This is a restaurant that belongs to the Hamptons in NY. Let's be grateful that is here. Everything here is delicious. The menu is rich in options. I had a Chocolate Martini that was not in the menu. My five stars go to that single gesture that our waitress Ybrace, made it possible for me. She was extremely professional, kept coming back to see if we need it anything . The atmosphere is cozy and inviting for relaxing while enjoying a great meal. Is the best in the area by far.

Everything was absolutely delicious and the service was great. The house made mozzarella appetizer was a perfect start, the chicken Victoria is delicious and enough to feed you for days! And the beef short ribs were so flavorful.

This place rocks my socks! It's so good, it could easily go up against some of the best Italian spots in Jersey where my husband's from, which is why we visit Il Congo very often. They make the BEST appetizer of fresh mozzarella right in the kitchen, it comes out warm and spreadable. They serve it with great bread and paired that with the best veggies, like sun-dried tomatoes and fresh garden tomatoes, and it's a game-changer... I always leave this place stuffed because I can't stop myself! The pasta dishes here literally are top tier! You can tell they really know what they're doing in the kitchen with all the flavors and umami bombs. I would also recommend the chicken parm as it's absolutely delicious and amazing portion sizes!! The waitresses who have served us have been absolutely perfect, so sweet and kind and really make you like your part of the cigno family. The vibe is wholesome and it's the perfect spot for a nice dinner date. This is an absolute must-try. I'll have to return soon and actually remember to take photos because I always gobble it down!!! Also for the weekends i'd recommend calling ahead to make a reservation as they get pretty busy and there may be a wait.

Cute interior though seating is a little tight, but worth it for the food! Every dish we had was amazing and the cocktails were good too. The service is friendly and prompt as well. Can't wait to come back.

Enjoyed dinner for a date night here a few weeks ago on a Monday night and it did not disappoint. We had reservations (which I'd highly recommend) and still waited a fair amount of time despite having a reservation and many available tables. Upon sitting, we waited a long time for our waiter. Started off with bread and ordered lasagna rolls and the eggplant meatball. Unfortunately they were out of the lasagna rolls but the meatball was the highlight of our meal. YOU HAVE TO GET THE EGGPLANT MEATBALLS! My husband ordered Marsala for dinner, gnocchi dish to try, and I ordered the seafood fra diavolo. The gnocchi was amazing. The Marsala was good but we wouldn't order again. The diavolo was great, my only complaint is I couldn't change the pasta (I wanted a house made pasta with my dinner). For desert we ordered the cheesecake and crème brûlée which both were phenomenal. I'm not a crème brûlée lover but it's the best we've ever had. We had two great bottles of wine as well. Overall, great dinner. Great view. Great food.

The food was ABSOLUTELY delicious! The meatballs were fresh and soft. The spaghetti sauce was delicious not to sweet not to over seasoned. My husband says the seafood was cooked to perfection (and ate the whole plate in record time) they had live music playing what was refreshing and not overly loud. Our waitress had great suggestions as it was our first time, however the customer service just wasn't there. And the 3% credit card charge AFTER we provided our card was unexpected for sure..... not impressed by that

Phenomenal food and fabulous service. This is my new daddy-daughter date night spot when we are in Swansboro. I have had the chicken Marsala and the mussels in red sauce, and neither disappointed. My daughter always gets the chicken alfredo, which isn't normally my thing, but even that is wonderful in my book. It's worth the price.

A local guy from New Jersey recommended this place, since he knew, being from Connecticut, we'd appreciate good Italian. It definitely didn't disappoint. The homemade pappardelle was cooked al dente and the sauce had some unique flavor. My husband's Seafood Manicotti was also cooked perfectly. The bruschetta is also unique, using their homemade Mozzarella. The service Samaria provided was perfect, and we had a table at the window with a great view!

Parking: limited parking but it was in downtown swansboro so everything was close together Food: excellent food. the eggplant meatballs were so delicious and well done. the sauce they came with complimented it so well. the gnocchi was great and so flavorful but the sauce was a bit basic for how good the gnocchi was. Service: great service and our server was very kind, friendly, and prompt Ambience: it has a great italian rustic look to it with a bar in the back if you wanted drinks

Service and food was fantastic! The bolognese was wonderful! The Veal victoria was good, but did have to add salt. Wonderful wine selection as well!

    Crème brûlée

Server was great, host was very quick to get us seated. The ambiance was a bit overstimulating the restaurant wasn't full but between the patrons and the music it was very loud. The food was okay, hot and fresh tasting but the flavors weren't there for us.

One approaches a kitchen promising Low Country simplicity with a certain, shall we say,…read moreapprehension. One anticipates the rustic, the unvarnished truth, and Boro, to its credit, provides precisely this necessary theatrical context. The cuisine, blessedly free of the contemporary chef's compulsion to smother and complicate, is a profound exercise in elemental preparation. The seafood, whether grilled, broiled, or steamed, is allowed to speak for itself--a rare instance of culinary honesty achieved by the pure elimination of extraneous sauces. It is simple, yes, but in its unwavering pursuit of purity, it is undeniably good. The atmosphere adheres to its premise, rustic. It serves as an apt, unfussy framework that successfully prevents the food from aspiring to a sophistication it neither possesses nor requires. Furthermore, the personnel display a most peculiar, yet welcome, characteristic--they are friendly. And the kitchen seems determined to defeat the human condition of hunger through sheer volume, the quantities are nothing if not plentiful. And yet, even in such a steadfastly honest establishment, the shadow of imperfection must fall. In this recent visitation, the hush puppies, those humble tokens of Southern hospitality, lacked the grace and essential character they possessed in prior recollections. This is a small, tragic failure--a momentary lapse in the otherwise consistent tapestry of taste. It is a singular, nearly unforgivable misstep in a dish so fundamental, but one which fails to crumble the entire enterprise. Boro Low Country Kitchen, continue this earnest, unpretentious work.

Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing for all of us, especially given the high prices. I ordered the chicken Parmesan. The chicken was extremely thin with very heavy breading and honestly tasted like a frozen chicken patty. The red sauce lacked flavor, and the side pasta was unusual--small round noodles that reminded me of canned SpaghettiOs, with water sitting at the bottom of the bowl. We were expecting something more traditional like linguine. My husband ordered the shrimp Parmesan and had a very similar experience with heavy breading, bland sauce, and the same pasta side. My husband is a retired Marine Corps food service officer, so we do appreciate good Italian cooking, and this meal simply didn't meet expectations. Our friend ordered the veal piccata and expected it to be breaded, but it was not and the dish was quite different from what she anticipated. She also received the same pasta side. Her husband ordered the baked ziti, which he said was just okay. On a positive note, our waitress Holly was very kind and attentive. Overall, none of us left particularly impressed. With the prices being on the higher side, we were expecting a much better meal. We won't return.

My husband never takes home anything he doesn't finish, but he did take home his dinner this time. The portion was too much to finish and too good to leave. Our server was incredible. At the end of our dinner we found out she was Carlos's wife. Both of them came to the table and we talked. They are absolutely the friendliest owners we've met. They showed us pictures of their HUMONGOUS dogs. The atmosphere was perfect with Italian music playing in the background. Not so loud you couldn't hear each other talk. The entire night from start to finish was PERFECT. I strongly recommend people from New Bern to give Casa San Carlos a try. It does take a bit to get there from New Bern, but it is well worth the drive. You WON'T be sorry!!
