I came here awhile back because my psoriasis is so bad and I finally found a doctor who would take my insurance. I was so excited because I had looked around for a Dermatologist for so long and when I called the receptionist was so kind. The wait wasn't very long to get me into a room. The assistant was insanely creepy and kept giving me weird vibes. Doctor finally came in and didn't even make eye contact. She entered everything into her iPad as I had told her my symptoms. She quickly offered me 2 medications and then left the room. I heard her mutter under her breath to the assistant insisting he tell me not to get pregnant because the medication doesn't mix well with pregnancy. He told me, "don't get pregnant" I said, well that won't happen as my husband had a Vasectomy and he said "well if you you cheat, use a condom" Are you serious? The receptionist is kind. However, the dermatologist is not good at all. She barely examined my daughter's skin, and wanted to constantly put her on antibiotics. The last follow up, I mean "A reason to collect insurance money", She didn't look at her at all. She has a terrible bedside manner, and made us both uncomfortable every time we were there. No matter how desperate you are for a dermatologist, do not, for any reason go and see this woman. She shouldn't be allowed to treat ANYBODY!! I know that Doctors are human and they make mistakes, and I allow space for that when they are compassionate and own their mistakes. This woman is not like this. If I could describe Dr. Oldenkamp's practice in one word, it would be "apathetic". If I could choose a second, it'd be "incompetent". This woman simply does not care about her patients, period. I went to her because I had several new, rather scary-looking moles pop up out of nowhere. Since I'm fair-skinned and melanoma runs in the family, I wanted a biopsy on these new moles as well as have some of them removed. It's a simple outpatient procedure. No big deal, right? Yeah, about that... After waiting thirty minutes for her to come into the exam room, she spent only ten seconds, TEN SECONDS (I counted), looking over my entire body only to coldly say "nothing's wrong with you". Mind you, I have at least a hundred moles all over me, so there's no way she could have scrutinized them all. She also gave offhand remarks as she glanced me over, such as "You have keratosis pilaris" and "this is seborrheic keratosis" in this cold, haughty tone. I asked her, how can I treat it? She didn't even look up at me as she said that she wasn't going to, because that's not what I made my appointment with her for. Then she just walked out of the room and I never saw her again, a passing assistant asked why I was still here, apparently her whirling around without a word was meant to be my cue to leave. Wow. Just...just, wow. She didn't even explain to me what those things she said are, I had to google them when I got home. I have never met with such a rude, lazy doctor in all my life! Her bedside manner is downright grotesque, she doesn't provide even halfway decent care, and she never explains anything. I don't know what to do. There's no other dermatologist in the entire county that accepts WA apple care, but I simply can't go back to her again. I'd sooner trust medical advice from a wild chimp! Absolutely AWFUL experience. My husband had an appointment with Oldenkamp 3 weeks ago and was waiting to see if his mole was cancerous. I called every day for the last 2 weeks and he ended up finding out from the sister clinic in Cle Elum what the results were. We still don't have the results from Oldenkamp. EXTREMELY unprofessional and I would NEVER recommend her. It's worth the drive to the west side to see someone who is competent. read more

