The best handmade chips and pickles I've had. Their sandwiches are so good and filling!

The OWD re-opened after New Years Eve, after nearly a year of remodeling. I got my first sandwich, a Mighty Meaty, always my go-to under the old management, on New Years Day. It was excellent! They took the old menu, but upgraded all the ingredients, in-house smoked meats, locally sourced bread and other ingredients, etc. Prices are still inline with what they used to be, but the value is great, because the quality is so high. There are new items on the menu, like a pulled-pork sandwich that looks amazing, and a breakfast menu and an espresso bar. Despite all the renovations (new kitchen, new stage/sound system, new bar, new espresso bar), the space still retains its' distinct character. In my opinion, the new Old World should still appeal to the people who loved the old incarnation, and will bring in new fans for the great food and value. read more

Came here for lunch on 12/15/23. Had the meatloaf sandwich and a cup of clam chowder. The sandwich came with a generous helping of their homemade potato chips, and there wasn't a single part of this lunch I DIDN'T like! Delicious! I'll definitely be back on my next trip through! read more

Wife got the pulled pork sandwich and I got the Mediterranean. Both fantastic and filling with what appears to be homemade chips and pickles. Daughter shared both of our sandwiches. We all loved them. Beer from Oregon trail also better than expected. Used to come here as an OSU student 20+ years ago and still great. read more

Happy vibe, helpful efficient staff and worth the wait on busy Saturday afternoon. French Dip with au jus hit the mark. Hand made chips?! -- yum. Garden salad was ample and perfectly prepared-- lettuces in prime condition, halved cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, house-made croutons and dressing. chef was extremely rude and bad tempered when meeting me for an interview attempting to aquire a position to work, yells at customers and disrespects the business. I would recommend not working here, especially if you would be an amazing worker, I called and they said I could meet with chef before 11 and that they confirmed it, when I came they didn't know I was coming for a confirmed Interview and raised their voice without manners for dropping off a resumé days prior during "rush hour" which is okay but doesn't validate disrespecting people, Chef said it's an automatic no, since a resume was dropped off during rush hour, extremely rude and disrespectful, old world deli? Great sandwiches, great ambience, and seating is very different from any restaurant I've been in before. Food is good for the price and the employees are great. If you like your food slapped in between two pieces of bread, this place won't let you down. read more

The food tasted great, but we had a subpar experience with their customer service. The lady at the register was very friendly and took our order. We politely explained that our young son is extremely picky and will only eat bread, meat and cheese - so we ordered a plain sandwich for him. When the food was brought out his sandwich had the works (veggies, condiments, etc.) I have worked in food service, so I always try to be extra polite when there is an issue. I took his sandwich back to the counter and explained nicely that we had ordered the sandwich plain. The lady I spoke with was RUDE and gave me the biggest attitude, saying snarkily "that not what the ticket said". I think I apologized for the confusion (which I really shouldn't have done because the error was not mine,) but assured he we ordered it that way. She huffed and puffed as she remade it for us. It was a very unpleasant experience. The food was NOT cheap, so I high expectation. I was very dissatisfied with their customer service. read more

If I were going to sum this place up it would be a meme of Randy Jackson saying "That's a no for me dawg." Some of the worst biscuits and gravy I have ever had and the staff was incredibly unhelpful. I was hopeful since it's right next to the hotel, but there's no chance I'll be back. read more

I've walked by this place a dozen times and have always kInda felt the character coming off the building. It gives vibes like those of a grandfather trying to give you advice. Anyways, I decided to pick up dinner here one night. I walked in and was immediately confused as I saw a large crowd of people watching a live stream of a democratic debate. It was nice to see a politically active event held here. I ended up ordering a tuna salad sandwich on French bread with a brownie. I definitely did not deserve a brownie, but they just have fresh trays sitting near the register (it's a trap). The employees were kind and amused my questions. The sandwich was good. Nothing amazing, but the texture and balance of a simple sandwich was there. No overload of veggies/sauce, I didn't have to struggle to eat it. Although I will say it's above your average sandwich size. Now on to the real importance. The brownie. It was wonderful. The array of mini chocolate chips weathered across the top were melted to perfection through radiation (a microwave). read more

