This location was a train station until the 70s. A train still passes by the restaurant. The decor is cute. There are train items throughout the place. We visited at lunch time on a weekday. The dining area was busy. Our server was also helping with to go orders. The menu is varied. The bar looks like a fun place to visit. There is also a private room for parties. I had the black bean burger. It was good without bring great. I didn't pay attention to peppers bring in the burger or I would have requested that they be left off. The pieces were large enough that I was able to remove them. The cucumber dill sauce was good. The fries were decent. My guest had the chicken salad. She asked for salmon instead of chicken. She really enjoyed it. The server didn't mention that there was an $8 charge for the substitution. It would have been nice to have been informed. The poppy seed dressing was good. There were gaps in service since our server was over worked. I asked for help from others when I needed it. This is a popular location. Plan accordingly. read more

My wife and I have patronized this restaurant for many years and enjoyed it. Today, January 2nd 2026 was different. The menu has changed with entrees and sides we liked no longer available and price increase. Today we got ribs which were terrible and unedible. Although we spoke with management there wasn't a price adjustment (over $57!). The menu clearly states with entrees "bread available on request", only to be told it's now for parties of four or more (???). So if I sit at one table and wife at another we each can get bread, otherwise it's $1/extra. The mac & cheese we've had better from a mix, sweet potato casserole mostly bread. It just wasn't good at all and we don't know if we'll ever be back which is unfortunate. read more

I honestly don't get the hype over this place. I've been maybe 10 times and tried many different things trying to find a winner, but have yet to get anything that was really good. We go because the drive to Bedford is pleasant and there are a couple of things my husband likes. The last time I ordered a Caesar salad and the stuffed shells. The salad had too much dressing which had a bitter quality and tasted like it came from a vat delivered by Sysco. The sauce on the shells was sweet, not slightly sweet, but very sweet and the cheese on the inside was not cheesy. The bread they bring to the table is OK, but they always have a different flavored "butter" that leaves a film on the roof of your mouth. The onion rings cost $10 and consisted of 5 rings and were mostly coating with one sliver of onion. The rings are served with a very sweet honey mustard dipping sauce. The best things I've gotten here are the baked potato and creamed spinach. The next time we visit, that's what I'll get. read more

I have given this place multiple tries but I keep leaving disappointed. I do really like the crab dip. Last Saturday I ordered the chicken panini. The staff was fast courteous and friendly with plenty of suggestions. The building was once an old train station and it has been beautifully restored. Even thought the place was crowded for lunch it wasn't overly noisy. As for the food I can only speak to one dish, because it was why we drove here to eat. The chopped steak w/pepper and onions was probably the best one I have ever eaten. I had the gravy on the side. I enjoyed my visit and will definitely go back to try more of their dishes. read more

I came down to this restaurant expecting it to be pretty mediocre, but I was blown away by the amazing food in the small town. Olde Liberty is an old train station turned restaurant serving modern American dishes. Their Carolina and Station burgers were excellent, the patties held a lot of flavor and the accessories on the burger were great. I was a huge fan of the bread, three types baked in one small dish - it was warm and soft, very delicious! The station itself is nice and clean, it's got a great atmosphere! read more

We stopped here based on reviews and were super disappointed that we did. The burger was fine but luke warm, fries were cold (how does that even happen?), creamed spinach cold, twice baked potato was cold and definitely boxed, chopped steak was tasteless, and the icing on the cake... horrible service.... Just a bad experience. It was as though the food was microwaved without following the directions on the box Server dropped food on the table and didn't return to check on us until bringing the check. Perhaps it was just an off night for this place... hoping that's the case. We won't be back to find out. Blah read more

Fun restaurant in an old train station that presents a fun atmosphere and vibe. I had the filet mignon, twice baked potato, and the corn pudding (a side--similar to creamed corn). The meal also came with roasted red pepper gouda soup and a home baked bread crock. It was all nicely prepared and presented--and delicious. I think the Olde Liberty Station is well-worth the visit if you find yourself in this small Virginia town. read more

