To start, this was served by the same kitchen, at the nicer place down the airports much to my chagrin. It's all automated via computer screen, and the three servers all told me they were done for the day after checking on my simple order in Airport. My colleagues food came and left. I can tell you he looked less then appreciative of the fries and the sandwich that he ordered. I had waited for so long and no one was working so I called customer service and waited on hold for 30 minutes. At that point I just went to the other restaurant to see what was up. They apologized and told me my food was no longer available and I had to re-order. I received $19 cold unflavored broccoli that wouldn't have covered a tea-sized dish. The main dish was so forgettable, cold, and poorly seasoned but I already forgot about it. By the time I wrote this post. They talk about how there's some esteemed chef at this location. I assure you there is not. It felt like TV dinners for slapped on price of a Morton's steakhouse... You're better off with any of the three fast food options 25 feet prior. read more

Disappointed. Came to Olio as highly rated chef designed plates, and seeking vegetarian options. Sandwiches (portobello/roasted red pepper panini ) were underseasoned and cold, 'chips' were room temperature precooked and over salted waffle chips with grated Parmesan. Discovered after eating that our waiter was assembling ('cooking') our plates in a kitchenette area reminiscent of a college dorm room. Underwhelmed. Bypass this option. read more

This is one of the worst airport experiences I've ever had. I ordered over an hour before departure got half of my food. Mentioned to the very flustered but rude guy that I only got half my food. Never heard anything and our flight was boarding so I asked if he had the food. Proceeded to deliver everyone else's and said that even though my flight was boarding I shouldn't get someone else's food. Is there anything about this airport that doesn't suck? This place is a perfect example. You have to order through the crappy GUI on an iPad that tries to do facial recognition on you and wants to scan your boarding pass. The staff is rude. You can't get a paper receipt; you have to give them your email address or your phone number so they can spam you. Unfortunately, one company owns most of the concessions in this airport, so you're pretty much stuck. Best to avoid the airport if you can find another route. And I just heard the "bartender" tell another patron that you can't pay with cash. What's the point of staff at all? Why not just replace them with a dispenser...that also gives receipts like a gas pump? One last complaint: the bar stools are bolted to the floor, so you'd better be an average middle-aged man if you want to be comfortable. read more

I meant to post this back in November & found in my drafts!! This might be our best layover we've had! An unfortunate circumstance turned positive when we chose to get a drink at Olio thanks to Joseph! He was so friendly and on top of it. Although layovers aren't fun, I had to make the joke that I hope we get another layover here at Houston airport just to come by and see him again! He was able to take care of us on time and we watched him walk around and take care of other areas, cleaning up and always being on top of it. Give this man a raise or promote him read more

Unfortunately, I couldn't give this place more than 1 star. This review is solely based on customer service. We ordered two drinks from the bar and it took a very long time to be brought out. My bf went to the bartender to ask if he should take the drinks, and before he could utter a word. The bartender tells him "I am just one person" Whaaa?! What kind of nonsense is that. I've never been to a place where the worker can say that to a customer without the customer even uttering a word. To say the least, I am very disappointed in the customer service. He was the only person working the bar. So we definitely understood any level of frustration he must've had; however it doesn't excuse him from being rude to a customer! Hope he gets it together and learns how to cope and manage himself when it's just him. read more

Went to get a beer between flights, and we were lucky enough not to order yet when a guy approached. He had ordered 20 minutes before for his drink, he had payed already and no one was even behind the bar to make it. You can't have a pay on your own if no one is going to be there to fulfill your order. Horrible service experience. Ordered food on their iPad system and swiped my credit card and then they don't have the items ordered. So then I ordered again, swiped my card and then he took 30 minutes to get an appetizer delivered. The server got the general manager and they are not able to credit my money back and they can't give me any receipt saying they are going to give me my money back so basically they took my money and they didn't give me any food. Avoid this place, their service is horrible, their manager is horrible, the food is horrible. read more

This was the Nastiest appetizer I have EVER tasted. And I'm not one to be that dramatic. There was NO SALT or seasoning on the "Pesto" as they called it. And the Bruccetta (Sorry about spelling) was canned tomatoes with some sort of obscure greens inside. THE WORST!!! I want my money back but I'm on the plane. Here is a pic. I am a business owner and would be embarrassed if this was being served at my restaurant.... The salad had a sort of sheen mimicking dressing, however... when I took the first bite, it was barely-there olive oil and a hint of something maybe salty ...I'm only letting you know because customers will be mad. However for the price that you pay you will be surprised at the bloody Mary was served in a small glass. I have a 3-hour layover at the airport, so I was able to research the best places to eat. Olio came up in a couple of articles and, despite the reviews, I decided to give it a shot. I was a little nervous when I noticed there weren't any customers, but the whole terminal was a little dead, so I shrugged that off as well. I began to order through the kiosk when the server came and asked if I was in a hurry. When I told her no, she said the cook was downstairs and she didn't know when he'd return. I asked if she meant 15 minutes or more like 30. She stated that she couldn't say. So, I can't really give a review of the food because I left. read more

Definitely a five-star experience and a step above regular airport fare. $14 for the best duck Panini with cashew butter I've ever had LOL. Tasty bread; white bread so I can't say it is healthy. I see some negative reviews but why? One lady took her food to go on an airplane & then didn't like the expericnce. I got the duck Panini with cashew butter and extra everything. Ordered two paninis (cheese and chkn) and a PB&J sandwich to-go for the flight which was about to board. They took considerable time to prepare as there seems to be only one person in the kitchen. There were no other customers. The chicken sandwich tasted ok but the cheese one tasted bad and caused an upset stomach. The bill came out to $44+, which is outrageous and didn't realize it until I saw the credit charge the next day. read more

