I visited Ole Tampa Cubans for lunch earlier this week and had a good experience. I tried the El Cubano, Devil Crab, and the Black Beans with Onions and Rice. The El Cubano was a delicious and traditional version of the Cuban sandwich. Nicely toasted Cuban bread was filled with tender roast pork, lightly sweet ham, melted Swiss cheese, tangy pickles, and sharp mustard. However, I was disappointed with the Devil Crab which didn't have much flavor and had too much filler. I needed to add hot sauce to give it some flavor. I enjoyed the Black Beans with Onions and Rice in which the beans were nicely tender, the onions were crisp and flavorful, and the rice was savory. As a local, I will be visiting Ole Tampa Cubans more frequently for the El Cubano. read more

Well I'm from Washington state so my vote may not seem authentic HOWEVER my florida transplant husband agreed this place was amazing. Wait time: about 10 minutes depending on order. What we ordered: Lg Cuban, crab roll, potato rolls, guava pastry. Oh my word the Cuban was so good - everything about it - the perfectly baked bread, the roasted pork (they roast their own). Even the pickles and mustard were great .... I doubt those pickles are vlasic .... even the salami and ham seemed special and better than most Cubans weve tried around here.....everything was fresh and hot and worked so well together. Crab roll: imagine a hush puppy and a delicious undiscovered shredded crab slightly spicy mix had a baby .... this is even better ... I don't know what they use or how they do it but those things are legit! Potato roll: looked similar in color and texture to the crab roll so I was thinking they just used he same thing but no it was another amazing culinary treat. Mashed potato ball around a pork/hamburger mix and then deep fried .... my super picky toddler even wanted more - so......good! Guava pastry: I'm going to leave this to someone else who loves guava because I don't but I wanted to try it .... I will Say it looked and smelled great .... but if you were wondering - yes it tastes like guava :) You MUsT visit this place if you're within a 40 min radius .... it is that good! Lakeland version is in a small mall off Alamo drive. Call ahead as nothing comes quickly here and that's good. Pressed Cubans are the best with bread that is just right and not too chewy, beats Publix and the others any day of the week. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu! read more

You go there try to order a Cuban and order it the way you want it and you say no mustard no pickles and then you get it and it has mustard mayonnaise and pickles and you do it you go like three times and they keep doing it why would you want to go back they're disrespectful to their customer and then when you order and then one second goes by and then I want to make a change to it they said no sir you can't make a change that's disrespectful to the customer never go here again. read more

Just got takeout from the S. Florida Avenue location. Crab Roll, Black Beans and Rice, and a Roasted Pork Cuban. The order was ready for pickup when she got there. The quality is the same outstanding cuisine that keeps us coming back. My husband and I ordered the El Cubano sandwich. This cuban is awesome! The pork was juicy and very tasty, it was very good. My husband had the Spanish bean soup and raved on how good that was. (Even said he could eat it everyday of the week) I had the Deviled Crab, this was nothing but delicious real crab filling that was over the top great! We finish our lunch with the Guava pastry, that was light and flaky. All around good visit! Parking is beside the building, handicap is right up front. The service is fast and the food is great! They have a drive thru window for call ahead orders. The seating is outside on a cozy patio. The bathroom is handicap accessible. read more

I grew up in Tampa eating Cubans and devil crabs from Silver ring and La Tropicana. I live in Bartow now and was sad that I couldn't have a Cuban unless we drove to Tampa. Was pleasantly surprised! The EL Cubano was just enough inside but not overstuffed with ham, pork and other condiments. The deviled crab was outstanding full of crabmeat and a crispy crust. This was my first visit but I look forward to going back to try some other menu items. Look, around these parts Cuban sandwiches are next level. Some say the sandwich was born in Tampa. So to not only reference that in your name and be within 30 miles of the city, you better be good. This is a good Cuban. The sandwich came wrapped 1st in foil, 2nd in white butcher paper and was cut in half, diagonal of course. Bread was crusty as expected. Meat flavorful and definitely roasted in house. A couple of pickles and you've got a winner. Sandwich was ordered through Bite Squad. Came hot pressed and very neat in a tidy brown paper bag, stapled on top. Also had an order of crab bites. It was a sizable serving of crab mix deep fried in mashed potatoes? Perfect crust, served with a packet of Texas Pete hot sauce. Nice. Would have given 5 stars if I had actually gone to the restaurant and could comment on the staff or cleanliness. I remember the push carts up and down 7th Ave. Ole' Tampa Cubans makes a great Cuban sandwich. The Devil Crabs are good as well. I love hot sauce on my devil crab, I was not disappointed. IMPORTANT. Please make sure if you go through the drive-thru that your tires are properly inflated, because when they hand you your meal the car needs to handle all that weight. I only ordered 1 original cuban and 1 Devil Crab, and when they handed me the package I was sure they made a mistake since it weighed an absolute ton. No mistake, just Huuuge portions of incredibly delicious food. I had my cuban pressed and it was perfect, among the very best I ever had. The Devil Crab with the hot sauce, out of this world! So unique, they should make it a star focus of their marketing and make crab cakes with it as well. So many cars zoom by the place a day and do not know what they are missing.
