Lemon Chicken
Brian C.

I have frequented Olea over the years and it is some good Mediterranean food you can get at good prices. The inside is comfortable and spacious and you easily walk up and order at the counter. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the entire process is pretty easy. The food periods are solid and filling. I usually get the Lemon Chicken and it's always pretty good. I enjoy eating here, thanks for having me!

This place is absolutely delicious. If you're visiting Emerald Isle, Olea is totally worth the 15+ minute drive to Swansboro. This fast casual style Mediterranean restaurant is the perfect spot for post beach dinner. When you walk in the place smells incredible. Being Arab American, I adored that they were playing Arabic music there. You order up front and are given a buzzer for when your food is ready. We ordered the cauliflower to share (seasoned perfectly), the lamb gyro, and chicken shawarma. We went halfsies on the sandwiches which was an amazing way to try more things. As a Yelper I have to laugh at myself for not capturing photos of the sandwiches because they were so delicious I inhaled them. My friend's dad ordered a side of the cucumber salad which was so yummy too. It was a nice side to add on top of the sandwiches. There was plenty of seating available. We got a comfortable booth. The restroom is a single bathroom. The people who work here are also very kind. I highly recommend checking this place out.

Picking up some Greek in Swansboro

This place was so fresh. Located in a little strip mall right off the main road in to Swansboro. There are tables and booths as well as some outdoor seating but you order at the counter and pick up there when it is ready. We needed some quick dinner but were not in the mood for "fast food" burgers and this was a great alternative. They even have a drive thru although we went in for our to go order. The servers were very nice and answered all our questions. Two in our party got lamb gyros and salads. Daughter went with a salmon wrap and I had a chicken shawarma wrap. All the vegetables were tasty and fresh. Everyone was so pleased with their dishes.

First time. Food is good, we ordered chicken platter and baba ganoush / bread. Portion is not very big. Employees are helpful.

Omg!! if you have not been here, you are really missing out. This is some of the best food I've ever had! Call ahead and they even have a pick up window!

Rack of lamb

I had a craving for Mediterranean food, and our usual spot had closed down! After a search, I found Olea Mediterranean kitchen! The ambience is nice and feels like you're walking into a traditional home in Italy or Greece. The staff for welcoming and professional. The rack of lamb, which I had was perfectly seasoned and cooked. They have a great selection of Mediterranean and European beer! I will be back again to enjoy the rocket land and all their other offers!

Visiting the Swansboro area to take care of my aunt and wanted to try something new! Olea was fantastic! The staff is very friendly, welcoming and answers any questions you have about the menu. The vibe is very casual and has accessible seating and entry options which was a huge plus since people in my dining party are cane and walker users. Service was quick we had four meals and an appetizer out in about 15 minutes. The food was very tasty and the portions were very reasonable for the price. I had a salmon wrap, my mom had a chicken shawarma and my aunt and grandma had lamb gyros. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting some darn good Greek food in the Jacksonville area!

CHICKEN TAWOOK
Karen L.

Daughter came into town and asked if we could go back to the Greek place. This time we tried the Falafel Hummas combo, yummy. I had my regular, Chicken Tawook (so nice and spicy) and she had the Chicken Shawarma and she loved it. The flavors are so inviting. I also tried a hot Chia tea which was good. I was half way through my meal when I had to ask for my tea but the young man was very apologetic. It was different than I normally have. Mine usually comes with milk but this was clear. It was a cold night and perfect for warming me up. My daughter had a Cafe Mocha but said she has had better. I gave four stars this visit, but I will keep coming back and will bring my out-to-town guest here every time.

