a bowling alley with bowling lanes

A great local favorite, nothing flashy, but it is not supposed to be! A great place to practice or go with a few friends or a date. O'Lindy's reminds me of the time I had just gotten into bowling - old school candlepin! The walls appear to be carpeted, and the balls return on open rails. They don't use paper scoring though - scoring is done automatically. It's a much older system with tube TV's, and no song and dance every other ball. While I appreciate the simplicity of just three buttons, it is not always 100% accurate, and you're unable to fix it yourself. Person behind the counter probably could - but I'm not **that** serious a bowler. With all this: You don't come here to get your party on, but a small-ish group or corporate event would be just fine. No fancy massive TV walls, black-lights,disco balls, or full bar/kitchen, if that's your thing. They do have an extremely limited beer/wine(?) selection, and other concessions. Cost is per person per string, and is quite reasonable at under five bucks.

It was a rainy Sunday afternoon, and this place was surprisingly empty. They have 16 lanes for Candlepin bowling, and 11 (minus the two that were covered?) pool tables. We were charged $12 per hour for the 2 hours of billiards played, so with the $5 coupon I had printed from their website it was $8 apiece for the two of us.

The website says darts, but don't have darts. No boards. Just thought people should know.

Just a great classic fun night for the family. Clean facility, accommodating staff. What's better than candle pin bowling in MA?

Two of my greatest pleasures in life are carpeted walls, closely followed by candlepin bowling, so Olindy's did not disappoint on either front.

You can pay to play as little as one game of bowling, or obviously more if you'd like. If you don't want to bowl, they have a billiards room, an arcade, and AR darts. Plus there's a food spot which you can dine in or bring to whatever game you're playing. Prices are pretty reasonable and they offer certain discounts for students and I believe seniors. It was pretty packed on a Sunday night but we were able to walk in and grab a lane. Food was also good, although a little pricey and took like as there was only one woman behind the counter and two in the kitchen. Despite the wait for the food and drinks, the staff were working hard and did a good job. It was fun seeing my boyfriends childhood spot, and nice to see families and friends gathering around to have some in-person fun again. We also got to catch a glimpse of a bowling league in action so that was pretty cool.

(Bowling is a workout, whew!) They also have the pool hall of course and that includes some new features, they have a video dart game and they have a TV that has the news on it and of course the pool tables. A nice new addition is the new restaurant that offers food and drink that is absolutely delish! The pizza, wings & fries I've tried and I love but the burgers looked wonderful.. will try that next time. My only problem was that a game malfunctioned on us and I did have a hard time making the staff understand that we lost half of our first game on #21 (I'm saying the number in hopes that it will be fixed soon...) it went zonky on us and skipped ahead to our 2nd game.. but eventually they did get my drift and they moved us to a new alley and all was well. No we weren't trying to scam them! (smile) Thank you.

Today really sealed it for me. We came to celebrate my son's 10th birthday, and when we arrived, the internet was down so it was cash only--but there was no sign on the outside door. You don't find out until after you walk in, which already starts the experience off wrong. The manager working tonight (glasses, thinning blonde/gray hair) was incredibly rude and condescending. Zero customer service skills and no empathy whatsoever. He didn't seem to care that multiple machines were broken or malfunctioning: * Air hockey had no airflow and didn't keep score * Connect Four Hoops (red side) was playing by itself * Motorcycle games charged but wouldn't start * Basketball games were missing balls * Several other machines weren't working properly Instead of addressing any of this, he was selectively handing out game cards to other customers while repeatedly ignoring my son--the birthday boy--and our family. While we were waiting for food, he came over and asked whose birthday it was, as if I hadn't already told him earlier. Then he made a sarcastic comment saying, "clearly from the sign on the door." Completely unnecessary and unprofessional. There are way too many better options out there to spend this kind of money and be treated this way. I won't be coming back. 0/10 experience.

The sriracha honey wings are the best! Not too spicy at all and very good. The barbacoa fries were okay. Kids love pretzels, chicken tenders, and pretzel dogs, so those are always a given when coming here. Fun place to go and eat first! Really glad they have friendly, nice, and kind ppl working in the arcade sections, human crane (super cool and new), and the ticketing section to collect your prizes after playing. South Shore Lanes is tucked within the South Shore Country Club, but is accessible to the public. It's candlestick bowling, which is perfect for kids of all ages. My four year old absolutely loved it! It's SUPER retro... i.e., the place hasn't been updated for many, many years. This is a huge factor of what makes it so cool. Between the paper scoring, old school alleys, and plastic bench seating areas, it's a complete blast from the past. Plus, private equity hasn't gotten its hands on this place yet, which means the prices are incredible. With a group of 10, you're going to spend $300+ at a Bowlero... here, the price of the shoes + lanes were like $100 for all of us. Hard to beat! I do recommend calling for a reservation before you go. It was basically empty (minus a kid's birthday party that was ending when we got there), but there aren't a ton of lanes... so you might be stuck waiting for a bit if they're busy. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and will be back!

It's usually clean and bright, but it looks sort of old. The lanes are in good shape, and the last time the Guru was there, they were in the process of rehabbing their pinsetters. Country Club Lanes has 10 lanes of Candlepin Bowling on one level. There is a good sized parking lot attached to the facility. There is a restaurant attached to the Country Club, but the Guru doesn't know if it is affiliated with the bowling alley. It is a relatively "honest" house (you get what you hit). They do not have games. They do not have pool tables. They *DO* have bumper bowling for children. They do not offer "Glow" or "Cosmic" bowling. They use paper scoring for the public. Country Club Lanes is "smoke-free".
