I've tried Cubans a lot of places and none have stood up to the ones here. Cool place too - an old gas station converted over with great outdoor seating.

El Cubano
Nicolas L.

I visited Ole Tampa Cubans for lunch earlier this week and had a good experience. I tried the El Cubano, Devil Crab, and the Black Beans with Onions and Rice. The El Cubano was a delicious and traditional version of the Cuban sandwich. Nicely toasted Cuban bread was filled with tender roast pork, lightly sweet ham, melted Swiss cheese, tangy pickles, and sharp mustard. However, I was disappointed with the Devil Crab which didn't have much flavor and had too much filler. I needed to add hot sauce to give it some flavor. I enjoyed the Black Beans with Onions and Rice in which the beans were nicely tender, the onions were crisp and flavorful, and the rice was savory. As a local, I will be visiting Ole Tampa Cubans more frequently for the El Cubano.

Potato roll wrapped in wax .... even the presentation was legit!

Well I'm from Washington state so my vote may not seem authentic HOWEVER my florida transplant husband agreed this place was amazing. Wait time: about 10 minutes depending on order. What we ordered: Lg Cuban, crab roll, potato rolls, guava pastry. Oh my word the Cuban was so good - everything about it - the perfectly baked bread, the roasted pork (they roast their own). Even the pickles and mustard were great .... I doubt those pickles are vlasic .... even the salami and ham seemed special and better than most Cubans weve tried around here.....everything was fresh and hot and worked so well together. Crab roll: imagine a hush puppy and a delicious undiscovered shredded crab slightly spicy mix had a baby .... this is even better ... I don't know what they use or how they do it but those things are legit! Potato roll: looked similar in color and texture to the crab roll so I was thinking they just used he same thing but no it was another amazing culinary treat. Mashed potato ball around a pork/hamburger mix and then deep fried .... my super picky toddler even wanted more - so......good! Guava pastry: I'm going to leave this to someone else who loves guava because I don't but I wanted to try it .... I will Say it looked and smelled great .... but if you were wondering - yes it tastes like guava :) You MUsT visit this place if you're within a 40 min radius .... it is that good! Go out of your way if you must but go early so they don't run out of crab rolls (made fresh daily)

I find it hard to trust my bigoted countrymen. But we went to see Elio today and it reaffirmed my belief that one of my heroes from childhood was correct. "Despite everything, I still believe that people are good at heart." That is a paraphrase from Anne Frank's' diary-but it still stands. This is a poem I wrote today. I asked Google to translate it into Spanish. I hope that it conveys the true spirit of what America really stands for.

The wait staff were very friendly, Mark my waiter, has worked here for over 20 year! Speaks volumes about how they run this place! The service was chill, and the food was 1000% full of delicious flavor. I tried their classic famous salad, the seafood paella, and the flan! Absolutely hit the spot!! Visiting here on a Sunday evening was a totally different experience! It felt less like dining out and more like sharing a family meal in a much-loved, historic home. I'll definitely be returning and will bring friends and family with me next time I visit Tampa!

As the oldest restaurant in Florida and the largest Spanish restaurant in the world, we felt it was a must-visit to experience its rich history and unique atmosphere. We also reserved seats for the Flamenco dance show, which had a $10 cover charge per person. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful and enormous, with so many different dining rooms. You could probably get lost trying to find your friends inside, just kidding! We were lucky enough to get a table near the stage, so we could enjoy the Flamenco performance while having dinner. For our meal, we started with the Caldo Gallego "Giant Soup" ($10), which was hearty, flavorful, and incredibly comforting. We also ordered Columbia's Original "1905" Salad ($18). Made with crisp iceberg lettuce, julienned baked ham, natural Swiss cheese, tomatoes, olives, grated Romano cheese, Lea & Perrins® Worcestershire sauce, and their famous garlic dressing, it was fresh, light, and absolutely delicious. Our main dish was the Mojito Chicken ($25). The chicken was very flavorful, especially with its delicious citrus-garlic sauce. Although the chicken itself was just a little on the dry side in my opinion, the flavorful sauce made up for it, and the dish was still very enjoyable. We also had the Paella "a la Valenciana" ($40), which was loaded with clams, mussels, shrimp, scallops, calamari, chicken, and pork, along with green peppers, Spanish onions, ripe tomatoes, garlic, and a splash of white wine. It was a generous portion packed with fresh seafood and rich Spanish flavors. The New York Strip Sirloin "The Bambino" ($53) was another excellent choice. The 14 oz. USDA Choice wet-aged boneless strip steak was tender, juicy, and cooked perfectly. To finish our meal, we ordered the Flan ($8). It was smooth, creamy, and absolutely delicious, a perfect ending to a wonderful dinner. The Flamenco dance show was fantastic! The dancers were energetic and passionate, making the entire dining experience even more lively and memorable. Combined with the excellent service, it made for a truly enjoyable evening. Overall, Columbia Restaurant is much more than just a place to eat, it's a historic landmark and an unforgettable dining experience. Between the beautiful Spanish architecture, rich history, delicious food, outstanding service, and exciting Flamenco performance, it's definitely worth visiting when you're in Ybor City.

Welcoming. bright, clean (Ohmygosh, it's spotless in there), with so many nods to Cuba in the decor-and of course, the menu. I didn't study the options before dropping in on a whim, so I'm sure had a deer in the headlights look as I studied the large menu. The kind man at the counter told me the whole menu was available all day. That's excellent-but uh oh, more choices! After going round and round, I settled on a bacon, egg and cheese pressed sandwich -and got it on Cuban toast-which is always good, everywhere you go-but this was especially yum. (that crunch-the butttery ripples running through it. Ohhh my) I wish I could have stayed and enjoyed it there-the couches were so comfy! But I had to take it with me. No worries, tho'. This huge (and I mean HUGE) and perfectly wrapped sandwich stayed warm all the way home. The bacon and egg were both so well cooked-I'll get it without cheese next time. Those are words I've never typed before-but the bread, bacon and egg need all the spotlight. They're sublime. I thought this sandwich was a great value, considering the size and quality. I liked the cheerful interior. There's plenty of parking. And the location sits along Bruce B Downs in New Tampa-right at the foot of the on-ramps to I-75 north and south. It couldn't be any more convenient. They have a reward program and a coffee menu that so many with love. I'll spin back up there and dine in next time. There's lots of great space to chill out and enjoy.
