The atmosphere was great. A lot goes on at the bar so it was very entertaining. I was chatting with the people around me as if I'd known them. That's refreshing while on a business trip alone. My food came out pretty quickly. Yum. Steak was seasoned well and cooked just right, medium rare. The potatoes were delicious and reminded me of the vegetables that are often served with a Sunday roast in Germany (I actually lived there for 25 years). A restaurant does not have to be 'upscale' to receive a high rating. I did take away a star for the salad. It was just ok, pre-made and kept in the fridge until time to serve it. The romaine edges were dry, as were the carrots. The dressing was fine and I did eat the whole salad. As a matter of fact, I cleaned my plate. The guy to the left of me asked me if I was gonna post the empty plate on YELP with my review. Great idea. It turns out that the man was Ford Swanson Jr., the owner. I had no idea and I told him that. His response was, "I didn't want you to know." I guess he wanted to see if I really liked my food. Anyway, I don't even know if he looks at his YELP reviews or not but if he does, "Thanks McBride Steakhouse for treating me to a delightful evening!"
