the bouncer but we found him to be tough but fair. Took me and my girlfriend to grab a drink here after a nice dinner at larch. Didn't read the reviews first and had no idea for what we were getting ourselves into. Every single negative review I can single-handedly confirm to be 100% true. Door guy, jeering locals gatekeeping their sacred dive bar, and most importantly the little bartender lady. Had a shirt that said "I do this thing called whatever I want." Definitely no f's given kinda vibe. However, even if I had the worst experience of my life here, I would still be putting a 5-star. Girlfriend asked for a margarita and I can only describe what she got as center-fold of margaritas. Other margaritas go to third-world countries to get black-market plastic surgery in hopes of looking like this marg. Be warned, we had to do some convincing to get her to make one, but once we tried it we completely understood why doing this thing called "whatever I want" pays off for this little Bavarian dive bar. read more

Fun atmosphere! A decent sized dive bar downtown that is pretty fun. It was karaoke night when we were there and it was a lot of fun! Everyone sang along and the DJ was good at not letting people wait too long for their turn. The drinks were decently priced as well. A good place to stop on a relaxed night to have a drink. read more

What a dive. Worst Karaoke we've ever heard. Terrible sound system, no stage just out in the middle of the walkway to get into the bar. Bunch of over-served kids and a bouncer. Obviously not a place to hang out if you're over 25. Bar tender busy with the obnoxious bachelorette party at the bar. We left without being served. Next time in Leavenworth we'll just go to sleep with the rest of town at 9pm. read more

Located in the middle of town, this is a place where the locals hang out. Great non-tourist spot to play pool, darts, music, and pull tabs. Down to earth, no frills, and friendly. read more

They were very rude and made us wait just because they didn't like our type of people.

It says open till 2am but that's far from the truth. We were rudely kicked out by the bartender at 1 am with the threat of the bouncer if we didn't leave before 1 am because "everyone wants to go home". I can appreciate that but don't set your hours till 2am if you want to go home by 1 am. read more

Yikes. First off, when the bar gets "busy" you have to walk to the Gatorade pitchers near the bathroom for your own water. Meaning, about 2 hours before they anticipate filling the bar while they have 2 servers on staff. Second, dont bother ordering anything besides a "rum and coke" because these folks aren't bartenders. Customer service is horrible for any sort of normal request. Take your 20% tip elsewhere. read more

Dive bar...but it's a 5-star dive bar. Treated very good here. This is more of a local place, probably not for the snobs or the Vanderwalls. No tennis courts or country club atmosphere. Don't come here if you're a tourist!! A nice lady recommended for us to check out "The PO", as the locals call it. So four girls from Seattle arrive in the bar looking for some good 'ole Leavenworth fun. We had 6-8 shots EACH and were nowhere near tipsy. Mind you, some of us are lightweights. So we knew something had to be up. We talked to some of the locals and they revealed that they serve watered down shots and drinks for tourists. WHAAAAAT? THAT GOT ME PISSED OFF. But I still wanted to drink. So it was bottled beer for me. WHAT a waste of money. I would NEVER EVER go back there again. There's also a ton of shady people there. So beware. The karaoke was ok... all country and no fun. We sang Baby Got Back and that really got the whole bar pumping. That 4 minutes of Baby Got Back was the only fun I had there. read more

WARNING: THIS PLACE KICKS OUT WOMEN WHO STAND UP FOR THEMSELVES TO DRUNKEN LOCALS!!!! My boyfriend went here last Saturday while on vacation to sing karaoke. They hassled us a bit when we came in about my service dog (I showed the doorman his papers, and was still met with, "well, I guess I can let you in") but once we were inside, we were fine! We tipped the KJ well, so even though there were a lot of people there we each got to sing. We had been there for about an hour and a half when I took the dog out to go potty and the trouble started. As I walked outside, a guy hanging out and talking with the doorman yelled out at me, "Go Home Fat Ass" so I went back and quite calmly asked if he had just called me a fat ass. He stammered and said, "Uh no, I said ferret! I said go home ferret!" I replied, "Obviously my dog is not a ferret. That doesn't even make sense!" The doorman (who had been standing there the entire time and heard the man insult me) then told ME I had to leave because I was causing a scene!! I never raised my voice while talking to the guy; I was merely calling him out for insulting me. So to clarify: The doorman kicked out the sober (our bar tab was $8) disabled female for standing up for herself, but let the drunken and insulting local guys back into the bar... the doorman's defense: he's just trying to keep the peace. We went back the next morning so I could tell the owner what happened and to get an apology and was met with, "well, he was just doing his job." read more

