Angela is an amazing artist! I was referred to her by a Facebook friend and her husband who have numerous pieces done by her. I have two fairly large pieces, on each inner forearm and ppl literally stop me while walking in stores and parking lots to get a closer look and then ask who did them and proceed to write down her contact info. Angela will collaborate and create with you to be certain you'll love your ink. She was also able to fix a tattoo i had and wasn't thrilled with done by someone else. Now i love that one too! I never really considered having a sleeve, but I love her work so much, I'm gonna go for it! She's a phenomenal artist AND she's a super wonderful person. read more

Great prices, amazing artists...oh yeah, and ghosts!!! Yes, this is the same place seen on numerous haunt shows, but it's also my pick for the best shop in Chicago. I'm sure there's a certain "creep factor" that draws its fair-share of clientele, but once you get work done you'll soon realize why they come back. It has a barber-shop atmosphere - very welcoming, shoot-the-sh#t conversation and and just a really fun place to be. Hollywood has been my artist of choice for 2+ years with over 40 hours of work put in - that trust factor speaks louder than any adjective I could use to describe him. Overall, if you're looking for a place that won't make you feel out of place or rushed, a shop that takes a genuine interest in what is to become a "lifetime" decision, then definitely put OT on your short list of places to check out. I kinda want to give it 4.5, as when I walked in, I didn't feel the love. Though mostly empty, it took a bit to figure out who was next up. I felt a little unwanted. BUT That all changed. This was my seventh tattoo overall, my second at Old Town. The artist was awesome, the design he made was perfect. I wanted what I wanted, but I also wanted something he would want to create. The amount of time and detail put into the piece was amazing. During the 90 minutes of the actual work being done, he asked me often if I was ok. I was fine, but it was appreciated to be asked. The post instructions I was given were precise and to the point. Here I am, not even two weeks later, and almost completely healed. I also appreciate that they offer one free touch up - great work to begin with, but they stand by it. I'll be back, for sure. Old Town will now be my go-to. read more

I just got my first tattoo here. Wonderful place. The interior is quirky and entertaining. The ghost factor was def a draw. I'd phoned the day before and Britaini was incredibly receptive. She did an amazing job fixing up the image off a poster I wanted. The tattoo process was great. I admit, I fainted in the middle (wimp, I know) but she quickly got me soda and a snack and made sure I was all on board before she continued. The piece looks wonderful, just what I had in mind. After a bad experience at Tattoo Factory, we called Old Town. They were very friendly and welcomed us. I had been there many times since the location opened. But, this time there was a new guy who failed to show me the outline before applying it to my foot. I was so frazzled by the prior experience at Tatt F**Ktory, that I didn't catch it. When it was applied, we aggreed the position was good and he started the ink. Keep in mind I was viewing upside down! It wasn't until I got home, and took a picture of it(and saw it rightside up for the first time) and realized he transposed two characters. I almost had a stroke! The shop seems different since the days of Odin. I would suggest to the staff that they train the newbies on their process so they don't become overwhelmed and miss a step. He initally forgot to cover the foot pad for sanitary reasons, then almost forgot about the paperwork. Obviously he forgot to present the outline next to the artwork I brought in to see if it was ok with me. Don't ask me when I'm looking at it upside down. Normally, i would've caught it. But, I was put-off by what happened at Tattoo Factory and didn't. Also, he completely forgot to return my reference material to me from the back room. I had to go back and ask for it, otherwise I would have gone home without it! There wasn't one other person hanging around to supervise. Don't allow an artist on the floor, if they're not up on how things work at the shop. Maybe they can ink, but one missed step and it can result in this. I understand all the disclaimers..."Its your responsibility to know how to spell your baby mama's name. So, if its wrong, its not our prob...or whatever." But, the artist usually presents the work before moving on to positioning. That's how its been every other place I've gone. The guy obviously missed that step and now I'm upset my memorial tatt is whack. I had one bad night. I plan on lasering the error and having it redone next year SOMEWHERE ELSE. Until then, everytime I look down, I cringe. read more