Don't be put off by first impressions here. I nearly didn't make it all the way in the door, but I'm really glad I did. Call the interior decor "eclectic". The food is very fresh and well prepared. Staff are super friendly. The value is undeniable: she had the largest green salad I've ever seen, and it was around five bucks, I had a huge roast beef sandwich, and the total tab was under $15. Best brownies in the world. You see the sign outside and you kind of question, is this like the movie Elf and "The World's Best Cup of Coffee." It's not. Old World Deli in Corvallis, Oregon has the best brownies in the world. True story. Old World Deli is a hidden gem on 2nd Street. Many people get lost in the hub of 2nd Street with American Dream Pizza and New Morning Bakery, but the fact that Old World is sort of hidden adds to the charm of the place. The first time I went into Old World Deli, I took my two nieces for the brownies. I have never seen two kiddos look that excited for chocolate. I honestly believe that part of the reason I love Old World Deli is because the atmosphere has a European feel. When you step through the doors, you're no longer experiencing the orange-centered Beaver Nation, but are able to experience a world outside of Corvallis. This is something I personally enjoy when school gets a bit tough. I would highly recommend a little brownie therapy for people in the area who need it. read more

This is the second time I've been here because the sandwiches here are fresh and delicious. Upon waiting in line to order my sandwich an elderly gentleman in front of me said to the cashier, "I don't want to order anything else but I just want to tell you that you guys make the BEST sandwiches!" I thought that was really nice. The place has a quiet atmosphere so I felt the need to be quiet as well. It was also weird because I was about 30-40 years younger than everyone else there so I felt kind of out of place. But the food! I got a half sandwich and if this is a half sandwich what the heck is a whole sandwich? (see picture) The best part about Old World Deli is actually after I've already left Old World. I was sitting outside Francescos Gelato, sharing a gelato with my boyfriend and two older gentlemen walk up to us and say, "Hey, weren't you guys just at Old World Deli?" We don't really recognize the gentlemen but we give a hesitated yes. And the gentlemen were really nice and told us we just HAVEE to go back to Old World and have drinks with them. We made an impromptu stop in at OWD to see what it was all about post-covid and under new management. First, we were pleased that we could actually get a sandwich and a beer and not feel like we were taking a huge financial hit, which is rare in Corvallis. We don't go out much because it's just out of reach for our budget. Anyway, shared a basic turkey sandwich with pepper jack. Were pleased that there was a Celtic music jam session going on. DH had a beer on tap and I had tea, loose leaf English Breakfast with a strainer and extra water, nice and hot. Nice touch. They also have an espresso bar that I may go back and try. Food came in reasonable time and was ample. Delicious although slightly on the dry side, but I prefer that to overly mayoed. Loved the sides of homemade chips and fresh pickle. Would like to try some of the other sandwiches and fare (I saw quiche in the deli case). They had a fair selection of microbrews on tap & DH really liked his. Wish their own beers were available, but they are coming soon we are told. read more

Old World Deli and Pub is so much more than the name implies. The food is amazing. They smoke their own meets onsite. They go to the local farmers market for fresh produce and vegetables. Everything that I have tried is excellent. There is a lot of creativity and pride in what they make. The prices are very reasonable. They have live music on the weekends set in a very interesting setting. They brew their own beer and have many other craft beers on tap all at a reasonable price. read more

As I look at all the great reviews I see for this restaurant, I'm amazed that I found it to be horrible. I've never eaten there, and I won't ever eat there again. I ordered a "Mighty Meaty" and was handed a large playing card with the Queen of Diamonds on one side. OK, I don't know what that is for, but I figured since I ordered to food to go, I would show that when it was ready? As I waited, I noticed a man making the sandwiches, not wearing plastic gloves while putting the sandwich together, all while wiping his nose with hands, touching everything not related to making the sandwich, and looking, quite honestly, like he just got up from a long nap. The sandwich was missing the avocado, turkey was dry, and the ham was dry and dark around the edges, another words, last week's ham. Then the icing on the cake was when "the Chef" chided me for not presenting the playing card according to his Old World way of doing things. So one more "restaurant" in the food desert that is Corvallis I add to my list. read more

When you're craving a real sandwich and not a sub, this is your place. The sandwiches are always great and they are big. Not that into the enchiladas. I'd stick with the sandwiches. We've been patiently waiting all year for our favorite lunch spot to reopen with Chef JD helming the kitchen. It's hard to overstate how blow away we are!! The menu is much the same but the quality is off the charts! not To mention the prices. I feel like I got a $20 pull pork sandwich for half the price. I finished my sandwich from here less than 2 minutes ago and am already Yelping about it. Granted, I am passing through town and what I wanted was a half-sandwich less than a block from my hotel. Ideally, I'd like it made with care, but was willing to just eat a chain restaurant's sandwich for my late lunch. But this place was literally across the street from my hotel and offered me a "half sandwich" (normal people would call it a full sandwich) + soup + homemade brownie for all under $15. Still open for dine in! Great sandwiches and big open space inside that makes it easy to space out. Some tables have plastic partitions to add more safety as well.