Large parking lot as the building sits in the front of a strip mall. Staff was very friendly. Service was very good but it was (maybe) 20% full on a Saturday night at 630. Marrakesh claims to be Mediterranean and they are somewhat correct. I consider Greek, Turkish, Italian to be more Mediterranean. OK, I'll give you Moroccan,, but no way Indian. India is in Asia. ( I know this sounds a little like bragging but I've eaten at many Greek & Turkish restaurants in my lifetime (high end to little, casual cafes), so for those who gave it 5 stars...they probably gave the Olive Garden 5 stars too) The menu is not big and has items from all the cuisines I mentioned above ( except Italy of course) The FOOD.... Apps --The Hummus was just pretty good. but the pita they served was dry like "store-bought". --The Grape Leaves (Rolled grape leaves stuffed with ground beef, parsley, and rice) were just OK too. --The Spanokopita; ( a Greek dish) a mixture of cooked spinach, feta cheese, and onion wrapped in phyllo dough.. was very good. Entrees --The Lamb Chops ( you get 4 of them) are the best bet here. Served with rice or salad. It may be the most expensive dish on the menu but well worth it. ( I did find it odd the server never asked how we wanted it cooked but they were juicy and delish) --I had the Three Meat Combo and choose three items: Chicken Tawook, Lamb, and Sheesh, served with rice and salad. All the meats were very dry. --Maqluba (Mediterranean rice casserole with a special blend of spices, chicken, cauliflower, carrots, and potatoes, served with salad) was tried by a few at our table. It's a huge portion of rice with stuff in it (it was very inexpensive at $16 but then again it was mostly rice) There was an item on the menu ( stuffed Cornish game hen) but they were sold out by 630pm on a Saturday night (odd). Desserts I found it odd that the menu only lists 2 desserts, yet when I asked there were approximately 5 more, including the currently popular Dubai chocolate cake or ice cream ( I forgot which but wish I chose it.) I'm glad I asked because our server never mentioned any specials. Warning: do NOT order the baklava. It was as dry as sand. Worst I ever had and I've had many. All in all the locals surely will like it because it is different and I doubt it has much competition. But if you are visiting and eat this type of food a lot back where you're from, buyer beware.

You can choose a bowl, a wrap, or a pita. They do offer sandwiches and other items as well. I decided on a bowl. I chose yellow rice instead of quinoa. I was able to have a few small samples to help make a decision. I also had lamb, chicken, garbanzo beans, spinach, three different hummus (feta, traditional, roasted eggplant), lettuce, tomato, feta, cucumbers, naan, and tzatziki over the top. I also decided to have a lemonade. They have several different lemonades to choose from and it's bottomless if you're dining in. I added so many items to the bowl the price was fairly high, but worth it. There's plenty of seating inside and it's a nice dining room. Very simple, but comfortable. I sat and enjoyed my bowl with pomegranate lemonade. Everything was delicious. I'm happy that I finally tried The Hummus Republic. I will definitely eat here again. Recommend giving it a try.

I got a pretty full bowl. I noted that the kale they had out had a number of dubious leaves in it, but the person picked around them to get me some nice green kale (if I were them I'd just dump the wilted ones). Vegetarian options were ample at all levels of the ordering process and indeed the only non-vegan component i ended up with was some feta. It was a salty and tasty bowl; oddly the salad greens were the only thing I got less of than expected. I also said what the heck and got what they call a signature tahini shake, which was absurdly filling to the point that I pretty much skipped a meal. Okay if that's what you want. Overall, not perfect but a quality place with options for most diets.

It was clean, loud, good loud filled with conversation and laughter. Unfortunately, my pasta was extremely overcooked. It was so soft that I couldn't even pick it up with a fork without it falling apart. The photo shown shows just how shredded the pasta was when I picked it up. The sauce itself was delicious, which made it even more disappointing because the pasta was basically mush. I brought it to their attention, and they apologized, but then told me the kitchen was closed. I believe they stop serving at 9:00 p.m., and it was only 9:03 p.m. when I mentioned the issue. Whether the kitchen was technically closed or not, fixing the dish would have only required boiling a small portion of pasta and adding some of the sauce that I assumed was already prepared. I mean it was literally 3mins past 9pm there's no way they cleaned the kitchen and packed up that quick. There were still multiple tables here. Instead, I was told there was nothing they could do, though they would remove the item from the bill. While I appreciate not being charged, I don't think that was the most appropriate solution because it essentially meant I didn't get to eat a main course. My husband still had his meal, so at that point it didn't seem worth leaving or trying to find food elsewhere after already spending around $70 on dinner (the pasta not included). If it had been much later in the evening, or I wanted to add something to my bill, I would have understood, but being only a few minutes past closing made the response feel disappointing. The flavors were excellent, and up until that point the experience had been very good. I really wanted that pasta too haha. The sauce was so good. I hope they handle situations like this differently in the future.

I would say it probably took 15-20 minutes, which seemed very long. Server was nice enough, but there was definitely some miscommunication between the front and back because we ordered a few items to go too, so we waited around 5-10 minutes to find out what we wanted wasn't available. There was some difficulties with refunding what we prepaid, so we ended up taking other food as a substitute. Overall, food was fine, but service had a lot of room for improvement.