I attended the fundraiser they had this past Saturday, and got my ink done by Brittany. I have had other work here (4 other tats) and have always had a great experience. Saturday was no different! It has been a while since I had them do any of my work, but let me tell you, I was super impressed by the way they changed the design of the shop. It is much more inviting. In addition, I am also thrilled that they have Brittany working as on of their artists. She completed my sketch for me during the week, and I really wanted her to do the actual work on Saturday. Nick had no problem making that happen. Brittany is extremely talented, and very friendly. I wanted a pair of lilies, and not only did she do just that, she exceeded my expectations tenfold! It turned out so much more beautiful than I could have even imagined! The level of detail she incorporated into this tat was amazing for only taking an hour to do the tat! I will be returning here to have her do more of my work. And I will definitely be back there to have them work on my Marilyn Monroe portrait. If you are looking for a clean, and efficient shop, Old Town is the place. The staff is very friendly, and they have a good mix of artists. Kudos to Old Town!! read more

I had a great experience at Old Town Tatu! The place is very clean and professional. A friend of mine referred me to Britaini Albin and I am so happy with my tattoo! I e-mailed her a drawing I wanted, she was very quick to get back to me with dates, times, price estimates, etc. She was able to make some tiny changes/modifications to the original drawing I wanted and added some shading to it as well. Her pricing was more than reasonable which of course made me extra happy with it. She's done a bunch of original pieces on my friend too, all look amazing. I just had a tattoo done by Polly over the weekend and she did an excellent job!! I stopped in just to check the place out and maybe talk to an artist about a new tat I had been thinking about. I met Polly and she made me feel comfortable right away. We talked about what I wanted and she put it together. I had been wanting this tattoo for a while and she had the time, so next thing I know I'm in the chair. Polly put together the tat I wanted, but I also let her do her own thing by adding her own touch. She nailed it on the head and I appreciate an artists touch. The time I spent at the shop was also a comfortable experience. The shop is amazing and I loved the decor . I've been to other shops and find most to be uncomfortable. My first experience with Old Town was in early 2010. My bf had several tattoos done by Chango, and from the quality of his ink, I knew I wanted my first tattoo done by him also. It was a great day - Chango spent a lot of time helping me figure out the colors and shading. I love it and will definitely be going back for more. Since then, he has done 3 more tattoos on the bf, 3 on my 19 year old (we had him free-hand a Japanese cherry blossom around her ankle and it is spectacular!) and 1 on my 18 year old. Polly also tattooed my older daughter, working up a beautiful bonsai tree drawing in about 15 minutes. My bf and I have recommended OTT to many friends, and they have all been very happy with their experience. We will be back again and again!! read more

This place has good talented artists that offer their services in a clean environment. The only thing is that some of the artists may overcharge you for some simple black ink work that takes less than 30 minutes to do that any newbie or somewhat experienced apprentice can do. There are shops on the same street that are in walking distance from this place that are better. read more

This is an old school throwback. The owner takes pride in his shop and makes sure it is done right. I had Paul tattoo me and it was prolly one of the most gentle tattoos I've ever had. The tattoo I received was satisfactory, however the tattoo artist's ethics where questionable. When I payed for my tattoo I payed 3/4 of it in cash, and 1/4 of it using my card... The tattoo artist charged the full amount onto my card and kept the cash, even after I explained to her several times beforehand how I wish to be charged... she still claimed it was a mistake after I confronted the owner about the problem. read more

ive gotten 2 tattoos done there. after barely even 9 months, my tattoos needed to be redone. my neck tattoo was nothing of what i wanted and the original artist that did it messed up so bad that i had to make it bigger in order to fix it. which is NOT what i wanted. on top of that, the guy who fixed the neck tat (which is now spidering) and my ankle was an apprentice at the time! no one let me know that and i did not ok that! no wonder my tattoos are so messed up! i got butchered and paid too much money for it. they lost a customer for life. read more
