I visit this restaurant about once a week. But that will not happen again. There was a party of 4 that arrived a little before 5. We watched as other parties came in and we were totally ignored. We sat there waiting to be served for over 30 minutes. A party right came in after we had been waiting and a server started to take their order. They had been there for 2.5 minutes. I said something to the server and she said we were not one of her tables. I did not care. She said something to another server and she ignored her and went to the bar area. The star is for the service. Otherwise just not good diner food. My husband and I look for diners to go to because of the home style food and decor. We've been wanting to try Old Time for awhile but just never made it. Food tasted like grease. Ham, eggs, HB and even the toast just had a greasy taste. Husbands French Toast was not cooked well. Walmart brand syrup in the original container. I mean at least get refillable, washable clear bottles. My opinion however we won't be going back. The place needs a good deep clean. I ordered my food and was waiting for it while I was waiting all u heard was my server bitching about not making money and how she's so behind on her bills and how her grandchildren need stuff. When you walk into the 50s by diner, you really get excited and are hopeful. Service was really really slow and there was a table for 20 seated right next to us. The kitchen was rushed. Asked for a hamburger done medium rare and of course it came out petrified. Onion rings were good. French fries were soggy. Our waiter was really nice. And fountain Coke was good. I honestly love visiting this place when I'm in town. It's a small town 1960's diner. I love the nostalgic decor and music. The service was great and the food is good. Our server, Nicole, was no different. My mom ordered the fried fish, garden salad, cottage cheese, and hushpuppies. I had the meatloaf, with gravy, mashed potatoes and sliced tomatoes. My only issue was way too much gravy on the meatloaf, for me. Other than that, both meals were tasty and generous portions. The bathrooms are nice and clean. This is one of my favorite places to eat in Leesburg, Florida. read more

The food here was great. I had the all you can eat catfish on Friday. The two pieces that were served, was all I could eat. I ordered tomato slices and green beans for side dishes. The tomatoes were good, but the green beans were awesome. My wife had the grilled chicken wrap and fries. We want to go back k and try the seafood boil next. I've been a few times and have always been satisfied and left with a carryout box as their portions have always been hefty. Their waitresses have always been personable and kind, though one minor discomfort I experienced was the waitress cleaning our table while we were still eating/talking. A customer recommended the all you can eat catfish on Friday nights. I took my kids in about 7 pm and it was empty except maybe 2 other tables. First impression was that it was dirty and outdated. My kids got chicken tenders and fries. (Fries were good) I ordered the catfish with a side salad and cottage cheese. Everything was good except the fish. It was mushy and uncooked in the middle. Dirty silverware, sour tea, and dirty tables. We decided to pay for our drinks and leave, but the owner became confrontational with us. He started unwrapping all the silverware on the bar and showing us they were not dirty. (The ones we got at the table were clearly dirty) We kept asking could we just please pay for our drinks. Nasty, nasty, nasty. Went with a group of eight and we all were disappointed with our meals

First all the good things. Moved to Florida from the Midwest many years ago and the one thing I look forward to when I go back is a REAL pork tenderloin; not pork steak, cube steak, gristle, or fat but REAL loin. The OTD has the real thing ! Larger than a dinner plate, just like we used to get in college, shared by 2 to 4. Delicious. Served the real way, onion and mustard and pickle, with ketchup on the table to add if you wish. This a rare find in Florida believe me. The fries come with it, they were kind of soggy, not very hot, and this was surprising ! Based on the tenderloin, would have thought they would be the awesome home cut, state fair style and expected piping hot. Waitress was exactly what you hope to find in a home town diner. Super friendly, down to earth, caring. The unsettling part was all physical environment. The place is 50's 60's, muscle cars, Elvis, aqua, pink, the perfect after class hang out. But, although I am sure there is no smoking, the entire place smells of smoke, OLD smoke. The ceiling tiles are the very old style absorbent kind, and the black air vents every so often are absolutely filthy, mean really seriously dirty with dirt hanging out, off, etc. One near the middle of the room was broken and more than half was even falling out of the tiles with all kinds of dirt handing on it. There are plenty of windows across the front, but they too are absolutely filthy and old, blinds (which also had a smoke smell though no signs of smoking !) that should have been thrown out years ago. The outside impression is more like the kind of bar that no one wants to be able to see out or look in. This is a really strange situation as the food was good home town food and the retro idea fun. Menu is huge, all kinds of good things. Really hope this gets a good cleaning, window washing, new shades or curtains, and fresh paint and updates so it looks cleaner at least. read more

We ate there last night for our 53rd anniversary and it was a big mistake. My wife ordered a 10 oz. steak and guess what waitress came back and stated that they did not have any steak left of any kind and this was like 4:30 pm. The woman In next booth behind us wanted a hot dog, guess what, they were out of them too. At next table, woman ordered manicotti and you guess it, no manicotti. I came into Old Time Diner for lunch and I was disappointed at the least. I walked in to the warm welcome of a sign telling me to wait to be seated. I was not told the wait time until I asked, and I was told, "whenever someone gets up", with no estimated wait time. The customer service was AWFUL from the beginning. As I waited I let the people coming in know what I was told as nobody else was willing to help. I was finally seated at a table and given no menu. I had to walk to the front to get my own. I also noticed they hadn't cleaned very well. I waited a long time to order and a long time for my food. I ordered a chicken gyro and my sister ordered a hotdog which she was told came with onions and relish. When we finally got our food, my sister's hot dog had chili and mustard on it but my sister decided to just deal with it. The food tasted more like food truck food than anything and it was just as messy. The fries tasted like they were the kind you can buy frozen in a bag at Publix. I was not impressed. Then we noticed that the table next to us had a complaint and the chef/head cook had come out (dressed in a t-shirt & cargo shorts) and very abrasively talked to them. He was basically telling them they were wrong about not liking their food. They settled the dispute but I could tell he didn't leave his customers happy. Our waitress forgot things, was sloppy, and only talked to us while walking past us. She never even asked if we liked our food. We did hear in passing that she's used to working at upscale restaurants which I absolutely cannot believe. This is definitely not a place I want to go back to, but I might brave it out to see if their breakfast service is anything special in a couple weeks when they've been open for a while and things have settled down.