The only reason I'm giving two stars is because the receptionist was very nice & personable. Otherwise I'd give 1 star. Dr O listened to nothing that i said. I was a first time patient with a family history of melanoma (dr spent literally 2 minutes looking me over), prescribed antibiotics that I've taken off and on for a year with a different dr - i was sent to dr o because i need surgery to remove a tract issue since antibiotics aren't working, AND prescribed hydrocortisone for my face which is a HUGE no no in the dermatology world. I have been suffering from traumatizing acne, with no exemption towards my quality of life since my last few months of my decorated Naval service. Switching from Tri-Care to WA State Health Insurance was among many of the stresses transferring from Active-Duty to civilian life, and+ luckily enough I was paired with a wonderful primary care provider through QLiiance. My comfort in my health care was cut short thanks to this visit. Having no experience with acne, at the age of 26 my face has been overcome with scars due to lesions that develop and take months to heal. My last was about the size of a quarter and was initially small, with bulls-eye like features, which eventually turned into a BRIGHT GREEN LESION, hell on earth. Normally, I consider myself a confident woman, based on my intellect and skill. That has been compromised; despite all my efforts. HAVING BEEN TOLD PRIOR TO MY NAVAL SEPARATION, upon ONSET of lesions-not to 'pop' or extract my lesions-primarily emphasizing the 'Sick Call' Nurse's theory; that must have 'anxiety issues' which in turn resulted in my gaping lesions. That was NOVEMBER 2014.I made a point to only touch my lesions with treatment remedies or while washing my face, yet the consistently appear, open (even during sleep) and always take several weeks to heal. THAT WAS eight months ago. Not only does my skin seem to be deteriorating in small, scarred increments, I have been experiencing a variety of other symptoms random symptoms, including headaches, difficulty urinating, headaches and spontaneous rashes on my legs (accompanied by consistent weakness) Communicably, I have learned these symptoms, along with my skin-could possibly point to some form of kidney dysfunction. Having a history of kidney infection, and generally shitty bladder care (holding it until I could feel my legs, for months on end while working nights on an aircraft carrier-due to laziness and lack of female restroom accessibility). Today was the day, that I finally got my referral, I was counting down the minutes to my redemption, physically and sociologically. I had prepared a list of symptoms-only to be scoffed and insulted by this "healer". I had approximately 3-4 minutes to barely explain myself to Susan, who was very rude and condisendingly instructed me once again told to 'STOP PICKING MY FACE.' I DON'T WANT TO SCAR I LEARNED THAT LESSON 8 MONTHS AGO WHEN THIS AWFULNESS BEGAN! I feel my skin is in a stage deterioration and scarring, that is how I got to the the point of obtaining this referral, and at the cost of my happiness-so many days. I am substantially less scarred from previous outbreaks because of my knowledge learned from my trained and licensed Esthetician/Cosmetology background. Yes, I have some credentials. Four doctors and a ship's nurse treated me with a variety of topical and antibiotic acne remedies. Since November 2014, and nothing has worked.I have been miserable. I had an excellent experience at Dr Oldenkamp's office! It was my very first appointment and she took a look at several areas where I have different "weird" things that were concerning me. She also removed a couple ugly skin tags. She was nice and polite and even a little chatty. I had been somewhat put-off by other reviews here but my experience was terrific!! If there was a way to give negative stars I would! I was restricted by my insurance to her or a doctor in downtown Seattle, so Everett here I come. Never once did she greet me, nor at any point did she actually look at my skin. She did get me started on meds that worked, but needed constant blood draws to continue, rather than sending me to a local lab I had to make appointment at her office so she could bill more. On the initial interview when I described my condition and how embarrassing it was, that people would spot it and take an involuntary step away, her response was that I get over myself. I wish I could do 0 stars. Not only is the area known for drug addicts, domestic violence, and crime but she is the worst doctor I've ever had. Part of a Dr.'s job is to explain what they're doing!! My first visit I walk in and she says why are you here (so rude) I tell her and all she says it ok we're doing a biopsy and turns around and tries to walk out! I've never had one before and that sounds kinda serious so I ask her what is she going to do, she says she is going to take a piece of my skin out. This "Dr" was so incredibly rude and unprofessional. I've never felt so disrespected by a "medical professional". I went in for a full body skin check due to having abnormal moles, she walks in and says "why are you here" I was in disbelief. I explained that I'm here for a full body skin check, she spends less than 1 minute checking me over. Then points to a freckle on my chest and said she's going to biopsy that one. (Didn't even look at my backside) Never once explained what she was doing, didn't tell me when she was going to inject me and acted completely put out when I asked any questions. She is by far the worst Doctor I've ever experienced and I have no idea how she's still in practice. This women's office needs to be shut down. read more

Dr Oldenkamp and her staff have taken excellent care of me. I had a rather large growth on my shoulderblade for a long time. When it started getting bigger my MD recommended I have it checked by a dermatologist. This office gets it done!! Luckily not cancerous. The Dr. removed it in her office. I was awake for the procedure and her assistant and her made me laugh and did their best to keep me comfortable. I received 10 stitches. Being hard to see I didn't do the greatest with cleaning and bandaging and it became infected. The DR. was very helpful and offered to change the bandages for me until healed. I would recommend her and her staff to anyone looking for a professional experience. They know their stuff. read more

