My wife and I had dinner at Ole West Bean & Burger this evening. We were disappointed with the quality or should I say the taste of the food. I had catfish and my wife had chicken tenders. The catfish was good but the sides were bland. I had pinto beans from the bean bar and they were tasteless. I also had some beets from the salad bar which were also tasteless. First time ever for tasteless beets and I am 73 years old. My wife said her chicken tenders and gravy were also bland. Athens Bean & Burger is much better. We won't return to the Canton location. read more

This is one of my favorite places in town - it has an awesome, fresh salad bar with many selections! The menu is fantastic and I've had the chicken fried steak, shrimp, burgers, and pork chops and they were all excellent. My husband's favorite is always the fried fish. Heading home from East Texas and we wanted to try something new. I found this place and though it ended up being off the beaten path a little, it was so worth it! I love a good salad bar and my son got lunch and dinner out of his giant half portion of fried catfish! The staff was fast and super friendly too. Not sure when we'll be through Canton again but we're definitely stopping here! And as a bonus we got to take a beautiful country drive back to a main highway that was so much more relaxing than I-20 and only added 10 mins to our overall drive! read more

We were in town for Trades Day and were in the mood for a salad so we tried out this place. The different salads that are offered with the salad bar were yummy. I also tried the beans and cornbread.... I was very pleased. The baked potato was big enough for us to split and it was perfect! Fabulous! The salad bar was fresh and the tomatoes were juicy and sweet. The hamburger was by far one of the best we have had, and the appetizers were amazing! Six of us met there for lunch and overall it was a good experience. A couple of our people ordered french fries and ended up leaving them. My wife and I decided to try this little gem in Canton, TX and I'm glad we did! We both had burgers and they were cooked to perfection. They were big, juicy, and the one I ordered came with bacon, grilled onions, and jalapeños (also came with grilled/sautéed mushrooms but I don't like them) and it was perfect! You can get the salad bar with several of their entrees and it looked great as well. We also tried their various beans and a vegetable soup because it came with our burger baskets. All of it was so good! The environment was pleasant, quiet, and welcoming. Our server was attentive to keeping our drinks filled and the owners, a husband and wife team, were very friendly at checkout. We will most definitely be back when we visit Canton, TX which isn't too bad a drive for us. First visit to this restaurant Thursday, October 29th during First Monday Trade Days. We really enjoyed the salad bar. My friends had the hamburger steak & I had fried shrimp. The all you can eat bean bar..YUM! The ranch style beans are my personal favorite along with the best cornbread, I think maybe the best I've ever eaten!!! But, then there is their choice of steaks, their ribeye is my ultimate favorite!! Always cooked to perfection and so think & juicy,, boy, you know you're in Texas!!! Seriously the food hear was amazing! I had the breaded shrimp and it truly was a delicacy. The shrimp were large fresh and plump annd the breading was like no other. The salad and bean bar was superb. Very fresh with a wide variety of options and some really different extras. My husband had tilapia which was also awesome. The service was super friendly and crazily it was extremely inexpensive for the amount and quality of food. On top of all that Blue Bunny icecream is free. What a find! read more

They don't skimp on ingredients, fresh and flavorful. Next time we are in the area we are coming back. They even threw in a complementary extra for a birthday. We went to this place 3/28/2016. Was surprised clean place the waitress seated us and when we ordered she was right there to keep checking on us. If you order a meal you get the bean and salad bar I had chicken fried steak it was huge and not knowing about the salad bar we ordered the combo appetizer it was fantastic my wife had the hamburger steak and loved it there was a lot to choose from on the salad and bean bar and by the way its all you want to eat when you order the meal. Then to top it off at the end the young lady said we could help ourselves to Ice Cream I would rate this place one of the best places I have been to. DO NOT EAT HERE. Although we had a great waitress, the owner is RUDE and IGNORANT. We ordered baked potatoes plus salad bars. (3 of those). After we had gotten our salads, we were told they were out if potatoes so the 3 of chose to split a steak (that came with a salad bar). Then we were told that if we order that, after we already had our salads from our previous request that we didn't get, that we would be charged for the 2 salad bars and the steak. Even though we didn't get what we wanted in the first place. AND THEN, after the owner was told twice to come talk to us, he ignored that and never came then proceeded to be so RUDE and DISRESPECTFUL and still thinks nothing wrong was done to us and it's all of our faults. Needless to say, we didn't order the steak and were stuck paying for 3 salad bars that were NOT WORTH $7. Plus, he would have made more money off of is if he would have discounted the salad bars and we ordered the steak. We will NEVER come back. read more