First visit for our anniversary dinner. We've lived in Bedford nearly 6 years and haven't dined in. Won't miss out on this place again. While the wine list is short, it stands up to my rather particular standards. Nobilo was great prior to dinner, Firestone was great with dinner. My husband RAVED about the margaritas, which he loves when made well. Bread and almond butter opened us up for the meal, both great. The prime ribs where good. My husband loved his, I felt like it may have been cooked too low and slow as the outside wasn't crusted and tender, but I understand that in a restaurant. Husband raved about mushrooms as well, I too enjoyed. I'll probably order double creamed spinach next time. It was smooth, creamy, delectable and beyond perfect. Certainly would have ordered dessert like we planned, but simply couldn't put away all the food and got a to go box. read more

Our first visit was on a Friday night, we were greeted and shown to our table immediately. My wife had Prime Rib and I had the catfish. Both meals were well sized and delicious. Cheesecake dessert was fantastic, it was a great night and highly recommend this restaurant read more

We were passing through Bedford after visiting the Peaks of Otter and it was about 2:30 pm, so I was beyond ready for my first meal of the day. I had bookmarked Olde Liberty Station ahead of the trip, and I knew what I planned to order walking in the door. We were greeted promptly at the fancy train-station host booth and shown to a table next to a mannequin that looked very real at first glance. Our server was super-super friendly and sweet. She brought us cokes to start and then we ordered the pimento cheese bites. They were good and gooey, though probably too big of a portion (first world problems). For my meal, I ordered the turkey ciabatta, which came with bacon and cranberry cream cheese. For my side, I upgraded to a caesar. I thought it'd be on the side of the plate, but it actually came out with the cheese bites and was rather hefty. I easily could've made that my meal, as I filled up quickly and even the server noticed I didn't come close to finishing my sandwich! My mom ordered the crab cake sandwich with fries and said it was one of the better crab cakes she's had in a while -- and definitely one of the best in Virginia. Not much filler. The crowd definitely leans older. I'm pretty sure I was the youngest there. I think that's a side effect of the town itself though. Everyone seemed like they knew each other. The manager came over at the end of the meal to check how we liked everything, which was a nice touch. I'd definitely return if I find myself hungry and passing through Bedford in the future. read more

It had been several years since we had dinner at Olde Liberty Station, so we decided to head east on 460 one Saturday evening. The wait was not long, the service was good, and our meals were very good. I had the raspberry salad, and my husband had the ribs. The salad was huge, the romaine was crisp and all the other ingredients were very good. My husband had the full rack of ribs and said they were some of the best ribs he's ever had. We arrived here on perhaps one of their busiest days of the year - after Liberty University's commencement. The wait was worth it!! The staff were kind, courteous, and attentive! My water glass never got empty. The food was excellent. My party of 8 had quite a variety of menu items and no one was disappointed. This is my second time here, my initial complaint is more a compliment. The parking lot is packed and I am waiting for people to leave before I can go inside to look at the menu. Now that I'm inside, the menu has options, from steak to butternut squash ravioli in cream sauce. The options look promising. Seating is offered inside and out. When the food arrived, the ravioli was spot on. The cream sauce had the possibility of being too sweet, but it was not. The side is sautéed mushrooms fit well into the plate. My wife moved the steak and potato and it's side of broccoli. I will come back! For the lower cost meal I'm going to give this 5 stars. It hit the spot! read more

If our service was better this place would've easily gotten 5 stars. The food was DELICIOUS and the ambiance was so cute! They have a lot of different rooms and a cute little porch. We sat on the porch. We all enjoyed our food. We got the blt with fried gree tomatoes, chicken salad sandwich, and the rueben. The dip they served with chips was a 10/10. We wanted the recipe! Unfortunately our waitress wasn't very nice. Anytime we asked for something she gave us a stank face and she never came to check on us.
