Getting approval for our loan and the company's preparation of closing documents took an enormous amount of time! Finally we signed on the last day of our Real Estate Purchase Contract Agreement, but it turned out documents had been prepared with the wrong closing date, making all documents invalid. Thanks to our Realtor going to bat for us, the documents were redrawn and we did close but with only minutes to spare! Overall, we found the loan process frustrating but figured ours was probably an exception and not the rule. When our daughter and her husband wanted to refinance their home recently, we recommended they work with a local lender. Because of his reputation, we recommended they talk with Shane. A few frustrations were encountered by them as well. FIMC didn't lock her in on the first day, even though they had said YES to the loan, so by the time they did the lock a few days later, the rate had increased. The "loan file" changed hands multiple times and as a result she was asked to submit the same documentation multiple times because of it. (We also had that same type of experience with our loan!) Days would go by without her questions via email being answered or getting a response to messages left by phone. Within a month after contacting First Security Bank loan department and a hassle-free experience, their loan was approved and they got the type of financing they desired. I commend Shane for contacting me regarding my review and wanting to set things right. Maybe our experiences were just difficult cases beyond their control. I guess time will tell.

It was a horrible experience, and no one on the team seemed to know what they were doing. Updates via email were non-informative; just the same contact information, agent photos and legal disclaimers. Then the icing on the cake was getting their demand for sensitive identity information and ID photocopies only hours before close. They had me over a barrel and I could either submit the information over unsecured email or risk being in breach of contract. I understand statutory requirements, but nothing explains why this required info was demanded at the 11th hour, or why it wasn't provided with the rest of the documents. My close was at risk, I couldn't sleep, and the sad thing is that it all could have been avoided if Rainier just did their job. Feel free to use these guys if you like drama and surprises. For me, I will write into my future deals not to use Rainier to handle title.

Once, I was asked five additional questions. The one that was way over the top was, "If I worked". No lie! I am only asked these additional questions if I am withdrawing over $500. The camera was broken on the screen, and the teller wanted me to do the chicken dance with my neck because she couldn't see my face. Another time, a teller said, "Will you please look at me?" I asked a teller, why am I always being scrutinized, "its for your protection." The Everett location has some of the most biased and racist drive-thru tellers, and after filing complaints to corporate, corporate isn't much better. If your skin is brown, good luck.

I switched over from full-retail banking about 20 years ago. I've had savings, checking, and 4 car loans through BECU now. I've always had a great experience from beginning to end with everything I've used. Car loans They have lower fees, typically much lower, and always get the best available rate. The online experience is very straightforward--even 15 years after paying off the first one, I can still the records when I log in. You can make payments as early and often as you want, and they just automatically deduct what's due from your checking each month. Unless you're wealthy enough to pay cash, it won't get much easier. Checking/savings/Zelle You can orchestrate pretty much any transaction on these accounts from the web or from the mobile app. The website has gotten really strong over the years--easy to set up a debit card, easy to do anything. I noticed a bug in one transaction type about 12 years ago, emailed them, and it was fixed within a day. (They didn't let you pay your line of credit to zero online, but only for a couple days). Onsite services I've always enjoyed each meeting for car loans, and teller service has always been pleasant and efficient. They really do seem to hire people who are pleasant, and I've never stumped them with any question. They're trained well, too. They even have a coin conversion machine in the outer lobby, which you can use even outside of business hours. You can get multiple types of gift certificate or other stipends out of it. I've needed that only once in 20 years, but it was such a convenience when I did. I really appreciate the pleasant people, low costs/fees, and high functionality with BECU.
