Lunch time at work and where to go? Started wandering around Commercial Street for something easy and handheld and Olive was perfect and the Gyro pulled me in. I'm a lover of an authentic Gyro and this place looked like the real deal. I was greeted immediately and offered a menu and a drink. I informed the gentleman I was here for to-go which he seemed happy about. The decor is middle eastern in feel with pretty decorations and a fair amount of seating. Did not have to wait long at all and boom it was done. I promptly took my tasty and found outside seating by the water. Oh so DELICIOUS! Everything was spot on! I had not a crumb left when it was all done. I have made a lunch date with a co-worker and we are headed here! If you love a great Guro, seek no more.

Delicious, refreshing, and simple. Really enjoyed the meal for nice authentic mediterranean flavours but not too strong for those with milder palate. The beef gyro was delicious with nicely browned beef, refreshing tzatziki, and a yummy pita. Also tried the Kibbeh platter with couscous. Very delicious and a perfect portion. Potentially lacked some acid in both dishes to amplify the flavors. Turkish coffee was a great experience that I highly recommend if you enjoy coffee. Prepared traditionally heating in metal small pot and very aromatic with strong notes of cardamom. Overall, had a pleasant meal.

What an incredible place. The owner, Ray, provided us with authentic Lebanese cuisine. The stuffed grape leaves were insanely delicious, as was the gyro wrap, pickled veggies, and Greek salad. My boyfriend said his margarita was great, too. Beautiful location by the waterfront, and just an amazing experience all around! Music, vibe...loved it!

Very good and very fresh. Lots of vegetarian options and some of the best baklava I've ever had and perfect falafel.

And it seems I wasn't the only one who discovered this hidden gem. When we got here, the spot was packed inside. Despite this we ordered three different items for a sit-down experience, and still received everything within 25 minutes. I ordered the lamb shawarma wrap on one occasion, and it was love at first bite. The wrap itself was toasted to a perfect brown crisp on the outside, yet retaining softness underneath, where it encapsulated the ranch-like sauce where it mixed with the sliced lettuce, carrots, onions and tomatoes to give it a well rounded, mixed, creamy flavor of the vegetables. The lamb meat itself was the primary vehicle of salt and spice (with emphasis on the garlic), yet never being dry. All this being considered, the wrap never fell apart, and held together the entire journey. I made the mistake of ordering the lamp wrap my first go here, because the next occasion I came here, I got the chicken shawarma bowl. Although the rice, sauce, chicken and vegetables all inherited the same flavor profile as the wrap, the bowl fell wildly below my expectations as it was impossible to get a truly full bite of every single thing utilizing a small fork. Nonetheless, this is truly the spot for a reliable bite that emulates a small taste of the Middle East.

The menu experience was smaller/limited options but offered "greatest hits" so that you didn't miss out on the overall experience. With seats right up at the counter and in perfect view of the kitchen, the team whipped out a coursed/well-timed menu. We enjoyed the chickpea fries, spread + breads, moroccan carrots, falafel, halloumi and to top it all off, the lamb ribs. It was so aggressive in the best way possible. The cocktail menu is fun, inventive and pairs well with most of the dishes. Their NA drinks were thankfully, not boring either. The only drawback for me here is the counter-top/high-top dining experience is the only available seating option unless you're participating in the upstairs private area. The restaurant is clearly very sleek and modern, but I felt like it took away from the experience of making this particularly special. Would recommend this restaurant for 2 people - hard to enjoy with a larger group!

We liked it more than Scales which I think might be a less popular opinion. The ambiance was very rustic and cozy. It did feel a little cramped and the first table they sat us at was in the middle of a bunch of other tables and I really don't think it would be a nice table for anyone. Thankfully they moved us to a corner/booth which was very nice of them. Even in the corner it was still a little cramped which is my reason for not giving it 5 stars. The pasta dish with lobster in a red sauce was divine. Full of other seafood in addition to the lobster like mussels and clams too. It was definitely messy but the flavor was fantastic. Tons of garlic which we love. The octopus appetizer was also delicious. Very charred which normally I wouldn't like but it worked very well with this dish. We also got hummus which was a special appetizer. It was ok- not very memorable. The desserts didn't appeal to us (maybe we were just too full). Would love to return if we find ourselves back in Portland!

You wouldn't think it by the name, but Martha's is a Lebanese restaurant with a great menu that won't overwhelm you. The owner and his staff are extremely friendly and overall just wonderful people. I went crazy and ordered the Steak Shawerma, 3 piece Falafel, baba ghanouj and hummus. The steak shawerma came with rice pilaf and a garden salad and was so good that I'll be going back to try their chicken one. The falafel was perfect. It wasn't oily and had just the right amount of flavoring and crunch. The baba ghanouj and hummus were to die for. I seriously had to keep myself from eating the entirety of the containers. They are currently remodeling the dining area so I can't comment on the ambience, but for what it's worth I like the quaint look of the place from the outside and the ease of ordering from the window. I'm a stickler when it comes to Lebanese food, but I'm so happy to finally find a Lebanese restaurant so close to me that it has officially become my go-to place for Lebanese food from here on out! I highly recommend Martha's as your next place to eat!
