As soon as I…read morewalked in through the door I felt as though I were five years old again, walking into my first penny candy store. I found myself surrounded with sights and sounds that brought out my inner sugar crazed youth; it even made me giddy with excitement. I love the sounds of a sno-cone being made! The walls are covered with shelves of every sugary delight you can imagine. There is such a wide variety and assortment of different flavors; everyone is sure to find something to satisfy their cravings. I'm especially a big fan of the Jelly Belly jelly bean display that awaits my next visit. There's an assortment of truffles and other chocolates found in a glass case behind the cash register. I would've tried them all however, I was afraid I would gain 50 pounds before even walking out the door. The artwork on the wall adds to the flair of this candy shop. I almost forgot to mention the ice cream case. With a wide variety of flavors everyone is sure to find something that will appeal to their sweet tooth. If you're not in the mood for a cone, they offer a prefix case of ice cream. They even have fresh store made candy and caramel apples. I'm going back for the frozen chocolate banana. They even have sugar-free options available in the ice cream and chocolates. This is going to be a place I've got to frequent more often. Oh, and one of my personal favorites the 3 foot pixi stix! I'm certain, as this business grows so will the selection to tempt my taste buds!

It's like a little slice of Willy Wonka in the Annapolis Mall. Emphasis on "LITTLE" store, though. While it's not a kiosk, it's quite narrow in parts. It can make navigating tricky, especially if there are more than a handful of customers in there. Still, the décor is wall-to-wall candy, mostly self-service by-the-pound options. The great thing about this setup is you get to pick what YOU like. And there is a great variety to satisfy most sweet tooths! The price... it is what it is. While I won't say it's prohibitively expensive, it's not "in-expensive." They have a rewards program, though, and my kid did get a free rock candy stick because of it. Maybe not the best value, but I will say that a lot of their items are a bit boutique. That's not a complaint, just an observation. They also have a decent selection of unique and fun beverages, such as "Duff Beer" and Aggretsuko energy drinks. A variety of ramune "marble" beverages, too, flavors I'd never seen in person before! It's a nice sweet distraction or destination in the otherwise cookie cutter Mall. We love stopping in here every time we're in the vicinity. If nothing else, the nostalgic feels alone are worth the visit!

So glad they still had an impressively wide selection at the end of the festival as many venders ran out. The Giant Peanut Butter Cup is very decadent with rich dark chocolate and creamy peanut butter. Just a couple of bites was more than satisfying and paced myself and able to devour the cup over a few days. The Dark Chocolate Covered Mint Oreo was delicious and my pick over the Dark Chocolate Covered Oreo, which didn't taste that different from a normal Oreo. Of the truffles, the Raspberry and Dark Chocolate Ganache were my favorites. The Hazelnut truffle was fun to try and reminded me of a Ferraro Rocher hazelnut truffles. I miss seeing Capital Candy Jar at the farmer's markets as many have shut down and excited to see them at more festivals and events post pandemic. Looking forward to seeing them again and coming back for more delicious sweet treats!

That being said, I had a really great experience here the other day! I bought some gifts for my family and loved the selection. Lots of unique candies, Washington landmark Oreos, political party Oreos, ice cream and more. I snagged a few things to send my family for Christmas and can't wait for them to receive them!