My experience at this doctor's office was the worst I had ever seen so far. The receptionist and the medical assistant were nice, but the doctor had no bedside manner. It felt she was there for a business rather than providing care and treatment. My mom had an appointment with Dr. Susan Oldenkamp today. First, the exam room didn't look like an exam room. There were no gloves. The medical assistant was nice but he didn't even check the vital signs-something you would assume they would do when you go to a doctor's office. Dr. Oldenkamp walked in with my mom records from her primary care provider, but she had not even looked at them. My mom was there for a scar on her breast. The doctor kept her distance at 2-3 feet and didn't even bother to look at the scar. She didn't even make eye contact for the 10 minutes we were there. she kept browsing through the records. Dr. Oldenkamp was reading the chart as we were sitting there and didn't even bother to find out what my mom PCP had done before, so she could provide a better and more appropriate treatment. Due to state medical insurance, I was referred to Dr. Oldenkamp and thus required to make the trek from Bellevue to Everett for an appointment where my chief complaint was mild adult acne (yes, acne. Something a PCP could usually manage). I was seen by her twice with good results on a topical regimen. Recently, my pharmacy reached out to the office to have an Rx refilled (a topical antibiotic lotion that I had been using regularly). Her office denied the refill with the goal of having me come all the way up to Everett again for yet another acne appointment. Mind you, I was barely examined during my visits. Face Makeup and all was kept on. The visits lasted no more than 5 minutes with the physician. It is clear she wanted to bill another visit, wasting my time and limited resources (gasoline is expensive these days!). I consider this very poor patient care and feel that the patient is not the priority at this practice, but rather, money. Luckily I will be receiving new insurance soon and will then find a dermatologist who not only has a more welcoming demeanor, but understands that it is inappropriate to prioritize money over patient care. If you have the opportunity to choose another dermatologist, I would highly suggest doing so (unfortunately, I did not have this luxury). read more

I've honestly never been to a worse doctor, & considering I've endured four years of recovery from a head-on collision, & seen more than my fair share of doctors, that's saying a LOT. B/c of my accident, I cannot work, so am on Medicaid/Apple Care. Folks? If your doctor refers you to Susan Oldenkamp, call them back & tell them you need a DIFFERENT referral. DO NOT GO TO THIS SO-CALLED DOCTOR, NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO. She was cold, rude, & had a very demeaning manner. I went in for a total, overall skin check, & she barely looked at me. She acted as if she didn't want to touch me. She made a cursory attempt at checking b/w the toes of my left foot, but never even looked at the skin on my right. I showed her a spot on my forehead that stayed red for months, my own GP said it was probably just a ruptured blood vessel, nothing to worry about, but I mentioned it anyway. With a one second glance, she said, "That's probably pre-cancerous." And without explanation, without asking my permission, she grabbed a canister of something & walked over to me, & started spraying my FACE with the stuff. I said, 'Ow! What are you doing?" And she said, "Freezing this off." Folks, there was NOTHING to freeze 'off'. I ended up with TWO separate scars on my face b/c her apparently bad 'aim' created two sores from the freezing. She did the same thing to a mark on the skin to my upper arm, no real exam, no explanation, just grabbed the cannister & started spraying me with it! She left TWO SEPARATE BURNS ON MY ARM, where there was only a single skin irritation to begin with. I was so taken aback, I had no idea what to do, I'd never been to a dermatologist, wasn't sure what the protocol was, & I think I was in SHOCK. I'd earlier asked her about two moles on my back, stating they were being rubbed, bothered by my bra, & she had me stand up, face away from her, saying she was going to take a look at my back --& then proceeded to burn those, too! I tried to wriggle away & said, 'OUCH!' But really, I was in such a state of shock, I had no other words. For some reason, I just plowed ahead, trying to act as if this might be normal. This entire episode (supposedly a total, first time, yearly check, plus 'examination' & removal of FOUR 'pre-cancerous' areas -- three of which my GP had stated were fine) took less than 10 minutes. In fact, b/c I had to wait to get into the restroom after my 'exam', I saw her walk in/out of 2 examination rooms during the 10 minutes I waited & as I was walking out of the bathroom, yet another. This woman needs to have her license revoked, & I'll be making a report to hopefully speed that process ASAP. DO NOT GO! read more

Worst experience at any medical practice in my life. I went in to have some skin tags looked at on my chest and under my breast. She barely spoke two words to me she told me to turn around and looked at my back then I turned around and she looked at my chest for a minute and said Oh those are just Seborrheic keratoses. I said I am concerned about a growth under my left breast she asked me to show her and while I was standing there she roughly said I can freeze that off and I said OK and with no discussion or preparation she froze it then asked me to take my mask off and looked at my face then said oh this looks pre-cancerous and froze a place in my cheek with out asking me. There was nothing on my cheek!!! She then went to leave and I asked well is there follow-up should I put something on them, she said I'll get you a paper then left. As I was getting dressed she barged back in without knocking and practically threw a paper at me before leaving. The entire time an intern was in the room staring at her laptop never looking up. The whole incident took less than 5 minutes. I better not have a scar on my cheek where nothing existed. The entire experience felt like she maliciously burned my cheek. read more