I have now tried, I think, all of the new "OTG Experience" restaurants at IAH and my conclusion is that someone should just put this horse down as it would be the humane thing to do. I admit, I was really excited that we were going to get some restaurants from some of the best chefs in Houston. The concept of an airport being a microcosm of its location to showcase all a city has to offer is a great idea. But to expect OTG employees, rather than the serious food employees at say, Monica Pope's or Chris Shepard's restaurants to execute with precision and come up even a good facsimile of their food was way too much to ask. To put it bluntly, if I was to eat the food here at Olio or any of the other restaurants in E, I would NEVER try one of their restaurants again. I have the luck to live here in Houston and I've been able to experience the greatness each of these chef's do on a daily basis and I can only come away with the literal FACT that their brands and reputations are being demolished by the horrible experiences at IAH. Today at Olio, I ordered the salami appetizer (I'd explain it to you but it's not on the menu anymore apparently so why bother). It seemed to be the only inventive thing there. I settled for the cheese plate, which was supposed to be some cheeses from local dairies. The Brie looking one seemed to be artisan, the provolone tasting one appeared to be from HEB. I could still see the plastic wrapper marks on the edges of the cheese. I'm just guessing that's what they were because my server didn't explain anything at all. He did seem nice when he told me they were out of the salami appetizer and brought me an 8 oz. iced tea that he didn't bother to refill even once. Well I guess he was busy eating, himself, a few tables away so that could explain why. Do they not give their employees proper breaks? Can we staff a "high quality" restaurant with, say, maybe two servers? Luckily I've been smart to these stupid iPad menus where they close out your tab before getting the food. They try to automatically give themselves an 18% tip. I am a 20%+ tipper for good service. I even tip when there's bad service (proportionately---if you eat in a restaurant and reward bad service with good tips, you are my sworn enemy). I have learned to tip after my meal with cash at IAH. This usually works better and you get some semblance of service but apparently my server was going to work based on what he could see. So...I didn't see him at all after he put my food down. He seemed very pleasant though. For real. I also ordered the short rib panini and upcharged the side to a Caesar salad. What a mistake that was. I've had better Caesars from a Dole bag at Kroger. It was smothered in the worst croutons I've ever eaten. They were somehow chewy. And that wasn't the worst part. They were tasteless also. It was impossible to stab them with the plastic fork also. The flavors in the sandwich were really tasty though. It was supposed to have burrata cheese on it but there is zero evidence that it wasn't basic mozzarella. And why melt burrata anyway? The whole point is it's texture which you kill by heating it. I'm sure they were tired of the mess it made in the panini maker if they ever even did try it instead of mozzarella. I could go on but, honestly, I would be beating that horse that needs to be put down. Eat at Potbelly. Or Wendy's. You will save a ton of money and at least it will be the same food you expect from one of those chain places. Which is somehow light years ahead of the food from Pope, Shepard, Caswell, the amazing chefs from Pass and Provisions, and this year's James Beard award winner Hugo Ortega. If I was any of them, I'd close them tomorrow and cut my losses. read more

In IAH terminal C. The soup and drinks were good BUT the customer service was some of the most outstanding I have experienced and witnessed ANYWHERE!!! (And I travel all over the world!!!!) Hang on to Candace; hang on to Kiona!!!! Truly, I sat here for an hour nursing a Bloody Mary and a soup and watched them help people above and beyond!!! Very disappointing service. I ordered a sandwich and cocktail ... with tip the bill came to $38.51. Everything ordered by touch screen and paid in advance. Got my cocktail immediately and then waited for sandwich. Had a half hour before boarding so thought I had plenty of time. After 15 minutes I asked about the status of my order. The girl tending the counter went to the prep area and couldn't find my order so she asked what kind of sandwich I had ordered. I told her and she went back and put in order again. Another 10 minutes went by and my flight had been called. I went back to the prep area and asked if they could make the sandwich to go. No problem, but they couldn't find the order again. Although there were not a lot of customers, the prep area was total chaos. I waited watching the crew go around in circles completely shell-shocked. Lots of angry customers. Finally came last call at my gate and I had to leave ... still no sandwich and apparently no manager to be found either. read more

We were back in the US & waiting for our next flight so stopped here for a glass of wine. The kiosk shows all wines 10.50 so we ordered two. Then it asks which size ( no pricing differences). Then our tab is over $39.00. Hmmm We called to a guy asking if he could answer a question. Without looking up he says "that's what I'm here for"--his attitude clearly meant don't bother me. We asked how $21.00 for two wines became over 39.00. They don't bother to tell you the larger size is 15.50 then you are forced to pay 18% g ratutity. We didn't finish ordering on the kiosk, he sat the wine on the counter and we had to reach way down to get it. Nothing further from him and we needed to go so we called to him that we needed to pay so he took my card, ran it handed it back. No thank, nothing. I've never been forced ( you have no choice) to pay 18% g ratutity. I thought gratutity was a tip for service. Here you get misleading pricing, NO SERVICE, and the tip should have been one cent. I could buy two bottles of that exact wine for $39.00. I even wrote an email to them and they didnt bother to answer, thus my yelp review. Go somewhere else that cares that you are there and doesn't rip you off also. One star but no stars would be appropriate. read more
