This is a decent bar in Leavenworth. We were there on a weekday so the place was pretty dead. There's a nice pool table area and juke box on the side so we played some music and shot some pool. I almost puked. I stopped in this joint for a cocktail while my wife was hitting the gift shops. While sitting at the bar, I noticed an older woman sitting at the end eating. She was also hand feeding and petting a mangy slobbering dog that was sitting on the floor. Between bites, the mutt sat there scratching what must have been a world class case of fleas, ticks, crabs, or whatever. What happened next is what almost made me puke. It turns out the old woman is the COOK!!! I watched her get up, go into the kitchen area, and start messing around with the food. WITHOUT WASHING HER HANDS!!! What a slob! The mutt then proceeded to make the rounds going from patron to patron begging for more food. Gross! On the plus side, this spectacle put me off of ordering any food. Most restaurants/bars here have a menu near the front door. Since this place didn't, we asked the waitress/bar tender for a menu and she responded "huhhh??? What???" The music wasn't even loud. Then we asked again and she said, "yah of course we have menus..." The tone of her voice was rude and condescending. She gave us the menus and we took one look, put it down, and walked away. I have never used Yelp before this post because I was so disappointed by my experience at Post Office. I came to Leavenworth for my birthday, which was this past Sunday with my intention of grabbing a drink and watching a very significant and important football game to me. Post Office has roughly 12 TVs, and they were all playing the Seahawks game, understandably as we're in Washington. We sit down in a corner of the room and ask the bartender/waitress if she could change one of the TVs to the game I wanted to watch. Just one small TV in the corner. She flat out refuses. She then proceeded to be exceedingly rude to me, and basically rubbed in my face that she wasn't going to change the TV. I was shocked. I looked for other people working, and could only see this one woman, 2:30pm on 12/30/2018. This was my worst experience in Leavenworth by far, beautiful town. However this was the worst part of my birthday, and for the rest of my life when people mention this town I will implore them not to come to this establishment. Never ceases to amaze me how a person with no people skills or personality gravitates towards customer service. I visit Leavenworth several times annually and miss the good old times at the Post Office.. The Saturday afternoon bartender acts like customers are a burden to her unless they are locals. Love that this bar has darts and karaoke. The atmosphere is definitely divey. Overall, its a fun bar but the draft beer comes in a tiny glass but costs 4 bucks. The shots did seem watered down too. Can be a bit crowded at night, but come around 5 and you'll have the place to yourself. There are better spots in Leavenworth to check out. read more

The staff "tolerated" the 5 of us that we're there at 4:00 on a Thursday afternoon, beginning the Labor Day weekend. Prices were on par with the rest of the bars in the town but no patio, worn furniture and poor service made it a one-drink stop for us. We came here for NYE. I was slightly concerned about the nightlife here for NYE, but the place was rockin! Karaoke, free hats and whistles. So much fun! Drinks didn't seem too pricey or anything. I of course sang me some Karaoke...the DJ was a little uptight, would let me do the Old School version of Total Eclipse of the Heart...lame! We also wanted to sing some Backstreet Boys...ya I know...and he didn't have I want it That Way! What?! Other than that snafu, we had a blast...oh and other than that rando drunk guy that purposely spilled his drink on my hubby due to the fact we wouldn't let him kiss our friend...the bouncers were quick to get him out of there. I came here for a bachelorette party. The person at the Solstice Spa and Inn recommended we stay in Leavenworth instead of going out to Chelan to play. It was probably a good idea that we did stay in Leavenworth because this place was like half a block to the Inn. We never made it to the Loft (which is where she recommended) because the bride to be ended her night a little earlier. I guess so did I. It turned out to be really fun because there were 3 other bachelorette parties and a bachelor party there. I remember one local sitting at the bar that wasn't particularly nice but other than that everyone else there was extremely nice. I didn't really have any drinks here at the post office but I saw in my previous friend's post that when she came here they water down the shots for the tourist people. Karaoke was kind of fun and the person who manages it was really into the music however song selection/ and process could have been a little better. Otherwise overall good experience and good location. I don't think we would have wanted to walk more than half a block at the end of the night. read more

This was the first place we came on our Oktoberfest trip (Friday before the festival started) and aside from the mustiness of the place (the old stale smell of cigarettes lingered), it was excellent. Definitely didn't give off that "Leavenworth" feel, was more like a familiar ol' dive bar. The food was good, I had a fried chicken sandwich and fries-- Came back here a few times in the night and the place was packed. They have lots of TVs if you're a sports fan, and pool tables and darts if you want to play a game. The owner, Mel, was really friendly and accommodating to us. read more

Only bar in town with Karaoke, pool, darts etc most traditional bar in town. Good drinks OK service. Can get very crowded during summer months. Food was decent just like more bars. As for the watered down alcohol the drinks I've had there are usually very strong. read more