Several years ago, after my son's mole between his toes became bigger, his primary physician wanted him to see a dermatologist. My son was leaving on vacation in a couple of weeks, so the doctor said we would probably get in to see Dr. Oldenkamp the soonest. Bad mistake. He went to have it removed (it was probably 1/4"-1/2" big) which she did, but then she just slapped a bandage on it and told him he was good. He went to work that night at FedEx for 4 hours. By the time he got home, his boot was full of blood. I can't believe she didn't give him stitches. It is also true that Dr. Oldenkamp is less than warm and is abrupt in her manner. read more

I would not recommend if possible. I did not see the staff wash their hands once, although my room was entered 3 times there was no courtesy knock on the door to let me know they were entering, and the door to my room was left open while I was barley dressed in one of their gowns. Thankfully I work in the health field and understand some procedures, I was told I was getting a biopsy done to the rash-like spot on my leg. I had to ASK which biopsy was being done and HOW it was being done, they were not going to tell me before hand. I also have a few new moles, growing moles, and irregular-colored moles that I feel she did not take the proper time to look at. She purley judged them by size and did not take the time to listen to my concerns. She did not ease my anxiety or fears and I will be seeking a second opinion. read more

I too was a first time patient with a large cyst on my head. She came in looked from the door, said those are harmless and turned to leave! Literally less than 30 seconds. I asked about removing it and she said oh well make an appointment, as she left the room! No way I would let her touch me! Very unprofessional, Rude and Cold! The surgery was lengthy and the Dr made me laugh and both her and her assistance did their to keep me comfortable. Well, this experience will have me checking Yelp reviews before I go see someone from now on! Had I read all the reviews, I would have known better than to even bother going to this "Dr". The ONLY reason she gets 1 star, is it's REQUIRED to post review, otherwise I'd give her NO STARS! I incorrectly figured that she'd know what she was doing and have at least a modicum of professionalism do to the fact that she's been in practice my entire life. I couldn't have been more wrong!!! While Rodney and Bobby, her receptionists, are nice enough, she is HORRIBLE and honestly has NO place being in charge of the care of humans(I'd doubt animals either!). I went in to her with a 'mole' on my cheek that got infected and was extremely painful and the skin had turned black all around. I went in asking her to freeze the mole off. She decided it had to be biopsied. After doing the biopsy, the hole in my 'mole' pushed out two bundles of hair, (which I took in to show her). Long story short, after having been in to see her four previous times, I returned as the mole was still acting funky. When in her office the last time, I had to get forceful with her, insisting she tell me why after I had repeatedly been requesting it's removal, why had THAT conversation not occurred. Her answer, "oh, your insurance won't cover it". She was ONLY willing to do ANOTHER biopsy. NOT listen to what I had to say, or even consider that what is happening in my face may be something that she's unfamiliar with, let alone actually LOOK into it! I'm with Andrika that I don't ever write reviews either, but this is the worst experience that I've had with a doctor. I see a review on here where Dr. O looked someone over for 2 minutes...well I consider that person to be one lucky patient! She looked me over for less than 10 seconds and I would say that's a generous estimate. My entire visit was over in far less than 2 minutes. If you're going to spend that little time with a patient, I would guess you must be pretty confident in your diagnosis...well no, not in this case. So here I left work early for this appointment, spent well over $100 for the office visit, and shelled out $90 for prescriptions only to find that they didn't work and the problem was misdiagnosed. What a waste! If Dr. O had accurately diagnosed the problem, I would overlook the fact that she is completely rude and has no social skills. Some people are just like that, but if you suck at your job too, now that's a problem. I hate that I even have to put one star on this review. Zero stars for Dr. Oldenkamp! I wish there was an option to give 0 stars. After reading other reviews though, I'm glad to see I wasn't the only one that had a bad experience with her. Even putting the not so kind way she approaches clients aside, my experience was terrible. I have been suffering with severe psoriasis particularly on my scalp for years. My doctor prescribed some different things which didn't really help so she referred me here. I brought a list of medications I had already tried to my appointment with me. In the whole 3 minutes (if even) I was with Susan, she asked me "why are you here", I told her and then she, without even looking at my scalp, told me I didn't have psoriasis and to go to the pharmacy to pick up some things she prescribed...I picked up the medications and they were both medications for psoriasis...something she claimed I didn't even have. One of the medications was something I had already been trying for months which I had already told her didn't help at all. So now I'm looking for a new dermatologist and in the mean time resorting to Google to find some over the counter remedies till I can go in to see a different dermatologist. I'm really shocked at the level of experience she has and the level of care/treatment she provides. Beyond everything, my psoriasis is worse than ever. It really sucks that because this is a private practice, most likely nothing will be done but people are suffering at the hands of this dermatologist. read more
