Live olive trees in a vast range of sizes; beautiful hutches/armoires; wooden decorative items
Albina M.

What an honor to be the first to review! Is this a new place? I'm not sure, but I only recently learned of it from a friend. She recommended it to me, an interior designer, as a place to check out while on a short trip down to SoCal. I'm so glad hubby and I made time for this little pit stop! What is Olive Ateliers? A beautifully curated store of imported decorative items and furniture. Many of the pieces are of reclaimed wood, marble, and the like. If you love the added warmth that clay pottery, rustic benches, and olive trees add to a space, this place is for you. Their current hours are limited (follow them on Instagram for details), but they happened to be open on the Saturday we were in town. How it works is you walk in, browse what's in stock, if you see something you like you can either pick it up (if it's small enough) or tag it with your name using a piece of tape. Once you're done shopping, you take a place in line and wait to be rung up for your purchases. Any tape-marked items will be collected for you. Although the line was long, it went pretty quickly. Since we arrived around 11am (a few hours past opening), we found that many items out on the floor had already been claimed. Moral of the story - come right at opening if you want first dibs. I was still able to snag a cute step stool I had been searching for for many months. It was $35 (a wonderful price compared to others I've come across before) and encompassed everything I had dreamed of aesthetically. I was really hoping to find 2 similar sized stools to bring home, but I grabbed the last unclaimed one. Nonetheless, I am really happy with my purchase and only wish we had a store like this closer to home!

I went shopping for accessories here today because I kept seeing them pop into my instagram feed and thought... "I have to go there!" So I did!! It was great!! The products were amazing... rustic bowls, vases, candle holders, large pots, beautiful cabinets, and some insane carved marble sinks!! The girl at the front, Hannah Jones, couldn't have been more helpful!! She was excited about the store/product and knowledgeable about the items in store! I have been to a lot of design stores and /or shows and feel like the pricing is pretty reasonable!

Turkish pots are mainly what you will find the most

Some cute stuff. Overpriced though, the large jars are so dirty and messed up, the ones from RH are better and priced better.

Place is filled with nice antique items but I feel these items are overpriced for what you're getting due to the "influencer" culture.

Not enough choices and over priced merchandise. Purely for aesthetic purposes. Great layout for a store. Other than that nothing special

They also had a lot of traditional items/supplies for tea ceremonies, calligraphy, and kimonos. I had fun looking through all the items as it brought me back to our summer in Japan. Apparently they have a long standing history in LA, having opened in 1946 after World War II. The shop occupies the site of the first Japanese-owned business in Los Angeles, circa 1890's. Pretty cool! I have a soft spot for everything animal shaped and soo.... I picked up a fun/odd felt tiger Christmas ornament, a cat pen, and a super cute bronze cat shaped spoon that hangs on the side of your cup. Did I need it? No.... but it's fun and makes me happy. The selection is fantastic- I went in looking specifically for aquarium friendly plants and left with such an awesome selection! And I feel like it was all reasonably priced too! Bianca and Matt were incredibly helpful, and Matt especially impressed me with his plant knowledge. He really knew his stuff and made the whole experience even better! I was impressed by the size of the store, with both an indoor and outdoor section filled plants, planting supplies, and other types of home decor. Staff members were friendly and patient whenever I had questions or needed assistance, and they were very attentive. Given the huge layout it could take some time to find a free employee, but their workers made sure I knew about the various options that could meet my search criteria. I was pleased with the pots that I found and thought the prices were comparative to what I saw at Sunset Nursery. I would definitely recommend checking out this shop!
