My husband and I stopped by First Watch today for a late brunch. We actually ended up here because another brunch spot in the area had a 45-minute to one hour wait. When we arrived, First Watch looked pretty busy, but we were pleasantly surprised that we were seated right away. The hostess was very kind and welcoming, and our waiter was just as nice... cordial, helpful, and attentive throughout our visit. The service was definitely one of the highlights. For food, we both ordered the Trifecta. I chose the waffle with potatoes instead of eggs, along with their chicken sausage patty, and I added a side salad with mixed greens and a lemon herb dressing. I also added a side of chicken. Initially, I thought the chicken breast would be about $2.50, but before placing the order our waiter came back and clarified that it would be about $5 and would come as strips instead of a full chicken breast. I appreciated him coming back to correct that. When the chicken came out, it was sliced into very thin pieces and was a little lukewarm. I mentioned it to the waiter, and he apologized and handled it professionally by removing it from the bill, which I appreciated. Overall, the food was okay, about a 3.5 out of 5 for me. The waffle was tasty, just as I remembered, and the potatoes were good as well. However, the chicken sausage patty wasn't very good. I personally didn't enjoy it and ended up leaving it on the plate. My husband ordered the pancake with pecans, scrambled eggs, and a side of grits with butter, and he enjoyed his meal. One thing I did like was that you can now pay your bill directly from your phone, which makes it really convenient when you're ready to go without waiting. Overall, the big win here was the service and hospitality. The staff was friendly, attentive, and efficient, and we appreciated being seated quickly even when it seemed busy. I was starving and I don't know many places in humble so...a familiar name pops up? First watch. Unfortunately... The other people were nice enough... The food did not taste great. I had the salmon eggs benedict, as I always do... It did not taste good at all. The Salmon didn't taste like real fish. Tags were bland and the only thing I really liked were the fresh red onions. Bummer. Now, I always like to wash it down with a purple haze... Thankfully it was still really tasty. Maybe the cooks were tired. *Shrugs* Lol. They close at 2:30 and I came in at 2:00 The inside was pretty empty with only maybe four tables in use. First Watch has been popping up everywhere and is a great place for brunch as they have a wide variety of menu items! On my visit, to start out, the server bought out water which i'm able to refill at my table whenever I needed which was a great touch! I ordered The Trifecta with a Plain Multigrain Pancake, Cheesy Grits and Chicken Apple Sausage Patties. I also ordered The Traditional with Bacon, Seasoned Potatoes, Scrambled Eggs and an English Muffin. There was some wows in both meals and there was some disappointing moments. In The Trifecta, the cheesy grits were the star of the show, i've only ever gotten the seasoned potatoes here which are always good but the cheesy grits were tasty!! I didn't have to add any salt or butter, only some black pepper! It fell short for me with the pancake and sausage. The pancake was huge, looked perfect, was hot with a crispy exterior. I just didn't like the flavor. It honestly didn't have one to me. Maybe i'm just not a fan of multigrain pancakes but it needed some vanilla and sweet cream inside of it for my liking. As for the sausage patties they just didn't hit the spot for me and they were super thin. Moving on to The Traditional, it was overall good but could've been better. I loved how they gave me a lot of bacon, but it was just so flimsy. As for the scrambled eggs, I could be wrong but they might be a premixed egg from a carton which isn't my favorite but they're decent for restaurant eggs. The english muffin is your average english muffin, so no complaints there and they have many different bread substitutions you can choose from as well as the meat! While I had a great server and recieved great service, I've had better food at First Watch so it could've just been an off day. I'd still recommend this restaurant to anyone reading this, it just wasn't my best visit. read more

Walking in, the first thing I noticed was how bright and airy the restaurant was; very inviting. Our server was very friendly and promptly came back with our drink orders. I ordered The Traditional, which consisted of 2 eggs your way, potatoes, artisanal bread and choice of meat. In this case being smoked ham. The presentation was absolutely eye-pleasing. The eggs were cooked to perfection along with the potatoes. Both were delicious. I was, however, disappointed with the ham. The taste was delicious, but the texture was dry and tough. "If you can serve yourself you will" is the title of my visit. I came in 9 deep(3 children included) and it was busy. After 10 minutes I decided to ask for the server. I was informed she was on her way. She came up very "what do want" attitude seeing as she didn't say hello or her name. I say I want coffee and she hands me the pitcher she brought. She takes everyone's order for food cause we were waiting so long we all knew what we wanted. We wait another 15 minutes, (I even had time to read the Pineapple Express paragraph to the table for entertainment seeing as it had a very tired djner feel to it. ) and emerges with two plates of food. I think she made our drinks and forgot to bring them to us cause that was the second thing she brought. We asked for the manager and she asks "what going on?" My sister asked her if she say our table. "What do you mean?" "We have two plates of food and no drinks you don't see a problem?" "I'm here to get you what you want. If you want drinks I'll check on your drinks" She proceeded to hand us a stack of plastic cups and pitchers of water. Surprised we haven't tried this food chain before. It was actually the only food place in the area we visited. Why not try it out? Happy I did! The restaurant felt very "barnish" and rustic. Very clean, open, and decorated well. The service was nice, but we wished it was more attentive as this was our first time there and options were a bit overwhelming. Their wait times can bit a bit iffy especially on the weekend, but it's very worth it for me. They were out of any kind of creamer on this particular day. Just like the other location it's very busy with a constant flow of people. We waited like 20 minutes and waited awhile for someone to take our order. According to my visits the earlier you come the better. Service gets less reliable the later you go. This isn't a great place for you if you're in a rush or impatient. Everyone seemed to be working hard though. I got the carnitas cornbread summer special. I really enjoyed the cornbread it was a mix or cornbread with toast. It was a very dish. The First Watch on Hwy 6 North near Copperfield is very close to my home. I have eaten there several times before and always enjoyed it. My FIL flew in for a Christmas visit on Friday, 12/22, and we arrived at the restaurant for an early lunch. We ordered and then both went to the restrooms. I washed my hands and discovered there were no paper towels, and no hand dryer. My FIL had the same experience. I notified our server, who responded that they knew about it. I was very troubled by this sanitation issue, and wonder now why they didn't at least run to the grocery and buy some rolls of towels. Hands down, if you cannot find an organic juice bar with brunch and an innovative flair for food in the Northeast Houston/Humble area then First Watch is the next best solution in my opinion. You have multiple options for traditional meals or healthier options such as a savory açai bowl, but either choice...you must try the Million Dollar Bacon at least once(make sure you tell them you want the chives included). My goal is to try at least 10 different dishes. The first time I ate a First Watch Restaurant was in Fayetteville, NC so I thought maybe it was a military themed restaurant due to the name, but actual First Watch is between 2030 and 0000 so what gives?