Oktoberfest and walked in and it was packed. We decided to leave before ordering a drink and after that the rest in my group was talking to the door man while I was at the end of the block. I walked back to see what the talk was about and he was accusing me of purposely bumbling him "body check" in his words. I didn't and have no clue why he was accusing me so I walked away and really didn't care. Then other friends arrived later and tried to get me back in but he wasn't having it. When you're tired of pretzels, brats and German beers and you want to step away from the more touristy places, the Post Office Tavern is a great alternative in Leavenworth. Northing fancy going on here, but you can get a good beer or bar drink, decent food and interesting conversation. I had a salad, steak, baked potatoe and veggies for a very moderate price (under $15) and it was A-OK! We enjoyed the low-key atmosphere, the great selection of football games and visiting with the owner. read more

Cheap drinks and a fun spot for karaoke! We came here and there were three bachelorette parties enjoying the bar atmosphere. It made for really fun singalongs and interesting photos. I ordered two gin and tonics and they were $4 each for a huge cup which was awesome! read more

After one restaurant where we were not allowed to order drinks from the bar unless we had bar stools, this place quickly became our home base. The Post Office isn't anything special, but while visiting a town like Leavenworth, it was nice to know there was a bar around that felt like most pool hall / bars i'd been to before. Spent Friday night there and came back Saturday as we enjoyed our experience Friday. The same bouncer and bartender were working but we were greeted with rudeness and attitude. Let's start out by saying the bartenders are amazing. This was our first trip here and wanted to do Karaoke. The "bouncer" came in and started moving tables etc., and since he was almost in our space, we said hello, and tried to start a conversation, and he was so RUDE! We told him later he didn't have to be so rude, he responded, I don't have to be nice here. We were meeting and talking to people next to us and having a great time, the bouncer then came over and asked us to leave as we were being "aggressive" LOL Umm NO! The table we were even talk with told him that wasn't happening, so he kicked them out too! Just ridiculous. NOW, for the karaoke, the guy did it, did most of the singing, and was just an absolute ass when you went up to sign up to sing, and was telling people that they couldn't sing anymore and refused to let them sign up to sing. This experience is the most ridiculous I have ever encountered. Avoid this place at all costs, not worth it!!! WE WILL NOT BE BACK, and we will make sure our friends and family that frequently visit there, to stay away. read more

This is probably the worst bar in town. I showed up with 3 of my friends and the bouncer was really condescending to my first friend who got carded. My second friend gave the bouncer her ID, and he turned her away and accused her of have been drinking all day even though this was our first stop of the night. I visit Leavenworth 3+ times a year and used to love visiting post office for a drink, but now i will never come back after how our group was treated. Save your money and visit The Loft for a good drink. read more

It just seemed like a cluster F when were in there. This place wasn't meant for a a lot of people. Not much room to move. They do have Pool tables, and Karaoke so that was fun. Worst service on Earth, why be rude to your customers? We simply asked what they had on tap and she said "go over and look for yourself"..... Apperanly they don't know what customer service is. As we frequently "glamp" (camp in motorhomes) in nearby Plain, us girls like to go shopping while the boys go ride the trails. This past weekend, we stopped at the Post Office for lunch. Their menu boasts a typical array of fried bar food, sandwiches, salads and burgers. All four of us had the chef's salad - crisp iceberg lettuce with REAL roast turkey, REAL roast ham, olives, cheese, green onions and croutons with your choice of dressing, topped off with a hard boiled egg. To be honest, I was a little disappointed with the lack of meat on the salad. To me, that's the star of a chef's salad (besides the lettuce) and for the pricepoint (somewhere between $8-$9), I expected a little more. The redeeming part about the meat is that it was, at least, REAL in-house roasted meat. Bartender/server was awesome - super personality, attentive service. I look forward to going back and seeing what else there is on the menu that might spark my interest. Maybe it was just an off day for the salad toppings. read more

Only giving this 3 stars because it is a local semi-dive! But let me say, I love a good dive bar! I feel this place is a hidden gem when you're tired of Brats and lederhosen. Good old fried bar food, strong drinks and a crappy jukebox. The best item on the menu by far are the deep fried pickle spears, just get them! read more