Pretty good bar for a small town. Lots of locals- they even have a wall filled with pictures of locals that get a special jacket. Service was ok but nothing to brag about- not to friendly as to be expected in a tourist town. Beer was a little pricey- picture of Budlight $13. Great place to finish the night when doing Oktoberfest. Two pool tables and two soft tip dart boards means a short wait if that is your thing. The waitstaff is good, fast, and accurate with your tab of you set one up. That is a rare feat here especially when there are sooooo many people here or the festivities. Mel and the rest of the staff are awesome. It was a really fun, cheap dive bar. The only problem for me is dive bar shouldn't have to mean dirty bar. The carpet floors were sticky - literally - I could barely move my feet and the overwhelming smell of old beer was unappetizing. The Post Office has been a staple of our Leavenvorth visits. Always have had a good time there. Just went there tonight and the Kareoke host was such a jerk. We left there not singing because he was "offended" that we asked for a song that he did not have. He was rude and told us to walk away. When we called on management to help, they kicked us out. Only place in town to watch sporting events, but bartender was quite surley and snarky. Would have more stars without her.

I have been debating giving this a two star review or a three star review. I decided to go with three. They got 3 stars because overall the drinks were pretty cheap and strong. My husband and I were looking for a local place to watch a football game and have a drink.. After reading reviews for this bar we figured we'd give it a try. The reviews that say the staff is rude and in attentive to anyone who isn't a "regular" is completely true.. We felt we had invaded their turf. We stayed in town while snowboarding at Stephens Pass and wanted to check out the nightlife. This is a pretty fun bar. Pool, darts, jukebox, and drinks. The main issue was the group of locals. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!! On my friend's and my annual Christmas trip to Leavenworth today, we decided to try Old Post Office Tavern for lunch around 2:30pm. We had never been to the tavern before and when we walked in the doorman just awkwardly glared at us not saying a word. We asked politely if we were supposed to seat ourselves and he VERY rudely snapped, "Yeah. Obviously, this is a bar"... I was so shocked at how rude he was, I replied, "We don't know anything about your seating. We've never been here before. Wow." He just sat there in silence, like we were bothering him, so we started towards a table. Then he suddenly decided he wanted to check our IDs, which was totally fine. I am 28 years old, go to a lot of bars, and have never once had an issue with my ID. I showed him my driver's license, and after an annoyingly exaggerated minute of him looking back and forth from my ID to my face while rolling his eyes, he said, "I hope you have another ID". To appease him, I showed him a couple credit cards with my name on them, because why would I have any other form of ID as a 28 year old? Also, I am from Virginia and the new ID is impossible to be replicated, and it's pretty obvious by looking at it. The credit cards weren't good enough, and he asked if I had a military ID. Um, no. He then sat there "deciding" if he was going to let me into this pathetic dive bar, but I was so hungry that I didn't care that this dude was on a little power trip, and we finally got through the golden gates. I should add that my friend is 21, and her ID magically passed the test immediately. Interesting since I was the one who responded to the attitude he gave us when we arrived. Once inside, we came to the conclusion that we should have just hit up McDonalds. We strongly considered leaving a few dollars on the table for my soda and leaving, but decided since our order was already put in, that may not be legal. Our waitress didn't say a word to us the entire time. It was so strange that we were laughing about this being Scrooge's bar. We waited over 45 minutes for grilled cheese when the place wasn't even remotely busy. Also, my friend's drinking water was served in a Solo cup and she was told that if she wanted more, the "water jug" was upstairs around the corner. I got to drink my soda with a coffee stirrer and was offered no refills... Delicious! This place was terrible, and we will NEVER go back! I tried really hard not to let the doorman put a damper on my trip, but the way he treated me really got to both of us. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! There was clearly a reason why every eatery in Leavenworth had an hour wait and we basically walked into this one. (Other than the long delay dealing with the doorman's adorable power trip.) Ugh. good spot to chill. not pretentious...has pool tables...just a normal middle of the road place for normal chill peeps to get a drink and have a good time. i used to complain that it was too lit up in there but last time i was in there it didnt seem to bright. good spot with good friendly servers. read more

Wife and I prefer simple places without pretension. This is a good fit. Not a tourist place in the going Leavenworth style, just a hometown tavern. Mary Frances is a doll (barkeep of 18 years here). Probably could be described as more of a local hangout, since it isn't pretending to be particularly Bavarian. But we were most definitely made to feel welcome and right at home here. We'd give it 5 stars, but they might be a bit embarrassed, and they wouldn't want 'em anyway. That's just not what they're going for, and we wouldn't love it as much as we do if they were! It's a tavern, and we loved it. Those guys on the wall would be us, if we lived there. read more

My review is just as much about how wonderful the lovely bartender Mary Frances is, as it is about the Old Post Office. The ambiance of the bar is inviting. The pool tables draw a fun crowd. I get the feeling the place is not just for the tourists but for locals too. The walls are lined with trophies won in local competitions. Mary Frances made my friends and I feel right at home! Her drink knowledge and hospitality really made our time in the establishment a comfortable and fun one! I do not get a chance to visit Leavenworth often, but I have a new favorite spot when I do! read more
