MD jumbo lump crab cake, mac and cheese, cucumber & onions salad (not shown).

Haven't been back to Old Salty's in way too long, and it was a nice sunny winter day for a drive. We had the jumbo lump crab cake with two sides and the jumbo lump imperial, with two sides, and of course the proper adult beverages. Everything was delicious, and the service was excellent. Our server was Chaney and she was knowledgeable, attentive without being intrusive, and very pleasant. We will come back again - maybe sooner this time!

Swung by on a Saturday drive around 1230 and had a seat outside in the gorgeous weather with great views. People started really rolling in around 1 and the bartender was doing her best attending to everyone she really did a good job. I had the grilled fish tacos two of them come with the meal along with some chips and salsa. They were good and the dessert with the ice cream, funnel cake and ole bay!!! Was shockingly delish. The performer today on 14 September was exceptional! Great views, great vibes, great drinks, and solid food.

Literally in the middle of the Chesapeake Bay.

Some places, you really have to want to get there. Old Salty's is on the way to literally nowhere - the land ends not far past it. But it's worth the drive! The view of the water and sunset is excellent. We were there just before the delightful patio opens for the season, but we had a table by the garage door windows. They were closed but I imagine it's fantastic when open. We decided to try the soft crab bites - we chose deep fried, though they are also available broiled. Really tasty! Our dinners were great - I had hand breaded, butterflied fried jumbo shrimp and fries; my husband had a perfectly cooked hamburger steak. We tried 3 of the crush drink specials... little sweet for my taste, but when in Maryland, amirite? Our server was attentive and so friendly. While everything at our table was pretty perfect, we overheard the table behind us having some kind of issue. Didn't hear exactly what. But the staff bent over backwards to make it right - it was clear they cared deeply about customer satisfaction. We will absolutely be back. It's a one of a kind, must experience destination in Dorchester County.

Way smaller than they used to be and very chincy on the crabmeat for $30.

This has been one of my top three Maryland seafood restaurants for years. Amazing food and great service have been the norm, but the food on my last visit showed some cracks in the foundation. The cream of crab was more cream of celery than anything and was topped not with lump or even backfin crab but something that resembled what is leftover from picking a crab. It wasn't fresh and not enjoyable. Yeah, it was winter and I guess what I got for the price was reasonable at $10. The "topped" (stuffed) oysters, which have always been one of my absolute favorite seafood dishes, was horribly disappointing this go-around. They used to serve six hand-sized oysters topped with what was seriously about a half pound of jumbo lump imperial and a gooey cheese topping. This time it looked as if they counted three lumps per oyster. Additionally, the oysters used to be the size of golf balls - this time they were shriveled and tiny - about a tablespoon in size. They were the same $30 price point they've always been. Not a good value this time. I got the vibe that the place is under new ownership - there's a new bar and outside Tiki-style patio. Maybe I am wrong. I left sad.

Our party of three drove the 26 miles from Cambridge to old saltys On Hooper Island. The drive is very relaxing and tranquil with all the farmland, marshes and different water views. We arrived a few minutes after they opened at noon and were pleasantly greeted and seated in the main dining area at a table with a great view of tar Bay and the western shore. I inquired about the restaurant changing hands in the last few years and the experienced waitress provided all pertinent information. We all opted for the jumbo lump crabcake with different sides and an order of their brussels sprouts as an appetizer Service was very prompt and the brussels sprouts were without a doubt the best we have ever had. The jumbo lump crabcakes were exactly as advertised with no filler, and perfectly seasoned to complement the lump crab. I asked if the onion rings were homemade, and the waitress said no, but that they were very good and she was spot on, as close to homemade as you can get and perfectly fried. The coleslaw was the sweet variety and again perfectly seasoned and very fresh. The corn pudding was a different variety than we are used to and While passable, it was not what we were expecting. The homemade yeast rolls were delicious and the waitress said we could have as many as we wanted, but one was sufficient with all the other food. The restaurant is accessible by boat, and the new owners have added a large outdoor patio area with its own bar and nine big picnic tables and dog friendly. By the time we departed, the restaurant was beginning to get busy, not bad for a Wednesday. If I could figure out how to give half stars, I would gladly give it and will look forward to our next visit.

    Prime spot to enjoy sunset.

Liked the crab cakes, corn pudding, fries and salad. Great friendly service. Amazing place to enjoy Eastern Shore sunset. Sorry we cannot stick around to try the oysters and other options. Thankfully, the fans keep mosquitoes at bay.

JLCC. That's what you need to try, the Jumbo Lump Crab Cake.

My wife grew up visiting her grandfather who made weekly trips to Deale island to check on a rental property and purchase crab cakes. My mother taught piano lessons to the family that owned Anne Arundel Seafood. My wife and I have had hundreds of crab cakes from the time we were just little kids. We both agree, Old Salty's makes The Best Crabcake. Our server Lauren did a great job. The restaurant is a bit out of the way. They might be short staffed. I recommend you look past the shortcomings and just order a jumbo lump crab cake.

There was one single waitress, and while she was a doll, she clearly was not prepared for an 8-top to walk in as soon as they opened. We were promptly greeted and sat, and our drink orders were taken. She was brewing fresh sweet tea, which was worth the wait. Additionally, one of my family members requested unsweet ice tea, and the owner actually went out to the store and bought more tea to make it for her. We sampled the crab dip appetizer (GOOEY GOODNESS), and we were served free cornbread for the table. The cornbread was unreal - it was the most dense, decadent, flavorful cornbread I've ever hard, though noticeably underbaked (which I personally believe added to it's goodness!) Portions were huge, and the food was really tasty and rich. Things move a little slower here than most places, but if you're not in a rush, pull up a seat. Heed parking signs outside, as it's street parking.

The Washington Hotel bears his name and it has been rehabilitated and maintained in colonial style to feel genuine and welcoming. When I walked in they were doing a bridal shower, so I grabbed a stool in the barroom near the back kitchen. Service was amenable despite working their tooshies off for the bridal party. I didn't mind waiting and having a break from the long drive home from Newport News. There were several ghosts accompanying me at the bar. The food was excellent. Veggie Omelet and Potato Hash were both farm to table fresh, and the coffee was brisk and hot. Worth the wait. The hotel was as much museum as bed & breakfast. Tons of charm without being gitchee.
